Can I just say how REFRESHING it is to see a drama with this much amount of talented people who also happen to…
Yes!! I also hope more people will discover what real acting looks like. Once they have experienced it, they will no longer be satisfied with pretty faces moving lips in costume.
it should be a teaching what went wrong with The Legend of Anle
Yes, I know what you mean and I agree. It's because the script-writers focus on the plot rather than on characters (contrary to novel writers who often are much more interested in the character development of their protagonists). They have a certain idea in mind of the where plot is supposed to go and then tailor the behaviour of the characters to arrive at the desired result. In many cases this sadly means dumbing down the character because that's the easiest option. Most script-writers seem to be rather "intellectually lazy" in my opinion.

There were many many things that went wrong in this one... For one the inconsistency in their relationship, it permanently jumped from "love you" to "it's impossible" to "hate you" without any clear direction. Kind of reminded me of the FL in TTEOTM. I hate it when people cannot make up their mind!
I am loving it so far and the element of realism in the story is noteworthy, the FL is smart and have good banter…
Exactly! Plus their banter is a lot more amusing to watch than these dreadful slow-motion shots of gazing into each others eyes under a floral rain which in some dramas are repeated approximately twice per episode. It's so boring!
Why do DYX fans always trash the actress? I have goodwill for DYX but it is hard to keep it when I keep seeing…
Saying an actor performs well or poorly in a role is a legitimate criticism of their performance. It is one that all actors (and their fans) have to live with. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with insulting or hating them.
It's how all good historical western romances are done, you need that banter to turn into friendship, which turns…
It's also a lot more realistic than the C-drama classic of the FL tripping over her own feet and falling into some hero's arms with both of them falling in love immediately.

I'm no particular fan of anyone in the drama, I just watched it because it's xianxia. There are many very talented actors and actresses who get cast in support roles for years before they manage to get a lead. It allows them to gather acting experience and improve themselves. When someone with as little talent as YCY gets cast in leading roles from the get go it just makes me feel like some factors other than acting prowess have influenced that choice.
I've watched a few of Ryan Ding's dramas and they're all great. but recently I found the drama quite boring. not…
She's a calamity for any lead actor who is paired with her. Stage presence of a fluff cotton ball... It could be blamed on bad writing if it happened just once, but she was weak in every single drama that I've seen her in. Definitely not leading lady material.
lmfaoooo, i saw the bts of this and it seems like everyone is riding a real horse except the ml
Usually for these close-up shots they use a hobby-horse (with ears and a bit of fur...), but him not moving at all makes it look so fake. Was the BTS that you saw of them riding together on the same horse or something else?
The FL is incredible. smart and empathetic . and not dumbed down like the majority of FLs the ML being this emotionally…
Have you ever met people who actually fought in a hands-on bloody war (I'm not talking about pressing a button to release drones)? They all come back somewhat emotionally damaged. In this sense, I think the ML portrayal of the general is very believable.
despite the fantasy tag, i heard nothing indicates that so far?
I guess this was meant to indicate that that it is made-up history. For the Chinese censorship it is very important to distinguish historical facts from made-up historical characters, hence the "this is fiction" warning before each episode. Other than the exaggerated medical and martial arts skills, I don't think there will be any "fantasy" elements.
There is a saying in my country; there is no smoke where there is no fire.... I hope girl is fine & The Prisoner…
True, but there are also some publicity hungry people who will distort the facts to stir up a fuss. Our initial reacting may be to believe that the woman is always the victim, but sometimes that may be the wrong assumption. Just let the authorities investigate first before jumping to conclusions...
Arrgh, the fake horse riding in ep. 5 was absolutely cringeworthy! I can understand that not every actor feels comfortable on a horse, but would it really be asked for too much to learn how to fake it properly? How can the FL move so much and the ML not at all while sitting on the same horse???

If angry flicking of sleeves could kill she would be dead by now!
