I think there is a rift developing between DZY and LMX as he clearly wants to take the quest for revenge/justice…
I didn't see anyone mention it. If DZY knew she was around it would make sense for the two to meet. LMX's little elves must be on their day off he doesn't seem to get any intel on what's happening (Di Sheng Tian visit, Wen Shuo missing...).
Forever hold your peace left chancellor. Why Princess Anning didn’t get to miss her bodyguard when he goes out…
She is too busy drinking and wallowing in self-pity (could form a self-help group with the Fake). In the drama she is definitely one of the weakest characters. After the glorious introduction of her character in the early episodes this is such a disappointment!
Out of topic. But, it’ll be great to see a drama between Dilraba and William Chan. Like an ancient romance 🥰
Nah, Dilrabe deserves better... I neither like William Chan's looks nor his acting. Since we're making wishes, my dream couple would be Dilraba and Jeremy Tsui.
Here's the synopsis from Douban (machine translation): Tong Zifu, a social animal painter, accidentally entered into her comics and met Wen Jingzhan, the number one painter in Beijing. Wen Jingzhan, who only wanted to join the army, mistook Tong Zifu as a spy sent by his father. During the process of getting along, the two resolved the misunderstanding, established a relationship of trust, grew up together, and came together as they wished.

So HY is locked up in prison and everyone turns up to visit him, yet nobody seems to wonder why his personal attendant…
Yeah, I was confused about the outdoors finale as well, since the flashback clearly shows they were indoors before, but it may have been two separate occasions. The Left Chancellor seems to have sent some sort of blackmail note to HY, I wonder what he was after. Maybe the 2nd meeting was the supposed "handover". Hmh, a brilliant plan... either that or some really dumb move. After what LMX said to him during their trip to the North he seems to be looking for some self-punishment. I think nobody seems to know that WS is missing. In the prison scene I was waiting for HY to tell LMX, but nada, and his spy network seems to be asleep as well.

I think there is a rift developing between DZY and LMX as he clearly wants to take the quest for revenge/justice one step further to regime change. It is not quite clear to me what his motivation is behind this... is it really just him being overzealous? If DZY were to follow through with this, wouldn't she just confirm that the Empress Dowagers apprehension of the Di family was justified? Her ancestors made it quite clear that they didn't want to rule the empire, so for as long as there is a potentially capable ruler (the crown prince), even the injustice they have suffered should make her change course.
Vow, episodes 27-28-29 were a wild ride! Finally this drama is picking up pace and there is some movement and ample opportunity for the actors to show us what they've got...
Can someone who knows Chinese history explain what is the difference between the roles and functions of Left and…
I found this on the internet: --- At the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, the Duke of Qi set up one left and one right prime minister each. During the Warring States Period, King Wu of Qin began to set up one left and one right prime minister each. Because of this, the Qin Dynasty was abolished in later generations. Because in ancient China, whether it was "left" or "right" was not immutable. There were different regulations in different periods and eras. In the Southern Song Dynasty, the right phase was large, the left phase in the Northern Song Dynasty was large, the right phase was large in the Qin Dynasty, the right phase was large in the Han Dynasty, the left phase was large in the early Ming Dynasty, and the Qing Dynasty also respected the left. For example, the left governor was larger than the right governor. --- Usually, but not always, the Left Prime Minister has the higher rank. The fact that there are two prime ministers reflects the emperor's desire for checks and balances, much like in many historicals the princes are competing against each other for the position of the Crown Prince.
I'm on the 3rd episode, but I wish she would end up with Luo Ming Shi, until now I didn't like the Crown Prince.…
Yeah, he comes across as a bit bland in the early episodes. It's due to the scriptwriting that doesn't let him share any of his plans and inner struggle. Novel readers assure us that there is more to his character than meets the eye...
please spoil me what the angst is about. I haven't started this yet
To summarise in a few words: daughter of powerful general was promised in mariage to the crown prince. The empress dowager thinks the general is too powerful and to protect her son, the emperor, has him (and his clan) set up as traitors so the whole clan gets killed. Crown Prince protects his fiancé and she gets banished, switches identity and after 10 years comes back to execute her revenge/seek justice (depending on pow). They fall in love but there's a blood feud between them. It's a bit slow after the first two episodes, but really picks up after ep. 20. Editing and writing isn't the best, but the acting is very good also in the supporting roles (emperor, empress dowager, etc.)

All that whitewashing is so annoying, not even the villains are allowed any bite.
