Well, I think character development is something important, so if he is actually going to change, I might give it a chance. Even so, I am rarely wrong with my first impressions, or rather, I don't change my mind easily. It's not even that I just don't care for him as a character, I seriously dislike him and could barely finish the second episode because of that.

I've only watched two episodes so far, but somehow I am not sure I should continue. For some reason I really cannot find Hyun Jae likeable. He's a narcissist, somewhat dumb (like, even after he finds out and accepts he has travelled in time, he keeps acting as if everyone would know who he is and he's still the shit. Face it man, your time is loooong over), is constantly shouting and comes across as super selfish. I cannot find a single character trait to like in him. Will this get any better? Maybe I should drop it, I will definitely never belong to #TeamHyunJae.
On a side note (this isn't a spoiler, since it is revealed in episode 1), I find it slightly off-putting that father and son are fighting over one girl. Even if time-travel is involved, it just doesn't sit right with me.

In the first episode he chastises someone (I think it's Tae Min, but I don't remember well) for looking more like an idol, rather than a writer. A writer should be as changeable as an actor and as blank as a sheet of paper... Because a writer constantly needs to put himself into different situations, in his mind or in real life, to be able to write realistically. That's why he keeps his hair short. At least that is what I remember, It's been a while since I saw it, hehe.

completely agree with you! In many Anime shows, where the run time is only 25 minutes or less, I disliked the forced cliffhanger endings after only 20 minutes. And then the recap the next episode. It's an endless cycle. I think 45 minutes run time should be the minimum

what I really hate about the split episodes is 1. when they simply make a cut, but there is no actual conclusion to the episode, it is basically just a random scene right in the middle. That means there is no change in the format/buildup of the episode, they simply cut it in half because they need to do so. 2. When they start the next episode, we first get to see a 5 minute long recap of what happened previously. Now, I know I cannot really take 'my only love song' as a comparison to major broadcasting shows, but it just popped into my head, because geeeez, that was annoying.... Unfortunately it happens more and more...

OMG, director will be Kim Jin Won, who also directed Innocent Man and I remember You. I cannot wait! I really hope Junho will take the role, I adored him in Chief Kim as Yul.

I just finished this amazing drama, and what a ride it was! The comedy in this is unsurpassable, I swear you will be laughing through tears. Many times I just found myself bursting out loud due the sheer genius comedic writing. Although that isn't all: The series teaches morals and life lessons, and we deeply feel for the characters who are faced with difficult decisions. I barely ever watch dramas without romance, but don't let that keep you from watching this gem. My favourites, of course, were Chief Kim and the Gluttonous Sociopath Seo Yul, haha. Those two will go down as one of the best bromances in history, just a match made in heaven HAHA I will rate this a 9/10, because as much as I loved it, and I will probably rewatch it when I feel like a need a cheering-up, it could have used a tiny bit of spice to fire things up even more.
Anyway, highly recommended, one of the best series this year!

That might be true, however: His only ever goal was to avenge his 'father', at least in the very beginning. This shifted into a sense of righteousness only much later. I believe that he knew he could only uphold his fake persona by using the wealth Steve Lee accumulated, and they were necessary evils to get him what he wanted. We don't know what path he would take once everything is over and done (it has been too long since I saw this, anyway...), but I imagine he received a decent salary at the Blue House since he was a sought after 'genius' after all. He might have donated most of the wealth (if he was even the heir to Steve Lee in the first place)

I haven't seen Cruel City, but personally I enjoyed City Hunter much more than Healer. Healer was more of a pure romance drama, the action plot was somewhat of a sidedish, as opposed to City Hunter.
I would say, if you enjoyed 'Time Between Dog and Wolf', you will most likely also like City Hunter. Watch the first two episodes to decide if you like it. They deliver the background story and I was hooked from the first scene onwards.

You should watch Chief Kim to see Nam Gung Min in a fantastic comedy role. That drama made me laugh way too much!

No, I don't think they did. I guess they fooled everyone present, except for the ones who knew about the plan. How? No clue. Maybe the writers don't know either xD

Totally omg! Han Se Ju's mistake nr. 1: His hairstyle (although he explains in episode 1 why he has it...), Han Se Ju's mistake nr 2: His fashion sense. URGH. No. Just no. Someone please, fire that stylist, because it is just not attractive.

The final three episodes are among the best, so you won't be disappointed :)

I just finished this drama, and I have to say: It's been a crazy ride. I loved almost everything about it: The cast, the plot, the setting, the music, the characters and the WRITING, I swear, some of those lines just grip you and never let you go. I must admit that I found the 30s setting much more intriguing, and the present parts were sometimes a bit draggy (especially Baek Tae Min's part annoyed me at some point, although he was an excellent villain).
However, the final three episodes were superb and bumped my appreciation for this show by quite a bit. I regret none of the tears that were shed. All in all I whole-heartedly recommend this drama. It is a painfully beautiful tale about love, friendship and camaraderie that even transcends time, and should not be missed! 9/10

Naturally, but I am talking about numbers, scores, not written criticism :) As you said, giving information so people know what to expect and what not to expect as to not be disappointed, is what the comment section (and reviews, too I suppose) is for. I was not trying to start an argument here, I never even disagreed with you. The only thing I did not understand was your way of telling people not to compare the production with one of a major broadcasting station. Anyway, I think the one thing we do agree on, is that people should give it a shot with an open mind and see if they like it or not, right? :)

What you say is all true and legit. However, what people base their rating on, doesn't change with 'it's supposed to be' or 'production costs' or whatever. The rating here should be given objectively (although, of course, enjoyment does always play a big part in it, no way around it), so when the writing, acting, settings, editing and mostly, plot, leave something to be desired, I will take that into account. I am not saying that I did not enjoy it, because I did, but all these flaws (even if they are 'meant to be' that way) cut into how MUCH I enjoyed it. Taking that into consideration, on top of all other factors, I would end up with a score of 6.5, which is actually quite generous. People who score according to quality, rather than personal enjoyment, do it because that is what is expected on this platform, not out of spite. And well, let's not talk about haters, because haters are gonna hate, they're a completely different species.

So yeah, tl;dr: A production doesn't objectively become any better, just because it is 'meant to be' a certain way. It deserves to be critiqued the exact same way as everything else as well.

Okay, so there is so much wrong with this drama that I won't even start xD That said, don't expect a masterpiece, or anything grand. If you just need a fluffy, funny romcom time-travel drama, this is for you, though. As long as you don't question anything (and I mean a lot, because you will stumble over a mine-field of plot-holes), this is actually quite enjoyable.

I do have to advise to first watch "Queen In Hyun's Man" to everyone into time-travel romances, though. It is a fantastic drama, a hundred times better than this one here, though. Definitely give it a shot :)

I wanted to watch a drama that, for once, isn't set in Seoul, so I tried to give this a shot, as the plot sounded very interesting. Halfway through episode 3, I am afraid I have to drop this. It's not that the drama is really bad, it's just not my cup of tea. The writing is too clumsy, the acting mediocre at best (although the leading man is making a good figure so far) and the dialect is going on my nerves. Also, just from the first three episodes I have to say that Tae Seong doesn't deserve his wife.

Anyway, I am not saying "don't watch this", there have been a lot of positive comments, so I suggest you just watch two or three episodes and decide for yourself whether you like it or not.
