Title Teach You a Lesson Spoiler
I loved the first two episodes. The first one being dark and thought provoking and the second one fun, comical,…
I am aware that there are laws protecting minors, especially those in middle school. Though I'm not well-versed, it still didn't sense 90% of the time. The point is typically that first offenders are let off with warnings or community service if the crimes are more severe, but these kids had supposedly been to the police station a many times and the parents didn't know nor had they been arrested for anything??

The first sequence is insane. It's not ooh kids steal a car. It's grand theft auto, driving without a licence, reckless endangerment, theft of illegal fireworks (you have to be 18 to buy), attempted and probably actual assault on passerbys due to the fireworks they were shooting from the car, destruction of public and private property, and probably more from that single scene.

You're telling me that they almost killed how many people, caused how many car accidents, and wounded or blinded how many passerbys? Yet there were no official police reports, no arrests, and they didn't even call their parents?

Then those same kids are committing drug trafficking, coercion, assault, and tricking people into taking drugs? And that would be hard to get jail time as minors for??

The "lesson" in this one rubbed me the wrong way. The comedic tone didn't match as it shifted from student becoming addicted to drugs and repeatedly assaulted to haha look at them struggle with cleaning in juvie. Just because those kids didn't kill anyone, it doesn't mean they haven't caused and won't later cause deaths. Drug addiction kills so many people, yet because they didn't murder anyone within the hour episode, the tone for them was comedic.

I realize that I'm super nit-picky here. But I thought the point of the show was to be thought-provoking, explore moral dilemmas, and balance action and comedy? Instead the writers just seemed confused 60% of the time.

I loved the first two episodes. The first one being dark and thought provoking and the second one fun, comical, and overtop. Both episodes had very different tones, but were effective and really well done. But the actual lessons, writing, and tonal shifts don't make much sense as the story moves along.

Episode six especially bugged me-my confusion and complaints below.

The biggest thing the show lacks is nuance. The point is to look at how the education system has failed teachers and students. When you're dealing with human stories, then the individual matters. People aren't 100% bad. Good people make mistakes and bad people do good things. Motives matter. Reasoning matters. This show wants to go big at moments that needs to go small, spectacle over the actual lesson. Why are students lacking empathy? Why are they reckless believing short lived fun to be more important than the pain and death of others? Despite the many serious topics, very few of them are deeply explored, explored through more than one angle, or have an ounce of nuance. If you want an action drama with slight morals, then this is the show. If you want a deeply written thought piece on the idea of an administration to protect education, watch only the first episode. It was the only effective one that didn't let comedy or unequal karma mess with the writing.

Is this the kind of badly done story that makes it weirdly good? Like so bad it's entertaining? Or is this just poorly made and boring? I wanna know if this is worth watching.

I don't normally like cutesy FLs, but the FL totally pulled it off in this. The story was quite lackluster and the romance was stiff. I only made it to episode 6, because I really liked the FL but ended up dropping it.
