Will I ever be over this show?

I’m not over this show. It’s 2023 and I still remember the plot and scenes like I watched it yesterday. It’s hard to find a show this well written and acted. The actors embodied the characters and the story was believable. The characters were far from perfect but in a way that I could see really playing out in reality. I could feel their feelings and worries right through the screen. There were rarely filler scenes and no unnecessary comedy. This show sold me on Lee Jun Ho for life especially. It’s a crazy ride but it’s a show for people who like stories. It’s a sad one this one so watch it when you have the heart for such. I remember it from time to time and wish I could watch it like it was the first time.

Fun, Funny, Simple and Cute

Firstly, It was so fun to watch this. It was acted in 2016 but I decided to have a 2009 mindset because their mannerisms were from that time. If you can go into it with that perspective then it can be fun. It’s very simple and lighthearted, which is what I wanted when I started watching it. A lot of it can be perceived as very sexist so if you hate that then you can stay clear. But like I said 2009 mentality lol. It was more fun than I thought it would be and has half the cheesy lines in this entire world loved that. It was funny too. I wasn’t planning on watching anything too serious and so many scenes were cute. I feel like this review is making very little sense now😂

The setup for this show in, I’ll say, the first ten episodes is pretty complex and I kept wondering how on earth the ML would get out of the fishnet of a problem he was in. In my opinion, the writers took the easy way out of the problem. At first this show is pretty dark and complex. It’s very interesting, it keeps you guessing (until the last 2 episodes really). The colours and directing are so lovely. I was hurt the most by the relationship between the ML and Mijoo. Such a huge missed opportunity there. But I digress. What I’m trying to say is that the show started off pretty heavy but started leaning into lighter scenes at the end. The conclusion and solution were almost unrealistic. Almost because I’m not sure it was unrealistic completely but it definitely felt like that. But I was too invested in the characters by then and already loved to story so those faults were easy to gloss over.
The cast was amazing and those twins! I’ll never forget them. Their community is actually fun to watch too.
I’m just really upset now that I didn’t get to see more. It feels like they’ve left me hanging😭 I just need to see more of the cute family I’ve come to love through this show.
It was pretty good. I recommend it for sure.

So Warm

I think slice of life shows like this are the best when you know the members of a group well but haven’t watched enough of their content enough to be curious to watch them just live.
The members did so many activities but I could really see them prioritize themselves and their individual rest. There are so many heartwarming scenes and because someone was always doing something questionable it made it even funnier. I love to watch people even do nothing, just talk, so it was really my style. It’s so nice to see how differently people spend their resting time and how silly they can get. It was really fun. My favorite parts were when they ate together. Only 5 or less people would cook but there would end up being enough food for everyone. It was amazing to me😂Anyway, give this a watch if you like this group, want to learn about them and like slice of life shows.

I am very pleased with this

I like shows that make me feel something. Some people feel that this show was repetitive and full of misunderstandings. It was but I think it was done rather well and realistically. I didn't notice it's repetitiveness until I thought about the train of events so I would say still that it's rather good.
I think the characters were were interesting. There were misunderstandings and I was upset but the misunderstandings were a direct result of personality traits of the characters that we were informed about early on. Even if it was annoying it was believable and I could totally see this playing out in real life. If you enjoy stories about relationships and deep friendships you well definitely enjoy this. Sometimes people don't communicate well and that is also reality. If you don't like love triangles you should stay away.
The characters are well done but Jung Kyung's character was a bit incomplete at the end.
When I decided to watch this I wanted something slow and thoughtful and I recommend that you be in a similar state of mind to enjoy this. The acting is pretty good and the fl carries the story and her emotions best. Still all of the others give a good performance. The music they play- because they are music students- is good and sometimes it's beautiful.
It is an interesting and thoughtful story.

