I didn't look until I saw it being over so fast. Then I looked at the running time.

It was shorter than the other episodes 48 minutes. And some of that was taken up by the very long intro and previous episode highlights. So probably only 42 minutes of new material.

I think Chakri is the best character in the whole series. If I had a choice he would never leave the scene. In real life a butler doesn't do most of the things that Chakri does.

In a normal world he would have a right to study. In Emmaly he only has the rights that Ramil says he has. He is basically a slave.

Seems like in the next episode Thatdanai is going to show up in Emmaly. We saw pictures of him going through the airport in London at the end of the last episode.

Charan is carrying Khanin off to his bedroom after getting injured fencing, so another opportunity for the two of them to get closer, but not quite yet.

Zee has already said that episode 7 is going to be a pivotal episode and I'm assuming that means it's when they're finally going to consummate their relationship. So the next episode should be a cliffhanger.

I do believe that Ramil has real feelings for Paytai in the really messed up way that he's capable of. On the other hand I think Paytai is just trying to survive. He has no control and therefore no ability to make a decision. And he knows his mere status there depends on Ramil's father. I don't think Paytai actually sees a future in this mess.

Agreed. When straight people say heteronormative it is the way that they comprehend the roles of gay couples. And the producers of BLs cater to that assumption.

I don't agree but they are doing another BL within a year or so. I guess we'll see then. 😉

Not really. At this point Khanin and Charan are still in the initial attraction stage. There is a slight bit of insight into the sexual relationship between Ramil and Paytai. Calvin and Jay have just met each other.

That's probably an issue with having fixed pairs in BLs.

Once you have a fixed pair you're going to get the same dynamic no matter what series or movie they are in.

And in the case of Zee and NuNew They have enormous power in what roles they pick. They even had an entire novel written for the sole reason of it being made into a screenplay starring them.

You're getting angry at the wrong thing. I agree with you that we need more diversity in the types of couples we see in BLs and it's very unlikely you're going to see that in long-term BL pairings.

Well I'm not sure of that the issue of consent is even relevant here. Paytai is a whipping boy. He has no control in the relationship. But the violence you saw in the last episode did not occur in this one.

You seem to be getting really upset here and I think what both Sara and I are trying to tell you is that you're never going to see a different dynamic between Zee and NuNew no matter what couple they are playing. This is what they want to do.

If you want to you can be upset about it but it isn't going to change things. In the end I think you will be lucky to see even another couple of BLs with these two.

That being said I would like to see the genre spread out into some more varied same-sex couples because top bottom is not the universe of queer coupling in the world.

Sort of. There really wasn't an opportunity for Khanin to wear feminine clothes in London. He was an average upper middle class student. College kids tend to wear t-shirts and jeans and carry backpacks. So Khanin was doing just that.

Part of NuNew being NuNew is that he loves feminine clothes. In the beginning when he just started out in Cutie Pie he said himself that Domundi never tried to force him into a clothing style, that this was his preference.

I do agree that there should be BLs that work outside of heteronormative type top and bottom roles and maybe we'll see that in the future.

But I don't think we're going to see that from NuNew and Zee. I don't know how many BLs we will see out of those two at all since they each have a lot of other interests.

And PS I absolutely love Charlie in Pit Babe. It's a very mediocre BL and I probably wouldn't watch it if it wasn't for him and the theme song which is really cool.

What you see in BLs has very little to do with gay and lesbian relationships IRL.

BLs sell a fantasy relationship. It's the equivalent of Donna Reed in the 1950s. They aren't really fleshed out characters.

IRL You can see a gay couple where they're both muscle gays, both of feminine, lesbian couples were both are lipstick lesbians or both butch. At least that's how it works with a lot of my friends and I have a lot of same-sex couple friends. No idea what they do in the bedroom I would never ask, but that is the presentation to the public.

I just don't know how well it would sell in BL dramas and that's probably why we don't see more of it.

I should add that Zee and NuNew have a lot of power in Domundi. They are the company's top grossers, and The Next Prince novel was written at Zee's direction.

Even if that wasn't their preference I don't think most of their fans would accept NuNew in a masculine role. He's not a physically commanding figure and a lot of their charm is in the roles that they already play.

Even in Pit Babe where Charlie is the top in the bedroom and Babe is the bottom, their roles the rest of the time are that Charlie is the more subservient and Babe is the more dominant. But I like it because at least it breaks some of the preconceived roles in BLs.

There is only so far you can go when one of the people in the pair is tiny and the other one is much larger.

Actually you're missing my point. I don't think you're going to get a dynamic that is outside of the one Zee and NuNew prefer in their real lives in any of the dramas they perform in. You can either accept that or not.

There is a tiny bit of BDSM but no whipping like last episode.
