It’s because they’re all friends in the same major. Their only interactions was outside of the base for normal college friend stuff after the App project ended until ZY brought LX into the competition thing because of FZJ. Gao was feeling better since LX wasn’t interested in the competition and was only going to attend the forum for business purposes. I agree they just should never have worked together in programming which is the root of their problems.

I’m going to try and read the novel cause someone said Gao didn’t take things as hard as he did in the drama.

IMO, there was only a few times Gao was treated badly but as one of the other viewers said, it was not always intentional and mostly driven by circumstances. LX lacks patience to convince someone who he feels is capable enough to already see what he thinks is the right thing to do. From my observation, Gao is actually arrogant just not in an overt way which is why they butt heads over certain things like how to designed the capacity of the app (Gao stopped at current users for capacity while LX wanted to maximize capacity as users will increase with better access-app). It’s one of those test questions with 2 right answers, but one answer is more right. The first instance with the website project, Gao asked for LX’s opinion but didn’t really want it since he was so confident in his design/coding and had a counter for everything LX said so LX just shrugged and let them go with it. However, it was a big project for them so LX had a back-up and saved the day when Gao’s nervousness and design almost blew the presentation. Of course, as LX sucks at people skills, he never explains himself and just let Gao think whatever he wants to think which is that LX purposefully humiliated him. I see both sides and felt for Gao at that time but it wouldn’t have developed into such a deep seated hatred if he didn’t already fail his own expectations and it seems like LX will bear the blame for all of his unmet expectations. It’s like what he told ZY, all throughout growing up, he was always going home with the awards and had the best grades until he met LX. I’m not saying LX is completely blameless since his personality was a catalyst for Gao’s feelings of inadequacy.

I remember this from college graduation. It’s the last moments of innocence where anything is possible before facing the real world. It’s a bittersweet moment in time.

I guess I see the definition of 2ML and 2FL differently. For me, it has nothing to do with romantic entanglements with the lead characters. 2ML and 2FL for me are secondary main characters that have a big part in the plot whether they are romantically interested in the lead characters or not. So in L&P, I consider Gao the 2ML and the closest to 2FL is RenDi since none of the other females had a prominent role in part 1. The other male romantic interests in part 1 are not prominent enough to be considered 2ML either. I also look at the order of their billeted parts as well. Ma Ke is more like a guest role so far.

1. Break-up at end of part 1 due to ML decisions. Picks back up in part 2 after going rough stuff.
2. 2ML is both supporting and antagonist. He starts out one way then turns and you’ll see the process.

No real 2FL, just good support friends and a couple of girls with non-existent romantic notions but no obsession. A couple of males interested in FL as well and one of them is supportive type so far since they’re childhood friends. Someone on twitter said it’s about 80% similar to the novel, except ML is not a player or as big of a jerk as in novel and FL is stronger than in novel.

I didn’t read everything yet but ZY in drama is a stronger character than in the novel.

I see…I might try to read the novel this weekend. I only read the part where they let the grudge go in the end because Gao had cancer. Their company got the investment and grew.

Can’t wait for Part 2. So wish they offered fast-pass.

Yeah, in the novel, her mom doesn’t even use Li as the last name for their children. She only acknowledges their first names. She never accepted him. LX would wait for his family in the nearby hotel while ZY and kids paid her parents the New Year visit.

From my observation, he actually has people skills when it serves his purpose…for business. He’s met with business people who would like to work with him on projects. I feel the same. For me, RenDi was SFL in first part.

The competition was on their campus this time with their professor as one of the hosts so there was no avoiding that.

Gao’s smirk is because he orchestrated the whole situation. He hinted at LX’s sister to FZJ and then kept pushing the blame of Li Lan’s accident onto FZJ every time he was with LX as a way to push him to react. Violence is never a solution but he was angry and probably the fact that FZJ basically gets away with everything while he had no power to stop him.

I think it may be the characters she picks or something. They seem all the same to me. I’m not sure if she chooses these characters because they’re the opposite of her idol days? I remember when I first saw her in a drama, I didn’t initially connect her with F(X) Victoria. It’s kind of like how people didn’t connect Eugene in Penthouse as a 1st generation KPOP idol.

I only say that about bias ratings because I’ve seen it written in the review section of some dramas after only 1 or 2 episodes have aired. 🤷🏻‍♀️ For me, if I dropped at first episode, I click dropped but don’t rate.

TBH, for shows that have finished, I read the reviews versus the ratings. The spoilers in the reviews (even if the reviewer didn’t like the drama) usually tells me if it’s something I’ll be interested in.

Lol…definitely agree on that. It’s better than the MangoTV ones I’ve seen on YouTube. I just hope YouKu catches up to iQiyi and Tencent on the international apps. It’s my first time using it. Couldn’t wait for the L&P YouTube uploads. 😆

That doesn’t mean she accepts it. She tolerates but doesn’t accept. I know many Asian parents like that when their child’s partner is not up to their expectations.