I am pleasantly surprised

I’m really glad I got to finish this. When the drama starts it’s generally very light hearted and fun and I couldn’t help but wonder what some characters even existed for. I like more complex/ deeper story lines personally so by episode 7 I started to wonder if it was just going to be cute and fluffy. But no! The show was giving what it was supposed give if you know what I mean. We had a strong understanding of the characters before the more serious drama began and in hindsight I don’t mind that at all.
The character Nok Du is really a dream. What a well written character! And Dong Joo is really cool too.
The acting is great, their chemistry is great and they’re all so natural. The characters really come to life and are very consistent. I love that.
There were parts that were a bit overly dramatic but they’re dramatic without being annoying. The antagonist has the best expressions too😂. It’s actually worth the watch I would say if you like Saeguks.
I gave it an 8.5 because there were some parts that didn’t make absolute sense dragged but they were also negligible in my opinion. It’s a strong 8.5.
Some people were disappointed that it didn’t keep it’s humorous tone throughout the drama but I’m the type of viewer that doesn’t like humor when the situation just isn’t funny and should not be portrayed as such. It’s funny when it can be, cute when it’s appropriate and darker when things are tough for the characters. I like that a lot. I like to be shocked and entertained when I’m watching dramas and this delivered. The chemistry of the leads cannot be overemphasized. This review is for that Saeguk watcher that wants to give up on the show before episode 8. Don’t give up!

This review may contain spoilers

This pair works. Let's watch it again!

I don't know what makes this main couple work so well, because technically, as other reviewers have said, they're so incredibly different. It might be that when it comes to each other they're patient and willing to at least see from the other person's perspective. When I'm watching dramas these days it feels a bit shallow and up in the cloud but something about this was sweet and felt realistic.

I first tried to watch this show in 2021 and again in 2022 or so. I wanted to watch it so badly because I was so impressed by Kim Min Jae (the ML) after watching "Do You Like Brahms?", but I hated the first episode. I tried starting it multiple times because of the great reviews but I couldn't stand his character. He was loud, disrespectful and presumptuous and I think it was supposed to be funny. I don't find that sort of thing funny and I found the first episode unrealistic. He was supposed to be rich but was acting like a child and she was supposed to be smart but was somehow putting up with him. I couldn't understand how this attitude could ever be cute so I gave up on it. But I've been having a hard time lately and needed something funny and easy to watch. I remembered this show that had the slapstick funny first episode that I hated so I tried it again, but this time, I started at episode 2 and skipped 1 (I already finished most of 1 all those times ago anyway).

In episodes 2-5 he's still pretty annoying but to I tried to understand him and understand why the FL wasn't getting mad at him. tbh. I just accepted their dynamic as that really and I don't regret it at all. It only goes up from there- depending on if you will excuse some failings. The worst thing about the ML is the way he speaks to her. He has quite the temper and as I said earlier can be very disrespectful, especially in the beginning when she really didn't need anyone tearing her down unnecessarily like that. He really did berate her. I literally said "Ouch that hurts like a bitch" after something he said and I even thought I would not be able to ever in this world accept their match because he was so mean. Honestly, that scene alone was enough to give the show a 6. I shouldn't gloss over that so easily. So there's that. I guess the reason for my great rating is that I just loved it from the point that their relationship became more solid. I guess his character becomes such a huge support to hers that I just let all that go. After all that, I don't think he will speak to her like that again, for what it's worth.

The story is funny as I had expected and heavy in a way I hadn't expected too but my favourite thing about it is that it's written well. The characters are mostly well done and the story is complex enough that you always want to know what happens next.

The female lead is so beautiful. The number of times I said "God she's so beautiful" is ridiculous. I love shows that have a beating heart with rounded characters and a good and solid story. I usually can't stand obnoxious male leads but he tones it down a bit at some point. There's something about how serious he gets when they're discussing something serious and how relaxed he gets when he's just resting that makes him feel like a real person. This original attitude doesn't exactly change, but sort of fluctuates with the situation just like a real person would. He can also be smart, considerate and sweet and when he loves someone he goes all in 1000%.

When it comes to kdramas I'm a simple person: just give me a good story and characters I can at least understand to some extent. That's why my average rating is so high. It gives me the vibes of older kdramas that I loved in the sense that it managed to balance lightness, deep feelings and a good story without irritating me to death. The ML's secretary also has to be the coolest and most competent secretary I have come across in Dramaland. It also makes him a bit realistic that he isn't 100% perfect.
The female lead is an angel through and through and she's pretty strong. I liked her acting too and all the other actors did a great job. I only spoke about his character the most because I think his character gave the show balance.

