Hihihi, fortunately I watched this over dinner so wasn't affected by the on-screen alcohol.
Those drinking games in Chinese drama are a bit hard to comprehend with a Western mind. How is it proof of being a real man to drink your liver to shreds? And on the other hand they keep telling each other to rest early or not to get angry because it hurts their health. In other words, health matters, except for when it doesn't.
I don't really get what's up with this Princess from Northern Liang. She's meant to be the most beautiful woman in Northern Liang (or maybe "the world"), so why is she so "not beautiful" at all??? Is this meant as irony? I know beauty standards in ancient China may have been different, but even so...
i am about to start it because some people say its nice
Well, let me sum up some of the qualities of this drama: - Strong, intelligent FL (no stupid cutesy behaviour or pouting) - FL has an adorable maid, super-strong and pretty - Both FL and ML can actually act (not just look pretty) - Good pacing (no stupid fillers, or drawn out scenes with music) - No annoying side characters or despicable SFLs (at least not so far...) - A healthy dose of grown up humour (not slapstick or people behaving like idiots) - Great colour scheme in clothing and decorations (very few pastel colours)
I guess she's like 20 year old girland kinda I disagree..
What on earth are you talking about? Feng Shao Feng is 44 and Jing Tian is 35 years old. The 9 years real-life age difference is barely worth calling it a "gap".
guys what should i doooo😭today that we have no new episode feels like having a hangover.. I guess I'm addicted…
There is a solution, but it needs some preparation... If at the beginning of a new drama you don't binge on all available episodes, you can then spread them out to have at least one episode per day even if there is a 3-day-break in the schedule. Hahaha, I guess it's not the solution you wanted to hear, but for me it works.
On ep. 9 now and this is actually pretty good! The FL is clever without any childish or cutsy behaviour, all the boys are easy on the eye and the pace is good. The story seems to be standard fare but so far it is well written without any glaring plot holes.
Or they get hung up on minor details to judge the whole drama. It's strange how some people are so picky here, when in other dramas the FL being a trainee who cannot act doesn't seem to be a problem at all provided the ML is cute enough and the decor is pink enough.
poor writing i feel sad because both leads would be good with good plot and direction
If given a choice, I'd rather have a simple plot well executed than a complicated plot with bad editing and acting. Since they have a tendency to cut the initial version of dramas left right and centre to meet a given episode quota, complicated plots would make it more difficult to ensure that the overall result is still coherent.
So far this drama is interesting and visually pleasing. A very smart no non sense female lead. And it’s so funny.…
Some clowns already gave a (rather low) overall rating with their provisional review. I guess that drags the whole rating down despite the excellent rating for the individual episodes.
Not true, the Empress Dowager was lovely in Royal Rumours and a few other ones. Here as much as I dislike that bitter old woman, I immensely enjoy the acting. The actress is really good and I love to see that she's given the opportunity to shine.
There's a link in the "recent discussions" section. So far there's only a machine-translated version.
It might be easier to read once you know the people and the rough storyline as sometimes the machine translations can be very confusing in that they always mix up he/she and relations between people (i.e. translating "son" when it should be "master").
Ep. 12 and 13 were so good!! The smoudering chemistry between them is slowly getting out of hand and the dialogue…
... when she said "you're so good to me" just to add a second later "much better even than my father" that was such a romance killer!!! One could literally see the ML's face drop to his knees 🤣🤣🤣🤣
