Shoutout to all the people that saw the OG like i did years ago with 77EPS! where we lived the story with them…
It’s not the same kind of story telling so it can’t really be compared. This one focuses more on the court lady’s perspective and the inner thought of both leads as they go through the development of their relationship. The original was mostly all about Jeongjo’s life.
Love Lee Seyoung’s acting and personality. I wanna see her in a good female-centric drama. It could be a rom-com,…
Yes!! Would love to see something like Charlie’s Angels. 3 strong savvy/sassy women in action…haven’t seen an Asian production like that yet that’s been done well.
is there anyone here whom it's their first time to watch a sageuk?? my friend wants to watch it bc i keep tweeting…
It depends if they like heavy melodramas with cultural nuances. As long as they don’t go into it expecting something like King’s Affection or Love in the Moonlight, they may enjoy it as much as the rest of us.
I wonder what her next drama will be, a modern one??
Love Lee Seyoung’s acting and personality. I wanna see her in a good female-centric drama. It could be a rom-com, melodrama, preferably action, but I want to see her in a role where she’s the center along with a bad-a** group of girlfriends. Probably not a good example but like Jang Nara’s One More Happy Ending or I Need Romance (Sex and the City feel of strong female friendship). I think she talked about wanting to do a drama like this with IU in an interview.
An ordinary concubine? No, thank u. A concubine like Deok Mi? Hell yes. The King was head over heels in love with…
She did accept being with her love, the King. It wasn’t about public appearances but about what is truly hers. There’s a difference between people talking badly about you and being able to call a child you bore for 9 months and gave birth to yours. A lot of things can take a mental toll. As a concubine, you can’t have any expectations or you’ll be disappointed when duty is chosen over you. She had a lot of internal conflict, being happy one moment and sad the next. She never disclosed her feelings so as to not burden the person she loved so he never fully saw the emotional struggles she was going through. Anyways, loved the drama and the two characters.
I would still not want to be either a court lady or concubine. It’s no wonder parents would try to marry their daughters off before court lady recruitment (commoners) and concubine selection (nobility) to avoid them being trapped by the palace.

That’s the point…she loves him enough to not put him in the position of “expanding” the rules. He’s very rigid with the law and can only stand up for her to a certain extent. There are certain rules that will never be expanded even by him. It wasn’t just that she couldn’t leave the palace. I wish they showed the family moments and people would understand there’s other issues. She could never call her husband and children her own in public and they couldn’t call her mother except in private. The King going out in disguise is different than the concubine. Even the Queen isn’t allowed to unless it’s for official business (certain ceremonies). The Queen Dowager wasn’t even allowed to go to her brother’s funeral.
I wouldn’t want to be either Court Lady or Concubine.
There’s a director’s cut blu-ray that is supposed to come out later in the year. It’s supposed to include BTS, extended scenes and cut scenes. Pre-order was in Dec. Hopefully it happens.
I’m curious, what was everyone’s first sageuk drama? Mine was Jewel in the Palace (2003).
I can’t remember which one was first, either Moon Embracing the Sun or DongYi. I was able to binge watch since they were already completed by the time I got into sageuks.
Ok can someone explain why I have tears in my eyes reading these interviews from junho and seyoung… I swear…
Waiting for the translation of the full interviews. Looks like each source cut parts of the interviews that their program focused on such as K-pop, TRS, future work, etc.
I was thinking the same and I can most definitely feel the hype, but curious why we only have about 14k watchers…

The casting director did an awesome job. Not only did Doek-Im and her brother look alike but so did Doek-Im and her son.
G4 are too cute.
