Some people just have guest roles and are no supporting characters. They are needed for a certain development or moment in the show, why do you have to force their appearance later on? That's BS.

Whatever you are criticizing, it all has to do with the character's behavior and it is all very subjective. You keep saying 'common sense', but that's just not what this is about. People are insecure. People are afraid. People cannot see the future, so they are ever so hesitant to make a decision. If you could not see the worries and problems everyone faced, even though some were plainly outspoken, some could be read between the lines or dynamics of characters and surroundings, then maybe you're just not as good at picking them up. There were plenty of reasons not to make the relationship between Joo man and Seul Hee public (his pending promotion, being afraid of not getting recognized, of falling behind, of not being good enough, of being criticized, of standing in the way etc...) Have you never been so afraid of certain consequences, when in the end it all wasn't such a big deal? You can never be sure before it has happened.
Secondly, Joo Man DID resist, he told her like 10 times to please stop coming on to him. What should he have done? Give her a slap? Yes, he shouldn't have lied, but that's HUMAN after all, and he explains it to Seul Hee. Frankly, what happened in their relationship is one of the truest and most realistic depictions of a relationship I have ever seen in a drama, and yes, I am speaking from experience here.

About the marriage: Dong Man asked her to wait for 2 months for him. By that point he was going to quit MMA fighting. He just wanted to settle the fight with his demons, and then go back to her. Yeah, in the end we see that he still plans to fight on, but they also said that they had wanted to keep it from her for a while. The reason why she said yes was 1. because she realized that she loves him too much to give him up, 2. because he said he would stop for her (reading between the lines here, it's obvious), 3. because he can obviously kick-ass and came out alive and well. People make mistakes and are weak, and people change their minds, it has nothing to do with having no backbone or whatever.
It seems to me you have a rather strict view upon how people should behave and act, when in reality people have more vices than virtues.
This is another reason why I loved this drama so much. It doesn't sugarcoat.
But anyway, people have different tastes and apparently yours just wasn't met, nothing wrong with that.

I am searching for the right words to convey my feelings for this drama. Let's start by saying that I didn't expect much from it. It's a 2 hour special, what depth could there be in such a short time? Boy, was I wrong. In drama land you will rarely find such realism and raw emotions where you can see yourself and your surroundings in every aspect of their lives. There just isn't a single person (I am not calling them characters, because the drama is so down-to-earth, so human, that it is hard to believe they are just playing roles) that seems exaggerated and even the depiction of family and relationships are written and acted out perfectly. I recommend it to everyone looking for something that is different than your average K-drama, something that makes you think and relate. Also, the main couple is just ridiculously adorable together.

I have not watched this drama, but what you said about the writer not writing a drama again: I sure hope he does, because Blood was written by the same writer that wrote 'Chief Kim' and 'Good Doctor', two greatly written dramas. Just because a drama ends up not meeting our expectations, it doesn't always mean it is the writers' fault.

I have not seen this drama because of all the bad comments, but now i am seriously SHOCKED, because I found out that the writer is the same writer than wrote two of my favorite dramas and real gems 'Good Doctor' and 2017s 'Chief Kim'. Should I give this a shot if I enjoyed both of those dramas?

The glasses guy doesn't last very long, and the reason he disappears was actually a plot twist I never saw coming. I don't consider it a triangle because it is obvious that she doesn't have any feelings for him whatsoever. Same goes for the crazy ex as you call her. As long as two people like each other and don't let others come between them, in my opinion it is just a relationship or romance with side characters trying to butt in. It is not a love triangle (cause I really hate love triangles that are either bitches or that make you hurt for one of them, like Jealousy Incarnate etc. urgh)

I absolutely agree with the combo of 'It's okay that's love'. It's my favorite drama up to date, and I also enjoyed that Winter the Wind blows immensely. I have yet to watch Padam Padam, I've avoided it because, boy, i know it'll make me cry rivers.

Agree with DOTS and Goblin, as well, epic series with flaws that you just want to overlook.

I am a huge fan of your Romcom Honorable Mention 'Marriage not Dating' and especially 'Another Miss Oh', more so than the Hong's sisters work (although Gong Hyo Jin is always gold, of course)

I am proud (?) to say I've stayed away from all of those, except for the nr. 1 spot of Bromance. I had such high expectations for this. The first episode was killer. Unfortunately, it only became worse as time went on. And unfortunately, I don't belong to those people who can find a really bad drama really good. So, yeah, for me, a bad drama is just bad. Good article nonetheless.

Just because you feel like it's 6.5 at best, it doesn't mean your opinion is above the ones that have rated it 10, does it? I also don't think it deserves a full score, but opinions vary. Overall it had fantastic acting, nice writing, good pacing, good editing and cinematography, a realistic take on relationships, not too many clichés, and amazing comedy. Most of all, it was highly entertaining and in my opinion not boring for a minute. There was no unnecessary drama. I rate it a 8.5, and I tend to rate dramas lower rather than higher. Really, eventually it all comes down to personal preference.