I just wish there were a few more minutes in the last episode so I could see more of them. If you're in the mood for a bit of slapstick and can stand an annoying ml for a few episodes I seriously recommend it. I started to wonder again if love like this really exists. Ah, the beauty of a good kdrama and a good story. I want to rewatch it all over again.

All Hail Wattpad Come to Life

You will cringe the entire time, but if you’re okay with that then go for it. I’m telling you, if you love wattpad stories you’ll love this because the first thing I thought was “what in the wattpad is this?”. It’s the typical smart, rich, handsome student turned CEO and the holier than thou girlfriend but I liked that. I was looking for a drama that wouldn’t have me tooooo invested and for Yang Yang too. I don’t know if this fits perfectly but it does to a great extent. Overall, I had fun with this.
It’s almost like watching a really badly produced Disney movie. It has all the cute perks that come with Disney movies but without the good production. I saw that another reviewer said that this is sweet like candy. It’s exactly sweet as candy and doesn’t last too long and that was fine by me.
If you’re looking for a mature show run and never look back. The amount of filler scenes in this show is INSANE even for 2016 but it is a Chinese drama so I was expecting that. The real age for this show should be 2009😂. For the first 17-20 episodes I watched literally only half of the show because I could fast forward and really not miss anything. I suspected it would be like that and I was okay with that because I really wasn’t in the mood to be serious. I wanted to be distracted and this does the job. The last ten episodes though, I barely fast forwarded at all. It was like that was when the show really started.
It’s super swoony in my opinion. Some people will absolutely hate the amount of cringe lines and situations. I really want to know why he doesn’t pay her during summer internships and why all she’s helping majorly with is admin work when she’s a comp sci major. But it didn’t bother me too much because the ONLY way to watch this and enjoy it is to ignore technicalities.
Er Xi is a friend I would’ve broken up with because what was that and the other antagonist guy is absolutely horrendous. Just No. I loved the MLs friends a lot and how accepting they were of her. The banter they had with her too was great. I didn’t mind the MLs attitude. I think he can be reasoned with but she never tried. She accepted his every word so how can I fault him lol. It’s worth watching if you think curling your toes lines are cute.
There was so much footage of the game world that was just pointless. So many pointless scenes. But if you’re looking to swoon and not have a serious drama then this will be fine. My emotions gave this a 7 for the last 10 episodes but the first 20 are just so filler like that it’s not fair. This should be a 6.5 overall but for some reason I feel bad rating it that .

Whoa Whoa

I binged this in one and a half days. It was a lot of fun. I couldn't think of one thing that was wrong with it. I picked it up because I wanted something to watch something funny and it delivered. The writing of each episode's case is fantastic. The show does not directly teach you a lesson but shows many angles of one incident and makes you really think about what you're watching.
I initially didn't want to watch this because I though the main character would be annoying and that the whole story would be whacky but it's really well packaged and done like a pricey bag without a single thread out of place. I don't find the ending "ordinary" for goodness sake. It's like if bad things don't happen then a story is not realistic. I'm over depressive endings just for the sake of them, no thanks. I can look at real life if I wanted to see reality but this is not unrealistic either. The ending wraps up a lot of things in a satisfactory manner and the acting is VERY good. Park Eun Bin really did well. I could feel the character and not the actress. The entire cast was really good. Anyway, this is good. You should watch it!

Out of Style?

I think if I watched this in 2016 I would have been pleased but the actions of the characters are so out of date that they’re now lame to me instead. I only watched 6 episodes and I did laugh a bit so it’s funny but I started getting uncomfortable at the non consensual kiss in episode 4 and the creepy guy who gave the kiss. I kept the fact that it was 2016 in mind but the way it was glossed over and how she acted around him after that was bizarre to me. It felt like I would wish I could get my time back if I finished it so I stopped. It feels like I’ve seen the show before in other old shows I’ve watched if you know what I mean. There isn’t much to miss. Also her mom? Ew? The good bad mother is a better mom.
