I personally think that this season was more interesting and humorous. Hoping for season 3 as Ji Gu still haven't…
I love Ji Yeon as well, and was really upset with her fighting with Ji Gu. But nobody is perfect, and deep down she cares so much for her friends. She explained to the director that the reason she interfered with Ji Gu's friends/potential boyfriends in the past, was that she wanted to test if they really liked Ji Gu or would be swayed by her subtle advances, because that would basically mean they'd end up hurting Ji Gu along the way. Yes, it's being super meddling, and I think she should have let Ji Gu decide on her own, and experience it by herself. And it led to a misunderstanding on JiGu's part, that she just did it out of spite because she didn't want (romantic) happiness for her. When in fact, Ji Yeon was always supportive of So Hee's relationships, so that shows that it wasn't that she didn't want her friends to date in general. She even says to the doctor 'why would I not want So Hee to marry? It doesn't mean we'll be only two left, we'll gain one and be four [in our little family]". She knew that even if So Hee winds up in a relationship or married, she would still stick with her friends, but she was afraid of Ji Gu leaving them entirely, if she fell in love. So yes, her meddling with Paper Guy was not fair and selfish, but because she was really scared of losing her best friend. I just think it makes her human.
This was once again quite a ride, but I am really happy it didn't disappoint. Yes, it feels somewhat different from S1, but after all, it's also about growth. Like in the 1st season, the first two episodes are meant to be an introduction of sorts, tying together lose ends of the past. This season focused more on the future than the past, and tackled some demons each of the girls has been dragging around with them for a while. I didn't cry as much as during the first season, but there were moments that touched deeply. The only episode that felt a bit odd, and I didn't like the conclusion of, was the one with the baby. I wished the final episode had been longer, it felt a little rushed. I am also upset we didn't get more Kim Sun Gook, his interactions with Ji Yeon were so funny. They had a lot of chemistry that I wished had been better explored. If there's a season 3, he better be in the cast! All in all, the 'Let's drink' gang will be missed, and it will always be a comfort show for me. Sometimes you feel so lost, you don't know where to go from here, how you even got there in the first place... None of the girls really has their shit together, but that's okay, baby steps. I truly love this drama and fervently hope for a S3. 9/10
Why do u have to compare ? Both r good shows we can enjoy.double the happiness 😊
Because I recently rewatched Lovely Runner, and my mind would compare the two subconsciously. Comparison often happens automatically. And as I said, Twinkling Watermelon is a beautiful drama, just lacking in the music department for me. But yep, we've been blessed with two joyful dramas :)
I watched this three years ago, when I was heavily struggling emotionally and just needed a fun pick-me-up. Little did I know I was gonna end up crying nearly every episode. Don't be fooled by the first three episodes. They're crazy silly and just make you think 'wtf am I even watching??' But trust me keep watching and you'll be rewarded with a deeply emotional drama, that touches upon so many important lessons in life. Tthrough all the hardships and all the pain, their friendship and spirit really shines. It's not easy to find a drama that's so realistic and so out-of-this-world at the same time. I think the shorter episode format really helped to keep things interesting all the way through, but it's not the only reason why this is the only new drama I've enjoyed in a while. The writing and the stories and the editing and directing are all very interesting, the acting is fantastic of course, and the comedy balances out the heartbreaking twists and turns of this drama. Also, for everyone wondering, there is definitely romance in this, but it's not a typical romantic comedy, and it's not what this show revolves around. 9.5/10 from me for this gem, even after rewatching twice.
I watched a few eps, but since the first ep, I found some of the characters’ personality/behavior obnoxious…
I don't know when you dropped it, but it's only the first three or four episodes that are over the top (and all of them are only like 20-30 mins). After that it touches VERY deeply upon friendship, family, tragic moments in life, the choices we make when we see no way out. I wasn't expecting it at all, thinking it was just a silly little comedy, but now it's one of my favorite dramas. It actually made me cry a couple of times. I hope you give it a second chance, but of course everyone has their own taste, I respect that!
I love Song Jae Rim but he is TERRIBLE at choosing scripts, seriously...
I loved him in 'Work Later, Drink Now', and checked out some dramas, but I agree. How's he in this drama? Is it worth watching for him? Love triangle or does he have a separate love story/no love line at all?
If there was a drama that really deserved the underrated tag, this is it. Intriguing and mysterious story, fresh…
I liked actor Song Jae Rim in 'Work later, drink now', although it was only a guest role. He's the second lead here. Is it a love triangle, or does he have a separate love line/no romantic interest at all? Thanks!
If this is the worst you have to say about it we're good. I'm not letting my kids watch K-dramas. Are you?
