Huang Yi was great! I‘ve never seen her in anything before but I will definitely watch out for her future roles. Also I think she had great chemistry with Allen.

He‘s rumoured to play the emperor in a serious historical drama. We‘ll see! A serious historical is a good choice and definitely good for his career but I guess it won’t have romance and I love him in romance 🥰

Agreed, FL was not written well. I feel everything is written very well about this drama except for her character.

I also would recommend Love Beyond the Grave because it’s very different and doesn’t have the cultivation aspect and immortal sects etc.
Also I would recommend Lost You Forever but beware 🥺

Who needs a kiss when they can have Allen‘s eyes? He says it all with his eyes. I personally love the way he portrays romance and I hope he won’t stop doing historical dramas with some romance.
That said this drama here focuses on adventure, personal journey and many deep themes and has only light romance.

I „get“ it, that’s why I wrote the only gripe I have. It’s a very well written drama with beautiful cinematography and very deep themes, and I‘ve been enjoying watching from the first episode. I would be fine with no romance at all, but when there is romance then of course one would also want chemistry. RJL always delivers, so it’s more the FL that I‘m not so happy with in terms of chemistry.

I just watched it too and I don’t know what to think. Guess I have to watch the remaining episodes first to judge.
But it’s definitely not a HE for me. Apart from the romance I don’t want him to forget everything that happened.

I disagree. RJL doesn’t have as much screen time as her. That’s actually the only gripe I have with this drama, and that they don’t have the greatest chemistry.

It‘s extremely well written, very good fight scenes that are a joy to watch, very deep themes are addressed in this drama, for me it’s a 9 so far.
It’s more adventure and characters‘ stories than romance.
