The female lead in the comic is half Uyghurs even though she looks more Han Chinese compared to Uyghurs Chinese.…
100% spot on. Also, 100% agree.

I starting to believe the racist comments towards Reba stem from jealousy because she’s so gorgeous, and come off as a sweetheart, then co-stars with some of the hottest actors, and they all really like her and maintain a friendship after working with her.

She almost didn't want to act in costume dramas anymore after those comments.... until someone encouraged her.…
Feel so sad for her tbh. She seriously doesn't deserve the negative comments, and appearance shaming she gets because she doesn't fit the "traditional" Chinese look. Frankly, I pawn it off as Chinese citizens have no problems with being open and downright abusive towards their racist hatred of Uyghurs, and it's sad how little attention this fact gets in worldwide public media. =/

Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
She has already done many historical costume dramas, though. Any idea why some people are suddenly complaining?…
It's because of the cult following of this manhua is pretty vocal. You can read below some of the more realistic complaints, such as age gap between leads and Reba looking stronger than Leo which doesn't fit the plot, etc. This complaining on Chinese forums/websites regarding the cast is much nastier than what you'll read her. The outright say she looks like an ugly foreigner and needs to be pulled from casting or they're planning on downvoting the drama rating on various sites to make the drama look like trash. It's the saddest BS you'll ever read.

Why people speak about this drama so freely in the comments without a spoiler tag? Omg it's so frustrating! Can…
I think I don't quite understand why you're upset about this. The title and synopsis literally talk about this and the tags are:

"Successful Male Lead, Eccentric Female Lead, Infidelity, Cheating, Marriage, Divorce Lawyer, Best-selling Author, Successful Female Lead, Married Couple"

It is not a spoiler if it's already known, including in the tags.

I cannot believe how much hate this is already getting by Chinese netizens. They legit are saying, without shame, that they're planning on reviewing it badly, BEFORE EVEN WATCHING IT, because they either don't care for Reba's acting style; think she looks too European; think she looks too American; looks not suitable to a Chinese TV series; just don't want her to star in this because she's not worth of the role; among some of the other comments that have been listed.

I feel so bad for her. I can't understand the shittalk and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth for how it comes across as totally racist against her as well.

Title Love Scenery
So, WeTV English posted on IG a birthday wish to Lulu Xu on 12/28/20 stating to look forward to this drama to air soon. WeTV already has the channel link up for it but only has trailer uploaded so far.

Yingpingshuo states that the starting broadcast date is 1/29/21. Based on the teasers from WeTV, I'm going to assume this is a fairly accurate date:
https://www.yingpingshuo.com/bfsj/2424.html

Also, based on the trailer, I hope this drama is as romantic as it's showing us and we just didn't see the entire shots of all their romantic interactions upfront, making it anticlimatic. =/
That's a lot of romance scenes in just a 1min trailer so it has me a bit worried. lol.

When this airs it's going to be huge, I think. Filming was completed in July, 2020 and it already is planned for a 2021 broadcast time on multiple Chinese channels and Tencent Video in Taiwan.

Yue365 states it is updated to tentatively air in 2021.

I believe the issue with this drama has to do with much of the protesting in HK etc. This was referenced in a state admin press release to be part of the list of entertainment/propaganda to celebrate the 20th anniversary of HK's return to China. It wasn't released then in Nov, 2020 the title was changed to 阳光正好依然是你 ~'The Sunshine is Still You'.

Being the era is 1930, and all the political tension surrounding it even to this day, these types of stories and plots are highly controlled by the CCP and much editing and consideration has to be done just to get it released, if it will ever be released at all.
