You know at the very last part, when Ruyi told the emperor before he left for the hunting trip, she said in Mandarin…
Yeah, you're right. It was really sad and touching at the end. That was the type of life womens back then. Especially those consorts of emperor's. It was really shit life inside the palace's harem.

More than 5/8 people, it's 8/10 people all died ... Only left Mu Qing Mo and Sheng Lun at the end. But I do agreed…
Well, don't take it too seriously, it's just drama, just a story. This is not so badly hurt yet, recently just a few days back, I'd just completed Ruyi's Royal Love In The Palace, you can check out my profile for this 87 episodes historical drama, this is even more sorrowful. But the drama was based on real historical records, it's a true story

P/S: Just to share some actual historical recordings. RuYi ( in real historical name was Lady Hoifa Nara) was born on 11 March 1718 and passed away on 19 August 1766 at the age of 48 years old. Her titles were : 1) Lady Hoifa Nara from 11 March 1718, 2) Secondary Consort from 2 December 1734, 3) Consort Xian from 23 January 1738, 4) Noble Consort Xian from 9 December 1745, 5) Imperial Noble Consort from 20 May 1749, 6) Empress from 2 September 1750. Her downfall from Empress on 28 February 1765. It was revealed later on that day ( after they argued ) the emperor had her send back to Beijing Forbidden City (palace) and ended his tour to southern China. After returning to the palace, he ordered the four monuments he grated to Lady Hoifa Nara during her promotions to be recalled. The emperor also reduced the number of servants that Lady Hoifa had until only left with 2 maids. This was the number of servants that a low ranking consort had. A year later, she passed away. The emperor was on a hunting excursion when he received the news of her death. He did not end his excursion trip immediately or head back to the palace, instead, he ordered his 12th son YongJi to return to the palace to take charge. Lady Hoifa's funeral was ostensibly scaled down to the rank of a consort's funeral arrangements. The funeral ceremony was much worse than it seemed. At an Noble Consort's funeral, princesses, nobles and high ranking court officials were required to attend the mourning procession, but this aspect was absent for her funeral.
For consorts of her class, Lady Hoifa was expected to have her own mausoleum or a gravestone at the very least, however instead, she was laid to rest in the Yuling Mausoleum next to Imperial Noble Consort Chun in a way similar to how a servant were buried besides their masters. Her death was not even recorded in official histories. The emperor also ordered to erased Lady Hoifa Nara's personal details away from official histories. Once, a historian begged the emperor to organize a funeral befitting that an empress for Lady Hoifa, but the emperor exiled him. Also years later, a scholar pleaded with the emperor to reconsider the entire affairs, but the emperor responded with anger and had the scholar executed.

Just completed the drama... And I'm an emotional wreck. Never had I cried so much while watching a drama.
You know at the very last part, when Ruyi told the emperor before he left for the hunting trip, she said in Mandarin "Hua Kai Hua Luo Zi Yo Shi" she actually means "Womens are like flowers, and flowers bloom till flowers fade it all has it's time" ... That part OMG, it hurts so bad, I too can't even control my emotions. Check out the ending theme song OST "Shuang Ying"( means double shadows), perfectly fit for this whole story. At YouTube : Mix - aMEI x Sandy (双影) Official Music Video

Hated the emperor until the end. I Wished they writers didn’t follow history and would make Ruyi aggressive.…
Yeah ... Me too. But too bad, these was based on real historical records. You know, back then those era, mans mostly were assholes, especially emperors.

Very sad, honestly. This were the lifes of the emperor's consorts in those days. It portrait womens were so "valueless". I can't help but honestly in a few incidents it really made me shading tears. Can't imagine how shit was life as a women back then. But if the character of the emperor were to "put" onto this era's man, I'll tell him to screw himself off. Especially I can't tolerate those abusive act eg: slapping, kicking ...etc. But the end theme song OST - “Shuang Ying” (means double shadows), I like the wordings and meanings of the song, sad but it perfectly fit for this story.

