The female lead never showed her feelings to the king because it's the only thing she could really own. She was…
It’s really each viewer’s individual perspective and expectations on what they can gather from a character as it’s portrayed. I am one of those that actually caught on early as to the feelings of both ML and FL from their expressions and eyes. From my perspective, the big difference from the two characters in how they were directed to act is based on their characters’ status and also their characters understanding of interpersonal relationships. You can see this as each time Doek-Im realizes she almost showed her true feelings for San, she pulls back. All of it started when she realized CL Jo had been grooming her from the start. According to the director, Seyoung had the toughest role to play and they knew it because unlike Junho/San, who could verbalize everything and command everything because it’s written in history, Seyoung/Doek-Im couldn’t do that since IRL, her thoughts and feelings were unknown.
Regarding what she said to him before dying, from the director: About deokim last line "in the next life just pass by as if you dont know me" "It's Deokim sincerity, it's like saying 'I love you so much it'll be painful to meet you again... “
The novel version showed that Doek-Im explained to San about not wanting to meet in the next life because she wants to live normally with a husband and children she can call her own, but San likes being King so please pass her by since they would just repeat this cycle. They didn’t do that in the drama which left a bad taste for some viewers, but they had Doek-Im express more of her love in the drama than the novel with her last lines that “If I hadn’t wanted you, I would have ran away no matter how. It was my final decision to stay by your side.” I loved how someone on Twitter pointed out their differing love languages, San as words of affirmation and Doek-Im as acts of service and how this can cause misunderstandings.
Anyways, always nice to be able to discuss everyone’s POV. 😊
Not available on Netflix is a main reason... Our beloved summer is not as popular as red sleeve but it has more…
Initially, as everyone mentioned, some people were skeptical because Junho is 2nd Gen idol and Seyoung doesn’t play to the mainstream crowd in the roles she’s recently selected before TRS (Kairos). They’re both very out of the box for their careers and have done things their own way. From what I’ve read, their long time fans appreciate their approach to their career and personal privacy as they had both traveled bumpy paths to get to where they want to go.
TRS is not the usual “idol” fusion historical with the normal relationship formula of boy meets girl, boy/girl fall for each other overcoming a few obstacles, then happy ending. Many weren’t expecting all the rejections to last as long as it did (matching history) or understand the nuances of the characters since the FL wasn’t the typical protagonist.
One more thing, honestly in the beginning I didn't get why she kept rejecting him when she obviously loved him…
That’s what I love about this drama. Her feelings were subtle because she had to hide them but you can see it in her expressions that she loved him even though she rejected him. The way their characters are portrayed by both Junho and Seyoung match perfectly with their status with the exception of her being a little freer with her speech when they’re in private.
I’ve had favourite OSTs from a drama before but never favourite BGM from a drama… LMAO TRS plzzz u r ruining…
Same here…I normally don’t pay too much attention to the BGM because they sometimes don’t fit and detract from the drama but TRS has been different all around with the details. This is the first time I want everything for a drama.
here's the link for the OST:https://vibe.naver.com/album/6939631EDIT:they just uploaded it on youtubehttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfPUwKpMlpjr1JfCHD63NUpDNfQ9nwyyp
Like you guys said…it’s literally like rewatching the drama again. This is the first time I’m invested in the BGM of a drama and not just the OST. 😭
As I have been rewatching this drama, I am just so amazed at how good it is. It's not perfect, but there's so…
I believe the blu-ray was confirmed with lots of content…just hoping it’ll be subbed. On Twitter, there’s chip-ins for groups that are going to pay someone to sub on their own.
Quick question...was reading stories aloud really a punishable crime?
Anything was a punishable crime if it offended a royal member just like that one passage in the book of records that referred to YeongJo’s mother as being low-born. Also, if there was neglect in their duties. I don’t believe there was a law against it though.
In an interview Junho said his father was proud that he got to portray one of the ancestors. I didn’t realize how huge that royal family line was but there’s an association that keeps records of the genealogy and includes sun-associations in Japan and the US (Chicago, LA).
Darn MBC, we could have had 20 eps which would have included the happy family time with baby Munyo 😩 They really underestimated TRS.
