She went up the ranks of Scarlet Guards as an assassin. When she faked her death, she ended up getting captured into the White Sparrow rank which are the courtesans who gather information. In Ep1, their mission was to get into the chambers of the royals (forgot who) to get information. White Sparrows won't kill unless they have to since it will affect them getting gigs at high ranking officials' homes to entertain and get info. If you remember, Ling Long only had sleeping stuff with her, nothing deadly. When NYZ first caught her, RRY said she didn't want to be a courtesan. I think that made an impression on NYZ since he felt the same. Has RRY tried to seduce men to kill them before? We really don't know. But based on her actions, she doesn't seem to be good at it (even on ep1). So imo RRY may have tried to get a man alone through some seduction, but as soon as she's able she'd have killed them. But it's more likely she just kills them without much fanfare.
She's very mission oriented. Her mission was to have a child. NYZ has good genes (tall, good at martial arts, smart) so she wants to accomplish her mission at all costs.

You got a delegation (some low rank traveling on foot) and wagon full of 100k taels of gold with the roads unpaved and not straight. If you think their journey will just straight up take them from the capital of one empire to the capital of the enemy empire, that's quite naive of you. These stories are about the journey and the encounters they get along the way that will build their characters as individuals and as a team. Then you have the FL story and agenda that's parallel to the ongoings of the delegation but has its own path that will most likely converge at the climax. I'm actually enjoying each part and character of this story. Nothing draggy to me because it all contributes to the whole complex story weaving and my attachment to the characters of this series.

Not 100% sure, but I've seen kdramas where adult children are expected to not even lock their bedroom doors for their parents to come and go as they please. So giving access to family members may not be as surprising as it would be for us non-koreans. Also, seems like he's only really close to his grandfather so maybe his hierarchy in the family tree isn't that high so he can't go against them.