A little tip to share with all, a good skin complexion and texture not only depending on cosmetics, certainty cosmetics are important, but a good diet is the key. Example, consuming more vegetables and fruits or semi vegetarian does help alot to achieve a great skin, secondly, drink lots of water is also another factor, rather than intake tea or coffee with sugar. Less consuming red meat plays a big help, especially in the evening for dinner time, less taking red meat. Coz when consumed alot of red meat at dinner time, our body's internal digestion system is slowing down by the end of the day. That's why intaking too much of red meat late of the day it may not be fully digested and it stayed inside our intestines. This will coz eg: bad breath, bad digestion and what is bad will find a way to dispose out from internal, not just by constipation, it also dispose out from our skin. I'm not saying can't eat red meat at all, yes, you can, but best is during the day time like lunch, coz during the day our internal digestive system is still active. This will digest more on what you eat. Instead of consuming red meat during dinner time which is late of the day, yu can choose to take fish. Fish's meat are very good for both internal intestines and external our skin. If you don't believe, you try for 14 days to stay away from red meat and consume vegetables more and also eat more fruits, you'll see improvements, coz I personally been thru this methods myself to believe it. Occasionally I still do consume red meats, but rarely. Last is drinking lots of water, our body is made up on 80% hydration. Personally, I intake about 5 litters of water per day instead of drinking tea or worst, coffee. I also stay away with carbonated soft drinks like coca cola, coz they're full of caffeine and super high of sugars, which is damp bad for our body, example getting diabetic, high sugar level, high cholesterol and other liver and heart problems. These methods are just the basic start of achieving great skin.

Good storyline, since 1st episode till last, not a part boring. Anytime better than “Indiana Jones”. Acting techs are good, there's lot of mixture of emotions, the most is exciting , curiosity, thrilling, hilarious, sadness and some lovey duvey romance. I think William Chan looks real “ hot” in those day's military's outfits. Personally, I admired that era of time the 1920's “Old Shanghai” styles. It's really classic and enchanting. Anyways, it's a good story and worth watching. But the end part it was not clearly indicate what happened to “Fo Yeh”’s wife ( Yin Xing Yue ) and the “Lords” ( The Yeh ) number 2, number 5, number 7, number 8 & 9. I think Lord number 9 looks “hot” too especially on the last part they all united up to defeat the Japanese troops and he with the long riffle shooting, real Chinese's God Father ???? !! Others in my opinion : I believe in real life those days, these Chinese Lords if they're rich, they're filthy rich. And if really to scrutinise how they became rich, they'll be a lot of “dark stories” such like this - Grave Robbings, Black Opium related business and Gangsterism ( like that show Shanghai Bund / 上海滩). My great grand parents was from that era and eventually they migrated to here now Britain. When I was much younger, there's a lot of these stories was told to me. But I was too young to understand and believe it. Since my both grand parents were educated here in Britain, that's why they decided to migrated here a little earlier before the Japanese Occupation time. Certainly, they're also some distance relatives wasn't so fortunate and was executed by the Japanese.

There's a mistake of the cast's identity, the Empress Dowager - Wang Tai Hou is not acted by Jiang Hong. It's another person but similar name - Jiang Hong Bo or also known as Hongbo Jiang. These 2 actress are 2 different person. Jiang Hong is only 33 years old and Jiang Hong Bo is 45 years old ... you can search in Google for all the information(s) and photos ...

No doubt it's a good romance drama. But it disappoint me. Before I started this story, I was hoping the storyline is somewhat related to the history of the first emperor of Qing Dynasty ( the last Dynasty in China's history ), but turns out it's more to just a fiction story.

The storyline of this drama is just average. In the beginning, I felt a little confused with the 3 tripes and each cast's name ... It took me awhile to get used or understood who's who and from which tripe. From episode 1 - 10, it felt a little struggling coz it's quite boring and perhaps a little childish. But after episode 10 onwards, it gets better until somewhere around episode 38, then the story got boring again as too much of wars and unnecessary vengeance. It's been awhile since I've seen Roland Zhai appears in any dramas. And in this whole drama, the only cast I find the cutest is that (red & white with big eyes) fox - Ah Bik. But somewhere around middle of the story, when Mu Qing Mo jumped off from the cliff, Ah Bik and Luo Yang ( that firebird ) also followed her jumped off the cliff, after that only shows that Luo Yang ( that firebird ) was found and rescued by Mu Qing Mo, but what happened to Ah Bik ? Lost ? Died ? Or just forgotten ? What a waste ...

I tried to like this drama for the last 15 hours but I just simply could not. HXM is one of my favorite Chinese…
I agreed and feel the same like you just described. But Victoria actually not too bad with her role as Mu Qing Mo or better know as Ah Mo. I think she played her role better in this drama compared to Ice Fantasy, do you think so ? Or maybe not ? In Ice Fantasy I think she doesn't look nice after transformed into immortal with white hairs, looks like an old women ... And this drama somewhere middle to the end, I felt it has too much of wars and unnecessary vengeance that brought audience felt bored of it ... Do you feel it ?
