Agreed, Complex, flawed characters and character development are way more interesting! Also I have to say that in all C dramas I have watched with a supposedly red flag ML the ML is no red flag. Flawed yes, issues yes, etc but no real red flag. Maybe because at the end of the day none of us would want to watch a real red flag.

If I remember correctly you complained a lot about Lighter and Princess, so I think you won’t like this here at all because it has lots of „forced“ kisses and ML hides from FL the fact that he wants to take revenge on her brother… and some more things you might not like.

I just can‘t picture Sun Qian in a kissing scene. But we‘ll see.

Even after rewatching I cannot see that homoerotic tension some people mentioned here. Wu Siyuan trained him, tried to break him and create a creature that he could control 100%. He clearly said what his opinion of ren was. There was anger and immense hatred and to some extent frustration/helplessness on Xie Xinxu‘s part. Don’t know why these days it always has to have a different meaning.

I‘m a bit unhappy with the turn of events. It seems nowadays every FL must be tough just for the sake of it and ML must lose every purpose in life except serving and supporting FL despite being trampled all over by FL. They should have at least included him in the scenes in Ding‘s house when they were working on the fragments because that was his purpose and goal too.
