I actually don't like historical genre because it seems it always relates to palace politics. But they seem always fascinate me with their costumes, makeup, props, sets, cultures etc etc. I love the historical/Joseon part of this drama tho. Mu Jin and Aeng Cho's romance is tragic but beautiful. Their love is steadfast in comparison of Shin Yu and Hong Jo's romance cos audiences keep wondering and arguing about a fake love caused by a potion and Shin Yu's two-timing.
I actually wished they gave us more of Mu Jin and Aeng Cho instead of fillers of the modern parts.
The ending (episode 24) was so confusing to me. I cannot understand what happened. If you watch it, pls explain.…
The final episode is her fourth life, dated years back before her third life and she's not engaged to anyone. Pei Xun shows up as her new tutor under the name Mu Qing. She asks him if he wants to be a prince, but he covers her mouth, saying if anyone hears it he will be beheaded. She then hugs him. Because as a tutor, it means he's a scholar, not a royal. Her wish to avoid palace politics and live a peaceful life (by marrying a scholar in her third life) appears to come true. At first, I wondered why he was not surprised when she hugged him, considering it was their first meeting. Imo, he remembers his third life (we saw the flashbacks) 😊
But actually, the whole drama is a story told by the storyteller (who was Pei Xun's attendant in the drama). Pei Xun's brother is the real emperor.
Ok, so she goes back to the start of the whole thing and eets Pei xun who is now not a prince but a teacher???…

And does anyone know what the Chinese characters on the last episode's emoji mean? (the one on the candy)

Why he's still working for her? I think because now that he loves her he wants to be close to her genuinely. But with 8 more episodes to go, I doubt we will ever find out who his brother's mysterious woman is unless the drama wants to drop that woman out of nowhere, lol! Takes more episodes to search for another person from the start, let alone that he has to pursue Ban Xia again. I'm afraid it will be a rushed ending.
Someone mentioned last week that the hand is purple. I watched carefully the winter scene on top of the hill, Aeng Cho's hands were both purple before and after the stabbing. Could she also be cursed?
Something is wrong with the plot or pace. Here I am at Ep 14, and they haven't broken up yet. Do I want couples breaking up? No! But the synopsis says they will break up and he will pursue her again. Isn't that why we watch this drama, because of the plot? There are only 10 episodes left. Don't tell me they will break up in the last few episodes and get back together soon. Then the re-pursuit will be lame and shouldn't be in the synopsis.

So tomorrow they better: 1. Meet Hong Jo and Shin Yu's parents (their canceled meeting this episode disappointed me), at least she meets his mom, cos Mom is so sweet giving Hong Jo food for her 'overtime'. 2. Shin Yu falls into a coma and dreams the WHOLE damn past (reveal it for our sake, lol).
