Their entire world literally knows that her innocence was ruined in that one place she was in and she found out she was poisoned and the whole time it was his doctor/guard who did, who she had no idea about. She also didn't know it was him under the mask. On top of that, he let her believe that he had done something with his best friends sister due to jealousy, then tried to patch it up by giving her a title.
