Ah Nian's mother looks the same as Xiao Yao's mom.
At least as far as I know, she is just a doppelganger, possibly to evoke raw emotion from the female lead who still longs for her mother and feels she abandoned her by going to war and dying there and to show that the King Haoling had not moved on from and still longs for her mother despite it being unrequited love.

It felt abrupt for me too. It's as if they realized they needed to somehow wrap up the show because they didn't have any more time.

Jajajaja, I can't stand that he keeps trying to hurt KML. I thought he would get a bit derailed from his plans and just go off into the sunset after he met HT, but nope. I kind of wish KML would behead her. She has done far too much to be forgiven, but he is too nice and they might be redeemed. XD

Ratings are really subjective and just as much as you think it should be lower, others think it should be higher. Not everyone enjoys or dislikes the same dramas. What you feel should be a masterpiece is not what everyone else thinks it's a masterpiece and viceversa. This is an entertainment site, there are no experts here even if they think they are.