There wasn't much more to add to the first episode, this scene just stood out to me and left a sour taste. I think wastefulness (especially concerning food) is not something that should be promoted on television or any kind of platform, and I just made a general remark to Korean culture. I lived for 6 months in South Korea and unfortunately, that kind of mindlessness is everywhere. On the one hand, you're supposed to finish even the last grain of rice in your bowl, as a courtesy to the hard labor that went into farming, but on the other hand, there is soooooo much food waste. It would also never occur to people to bring leftovers from restaurants home, and even at home what they don't finish on their plates, they usually just throw in the trash. So, yes, I do think it's a problem they promote playing with your food in this show as a 'kids content creator'. There are other ways to make cooking fun, you don't have to throw around the ingredients, wasting perfectly fine food. I don't have kids, so no, my kids don't watch K-drama, but a lot of Korean kids do, even if the TV is just on in the background. I just know that if I ever have kids, I'll teach them differently. You may teach yours whatever you want, too.
I didn't get hooked right from the start, but I do have to say it is a very funny drama. It's been losing momentum, though, and the 'misunderstanding'/not telling your true feelings/ not listening to someone's explanation was getting a bit tiresome. I am glad episode 10 made a jump at least for the main couple, but the side couple is really frustrating, too, although I love their interactions. Il Jeong's 'it was a mistake' was never explained on his part, he was clearly attracted to Mi Ho from the start. I am also peeved they never got us a full flashback of what went down that night, we only got some snippets. Generally I have to say it's a bit too shallow for me, I wish we got more bone to the story, and especially more character depth, for literally everyone. We barely know anything, they never show something new but just keep repeating the same flashbacks. If we don't get more backstory for the gangster gang, I'll be very disappointed, although I feel it's already very late in the game, too. In good movies/shows, even if we don't get direct flashbacks, they should at least reveal more in dialogue. All in all good acting and fun comedy, but somewhat weak writing (or the source material is lacking, idk). 7.5 from me at this point.
First episode was really funny, but I hate how in K-dramas they always waste food and throw away barely touched meals, and now, even worse, they're promoting playing with your food to children (at the fair) lol I mean, seriously? That's such a bad example to kids...
The best friend did that to make both of them talk to each other as none of them were getting out of their awkwardness…
Then she could have just told him honestly that FL was waiting for him to come around , but she's creating more misunderstandings by claiming FL goes into a drunk frenzy. Personally, I'd be hurt if someone tries to kiss me, and I think it's because they like me, but then I find out it's just their habit. And look how it turned out, he tells FL 'no worries I won't misunderstand (that you have feelings for me), [so let's just forget about it'] (that's what FL took it as, anyway). It made the whole situation much worse.
I do not understand why the male lead likes her to be honest, everytime they are together she is being immature,…
I agree with you mostly, but I didn't care for best friend meddling with FL and Ml. Why would she tell him that FL goes around kissing people when she's drunk?! If I heard this, I'd rightfully assume that said person didn't attempt to kiss ME because they liked me. So when he goes to talk to FL what he says is basically "your friend explained it to me so there won't be a misunderstanding (about you liking me), so don't worry, I didn't think so anyway". If I heard that in her shoes, I'd be upset, too. It's true though, that she was wrong about not answering his calls and then wondering why he'd stop calling lol Idk, people have no knack for communication in this it seems.
I binged the first 8 episodes in one night and LOVED it. It's hilarious, keeps you interested, funny character dynamics etc. But idk, episode 9 and especially 10 were a letdown. Barely any progress, with work and ESPECIALLY romance. I love Ko Won, but I think he should've stayed as a friend and not suddenly developed any romantic feelings. At first, ahjumma was like a neighborhood auntie simply giving comfort by hanging out with him. I feel like that's what he actually needed, a motherly figure, not a romantic interest. Even after discovering her secret, it would have been better had they just remained as friends (even if people (aka Investigator Ju) mistake their relationship). That love triangle is pissing me off. I really hope next episodes are bringing everything back in the game, would be a shame if it went downhill from here. We already know who the bad guy is, so I wonder how they're gonna keep the suspense for the remaining 6 episodes.
Also, as a side note, I hate it when people meddle too much, even if they're close. F.e. Ko Won answering FL's phone in her absence is an absolute no-go (and then telling the guy he'd let her know he'd called and then not doing so for a couple of days...). And the best friend lying to ML about how FL goes around kissing everyone when she's drunk, I don't understand that either.... ah man, frustrating episode, really.
The acting is good. The songs are vvvery good, especially Sonaki. I listen to it on loop. The story is a bit confusing,…
I think it's related to Im Sol's fanclub (kidnap Sunjae and run), or in Korean ì„ ìž¬ ì—…ê³ íŠ€ì–´ (Carry SunJae (on the back) running (away)). And of course if you think about it, she saved his life that way.
I wished the final episode had been longer, it felt a little rushed. I am also upset we didn't get more Kim Sun Gook, his interactions with Ji Yeon were so funny.