While I cannot say it is among the best dramas I've ever seen, this is a lighthearted comedy with loads of romance and passion for young people who might or might not be following their dreams. It is painfully realistic in some aspects, yet inspiring in others, swoon-worthy in some moments and heartbreakingly sad in others. I really love the main characters, their undying friendship and support, and especially the coach and namil ajumma!
If there is one thing I feel that didn't get enough screen time in the end, it is Ae Ra's progession as an MC. They barely ever showed her announcing anything. I feel like it was unrealistic and unfortunate, as she really shined in her 'accidental' on-stage moments earlier in the show.
For those that need a feel-good show that makes you feel proud to be young and reckless and with some really lovely romance, I would totally recommend this drama! 8.5/10 from me.

There are quite a few exciting moments waiting for you in the last few episodes, but if you got bored with it, maybe it really just isn't for you. I didn't have a moment where I thought about dropping it and finished it all in three days. I really loved this drama. And nope, no triangles to be found.

Unfortunately, it is somewhat true. That's because the 'cliché' K-drama dynamics are like this:
4 leads, the leading lady is either anti-social, too hard working (so she doesn't have any time for friends lol), or too successful and has been betrayed before. So she doesn't have any friends beside on occasion her BFF (the only person that could ever understand a poor soul like her), and in many cases that BFF turns out to be the second male lead. So, we have the two guys who are usually interested in our leading lady, and sometimes they form a bromance.
Now, it would be boring if the second female lead was now the leading ladies best friend, right? (oh wait, we did have that in High Society). So, we do have sisterhood in k-dramas, but unlike the bromances, they are not the second female lead, and usually get a lot less screen time.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Oh my Venus, Queen In Hyun's man, Age of Youth, Weightlifting Fairy, Marriage not Dating (I never quite figured out how much they truly care for each other), High Society, One more happy ending (!)...

I think if it had been Eun Hyuk, it'd have been more cliché. It's usually always the second male lead that gets killed or ends up in an accident.

I am wondering if you watched far enough to get to the plot twist involving Hyun Soo. I also felt like it became a bit draggy near the end, but this plot twist in court gave me new appreciation for the writers and especially the acting on Dong Ha's part. 4 episodes really is nothing, I think you could give it another two hours of your life, just to have a closure :)

While I admit that the end/latter episodes were somewhat draggy, I don't think it turned super boring. Yes, the beginning was the bomb, and the developments later in the show unfortunately couldn't keep up with it, but it's still a good show. Especially the character dynamics are amazing. Oh, and there IS a really good plot twist in the final like 4 to 5 episodes, so I advise everyone to stick around until then. I for my part was really surprised and applaud the writers and actors for pulling it off that well.
I am torn between 7.5 and 8.0, but for now I decided to stick to the higher score, for the sake of the amazing actors.

I agree with you one hundred percent. The plot about the two main leads is very simple and while cute, sometimes fails to deliver. I enjoyed it a lot, but I cannot say it's the birth of a new masterpiece or sets the bars higher or anything. It's just a fantastically well-produced drama with amazing cast and comedy, yet unfortunately lacks a spark in the plot department.

Ah, and that summary here on MDL is really bad. Can someone please change it? The last three sentences are just not what this drama is about.

For me it is the other way around. I liked Gumiho, but compared to this one I thought in the end it was just another drama. Oh my Venus has a much more mature approach and outlook on life. I think it depends where you stand in life as well. Gumiho, to me personally, feels like a great watch for people in high school or those who have just started University. Oh my Venus tackles a lot of issues that young adults face: Work, family, illness, loneliness, betrayal, trust in a relationship and so on...
I think you could definitely give both a shot, though.

I've already watched this drama 4 times, and I just love it to pieces. It's a feel-good drama with a lot of heart and laughter, but also pain and struggles. It is true, it is more on the lighthearted side, but what in my opinion makes it stand out from the rest, is that the sad and painful moments are not trivial. Each one is carefully placed and considered, which is why I can appreciate them much more than all those mediocre dramas where they add trouble and tearjerkers, simply to make you cry, even though the story doesn't ask for it.
Oh my Venus is so much more down-to-earth and 'real', even with its chaebol world (which it luckily doesn't focus on too much) and comedy.
I whole heartedly recommend it to everyone who loves amazing chemistry, real relationships and a sentimental slice-of-life. I gave it a 9, even though now I cannot really remember why I haven't rated it higher. Maybe because it's 'only' a romcom, which shouldn't be a factor at all. Also, I have to add that my love for Chief Min almost rivals that of our three main bros. He is just the bomb! (And in the very last shot we get to see him smile, hehe)

Yeah, I gave it another shot, but episode 3 was already worse enough, so I am dropping it. No reason to torture ourselves with dramas that just aren't our cup of tea, right? :)
