I really don’t want to sit through the final episodes if Luo Wensong does not reappear. Can someone answer if he does? And what about the Luo aunt? She’s clearly taking care of the Li family’s grandmother when she’s ill, so what happens to her?

Definitely not suitable for a 9 year old! Way too much grief and sorrow and blood. If you must you could only let him/her watch certain parts, but there are way better videos on YouTube about ancient ink making.

Yes I‘m looking forward to Mo Li too! I think I‘ll drop The Heir or maybe fast forward the final episodes, it doesn’t seem worth my time anymore.

What are you watching next? I‘m looking forward to Love has Fireworks with Tan Jian Ci which will finally air in mid June. It’s a modern drama but there’s nothing else with him for a long time.

I‘m also disappointed. The drama has various interesting things to offer, like everything about ink making, the cultural aspect, the family aspect mother and daughter relationship etc, the cinematography and the colour palette that matches the ink theme.. Also I quite enjoyed FL and ML interactions, but BUT BUT … most characters feel like one dimensional cardboard figures, the villains especially, but also FL as superwoman and ML character unfortunately was completely clipped - like a different version of PoJ. The only interesting character imo was Luo Wensong and if he reappears we don’t know how that will be. Also most of the story is not well written. Talk about plot armour. I think it’s doing well in China for the cultural aspects.

There is no correct or incorrect when it comes to personal impressions or feelings. Mine differ from yours and that’s of course ok. I just wanted to point out that not all people who feel that certain aspects about this drama feel repetitive are superficial short drama watchers.

I way prefer Li Xin Ze so I think it’s actually a good thing that they are face swapping. If I remember correctly it was done in the Legend of the Female General and it was not weird there. So let’s hope!

That’s not a very mature or constructive statement. Then don’t start a discussion if you don’t want to hear others‘ opinions.

I watch many different kinds of dramas and I certainly don’t just watch idol dramas with pretty faces, but I still feel the family issues feel too repetitive. I could watch everything about the ink making or anything related to it forever, also business aspects, culture aspects… anything. And I very much enjoy FL and ML’s interactions, how they talk to each other and support each other. It doesn’t need speeding up. Also LZ‘s grandfather‘s dialogues are very interesting and enjoyable to watch. This drama has many beautiful and interesting things to offer. But the Li family’s issues especially with the aunt feel repetitive and tedious to watch.
