Oh yes, I also love discussing it with like minded people. But I find it very torturous to wait for new episodes hehe. Hence, I always make it a rule to wait for the drama to finish airing before watching it. I only broke that rule for 1 drama and oh, it was such a pain to wait for the new episodes. Never again lol.

I haven't seen that drama but yes, ZYC is another amazing actor who acts with very expressive eyes.

What sorcery is this? It fits so perfectly! Lot of people in China wanted this actor to be Kong Ming and have made cp edits of him and HYX.

Yup, no subs yet even for part 1. Have been waiting the longest to see HYX again in period costume. She is super adorable in this drama but unfortunately we'll have to wait for thr subs.

How does it start in the novel? How is it different in the drama and which do you prefer?

Better than others but not as good as Ancient Love Poetry, if you've seen that drama.

I'm a serial binge watcher myself. I much prefer that over chasing the drama as it airs, because I'm very impatient. I get notifications for this page so I only return here for those.

He was really good in emoting without dialogues! You could really understand his emotions and responses even without spoken dialogue. He's done a great job with that 👏🏽

BTS shows active participation of the director in the early scenes/episodes too. Actually TLB has been directed by the same director and I liked his direction in that drama better.

Also, I'm not completely happy with the way HYX has been filmed in many scenes. Her side profile shots have been used at pivotal points, missing out on her expressive acting and microexpressions completely. Even lower budget productions have filmed her better and thereby have made full use of her capabilities, showcased them favorably too.

Even I have reservations about the direction and editing. The wide shots are so wide that you can only see the dark set around the actors and can't even see the actors' face clearly thereby missing out on their microexpressions. Also, cuts between each character are quite abrupt, not letting the expression of the actors truly set in. This I've noticed in the first 6 episodes which have subbed by avv. Especially with actors like HYX, Reba and Ci Sha, who are very emotive and take their time to set in an expression, before the expression can truly make an impact in relation with their dialogue, the scene switches to another actor. Maybe this improves in the later episodes. Kind of understandable too since they had to cut down from the original length quite a bit. But it does affect the storytelling.

But he's also supposed to be very powerful and a demon whose taming is supposed to be difficult. That powerful aura does not always reach. However, I've seen that subs make all the difference. So maybe his power will be communicated once we understand what he's saying. Plus as someone said in another comment, he doesn't look particularly 'tortured' when he's being tortured in the earlier (fan subbed) episodes. But that can also be attributed to the direction.

Haha funny. I don't think Allen Ren is miscast and he does the cold face smoulder really well in latter parts, but he doesn't look dangerous per se. So I agree with the creator there.

You're right. And I'm very particular about spoilers. It's mu personal rule to bige watch directly after the drama has finished airing. I've been looking forward to this drama for months because we haven't seen HYX in period costume since 2020. But getting spoiled while waiting for subs, which might still be a month away, is not suitable for me. Hence, I'm cutting myself off from all drama news of TBW. Will surely visit this page once both parts have been subbed in their entirety.

I have decided to take a temporary break from this page and drama. Waiting for the subs is getting unbearable and I don't want to reduce my enjoyment of the drama by spoiling myself more. Will watch other dramas for a while and come back once both the parts have been released with subs (all episodes too, can't wait daily for new episodes after having waited so long.)

My favorite Korean miniseries ever, for everything including the plot, acting, chemistry between the leads and in fact all characters and production quality, is The Mermaid Prince : The Beginning, starring Astro Moonbin and SF9 Hwiyoung. Their acting is soooo good in this drama. Truly highly completely recommended! Must watch.
