There are Meng Zhenzhen and Qin Jieyu from Shen Zaiye's harem in the drama. I really don't want Meng Zhenzhen to be paired with Prince Jing nor Xiang Qingying to be paired with Prince Nan. Seriously, why they have to create a new cp out of nowhere? 😑
I just finished watching it and tbh there is nothing in this drama.
First, it is clearly a super low budget drama. They mostly have indoor shot. Whether it is her mansion, his mansion, her aunt's chamber or the bamboo house. Basically they only move around these 4 places.
Second, there is no fighting scene until the end! It is said she is a general while he is Qianji Pavilion master, yet the fighting scene is so messy and only shows 1-2 movements. FL is incredibly weak!
Third, the acting is mediocre. There is almost no soul. Hu Yiyao is pretty, but her expression is the same all the time. Then we have the crown prince who is prettier than a woman, but he overacts and keeps flapping his sleeves. The two right hand men are also so dull.
Fourth, the story keeps going around and around bcos no one bothers to tell FL the truth. Basically you can skip it until the last 3 eps.
I can't find the good points of this drama. But tbh I was indeed curious to see the ending of the second couple since the pairing is unexpected. Yes I knew how they would end, but somehow I wanted to see if the writer is bold enough to create something.
Tbh when I first saw Ci Sha, I thought he is too handsome, mature, charismatic to be Guo Jing. He is more suitable to play Guo Jing in his 30s.
Then they changed Huang Rong's character. This Rong'er is cute, sweet, kindhearted and sympathetic. Huang Rong is famous as little demoness, selfish, cruel and cunning, she won't help unless necessary. Did they try to make a likeable FL to prevent criticism?
The major upset, like everyone else, is the fact they cut the whole childhood story! It is very important to show why Guo Jing is very close to the Mongolians as well as why he is known as the Condor Hero. They also randomly showed the flashbacks from 18 years ago.
Both the story and the leads are a letdown.
However I must praise the martial arts and the actors who worked hard to master the moves 👏👏👏 This is what wuxia should be! A lot and a lot of fighting with each character has their own signature techniques. The fighting scenes are also beautifully captured. There is no unnecessary slo-mo, visual close up shot, or merry-go-round turning. Just pure action.
It makes me want to see the prequel parts even more! They should've shown it first 😭
Idk why I started to watch this, but then I realized it was a bad decision so I dropped it.
My main problems with this drama: 1. The visuals of the main cp is bothering me. Tiantian has such a babyface, super small face. The ML has a big and adult face. Top it with their height difference, in my eyes I'm seeing an uncle seducing his own niece, especially when he lifts her to stand on top of the table. I kept thinking "Don't touch her!" 😱
2. ML fell in love with FL after she said "This is lotus, not peach." Seriously???
3. The acting was so awkward. Along with the cheesiest scripts with overacting people, top it with out of the place comedy.
4. FL's character put me off. She is a noble lady, yet she acts like a thug. She doesn't know etiquette, she sits like a beggar, and her attitude is no different from the woman in the market.
I dropped it at ep 14. Idk how did I managed to get that far 🙄
Tiantian is better matched with another babyface actor, like Zhou Yiran, Huang Minghao, Guo Junchen, Wu Junting, etc.

Meanwhile in the novel, Mingyue was still a virgin when she married Li Chi. They got married in proper manner bcos she is his first legitimate wife and will be the princess consort.

Mingyue was 12 and hadn't had her period. So the emperor had to wait about 2 years. Mingyue refused to serve, so she committed suicide and was sent to cold palace. Then, Zui saved her and changed her identity.

The poison in Zui is cured bcos Wanyin stole the antidote from Pei Che (if I'm not wrong). So the last half of the novel, is the preparation to ascend the throne.
Li Chi married Jiang Mingyue and gave her amnesiac drugs. Mingyue regained her memories and helped Zui with his plans. Li Chi is deeply in love with Mingyue and committed suicide after meeting her and their daughter for the last time.
Li Chi also poisoned Wanyin which connects their life together. So Zui can't kill him. Zui asked Pei Che to help him cure Wanyin.
After Zui ascended the throne, he claimed Mingyue as his lost sister and granted her a princess status and married her with Tinghan.
In the novel Zui and Wanyin have a very happy marriage life. In the end Zui gave his throne to his son and traveled in incognito with Wanyin.

I don't watch this drama, but I watched Revenge of Begonia. His character there is cold, but loves the FL so much that he treats her affectionately. He spoils and protects her. Definitely not a red flag, more like a sweet but tough guy who "talk less, do more".
I believe the last two have a better storyline and more action vs cgi. I think these two will be a lot better.
Yes, Sword and Beloved happens around the same time with Red Moon Pact bcos both are telling the stories of the second generation. Love in Pavilion is the parent story.

It's been a long time since I've seen such a stupid FL after Xiao Yanzi 🤦♀️ Her father was a general who became Grand Tutor, yet she can't even read??? Was she raised by lions? 3. The FL turns into a clumsy, weak and useless girl who can be beaten in just 1 move. 4. In just 6 eps, she said the word "kill" for more than 20 times! I actually lost count. She talks big, but doesn't have the ability to do anything! 5. FL can only throw shuriken without actual moves, unlike in the first eps. I thought she was the top assassin? 6. Sometimes it feels like ML is raising a dog instead of having a gf bcos she keeps barking. 7. Except ML, Mo Wei and the empress, other characters are so dumb and childish.
Idk how did I survive watching it until the end 😑
In summary, this is a comedy drama with slight mystery. The plot is to uncover the truth about the incident 16 years ago.
Idk why I decided to watch this, but turns out it is enjoyable! It is the enemies to lovers troupe, just like any other mini drama.
1. FL is cool and strong, and she doesn't get weak and useless like any other drama when she faces the ML. She is still strong, wary, and capable. She does her own thing and doesn't budge a bit. 2. ML is reasonable, kind and a bit flirtatious. 3. It is a very lighthearted drama with a lot of comedy. 4. The fighting scenes are well done! 5. The main boss doesn't feel like main boss. 6. The drama is mostly about the couple get to know e/o before they finally become official. 7. This drama is just 5-7 mins per eps! 8. Both leads are stunning, the hanfu are pretty and the intimate scenes are so nicely shot. 9. The ending... it is reasonable considering her character.
It is recommended if you want a lighthearted drama with equally strong leads and cute second couple.

Zui became the emperor and claimed Mingyue as his lost sister. Therefore he granted her princess status and married her to Tinghan. They then have another son. Happy ending!
I assume the screenwriter and director hate Mingyue so they scratched her whole story and killed her in the drama.

This one was filmed after Red Moon Pact. It is indeed a prequel. Love in Pavilion has a sad ending bcos FL dies after giving birth. The third installment, Sword and Beloved happens in the same timeline with Red Moon Pact.
The son born by the FL in Love in Pavilion is the ML in Sword and Beloved. While the ML on Red Moon Pact is his cousin.
