Why not enjoy each of these dragons (and all past and future dragons) for what they are?

Even the "bad subs" aren't finished yet... I'm currently stuck on ep. 20 waiting to watch the remaining episodes 😯

Watched three episodes now and this is quite nice. After the first episode with the strange attempt at comedy and those ridiculous orb-shaped creatures I feared for the worst.
I find the pacing ok, some things that come much later in the novel are already addressed now, but it doesn't seem too much out of place. There is still a lot of story to cover so it may be a good thing to speed up the storytelling in the early episodes and have more time for the more complex events that will come later.
Also, hoping for a non-rushed ending...

Heart blood is one of the mystical concepts in xianxia as blood directly taken from the heart of a living person is supposed to have special properties (don't try this at home... 😂).
It was the same concept in TMOPB when Bai Qian used her heart's blood to keep Mo Yuan's body from decaying and in the end she nearly died because of this.

The folks over at TTEOTM were quite good as well... A few antis in the beginning but they got quickly crowded out be the sheer volume of comments by genuine viewers.
And people were very disciplined about using the spoiler tag, too.

I just watched one episode (10 min) raw. It looked like pretty standard fare with the first encounter between the FL and the ML being him catching her to prevent a fall with the usual staring in each other's eyes, romantic music, slow motion, etc. By now this is such a cheesy old cliché, it made me laugh.
Personally I find the ML rather unattractive, so the story + acting had better make up for the missing eye-candy 😂😂😂😂

Have you seen the uncomfortable head-rests in most xianxia's or historicals???
Whenever they lie down it's not for sleeping, just resting immobile in a strange posture.

You know the rule: every xianxia needs a female psycho to bring out the murderous intent in the viewers. From the first episode to the last, no hero/heroine can match the stamina of these psychos 😂😂😂

She has his heart scale which in dragon-lore is the one most precious one of the dragon scales. When SuYing attacked him and dismembered his body he threw away the heart scale and it landed in Yan Hui.
And yes, as you correctly guessed, for him to gain his full dragon power (and stabilise it in his human form) he will need his heart scale... This is the central part of the angsty suspense in this drama: if he loves her, he will not take it - if she loves him, she will give it up...

I did not really like the patchwork of elements that they used for episode 20 because it doesn't really make any sense.
Ling Mingding is supposed to be a seasoned psychotherapist. So for him to be affected that deeply by the the death of one of his patients seems a bit far-fetched. He did not do anything wrong in the treatment and he knows it! Even if he had made a mistake, it's purely professional, not personal, so it should not affect him on this level.

Most of the dialogue during the industry conference sequence was taken directly from the novel, but since it appears to be simply an accusation raised by three people it looks a bit strange that Ling Mingding appears unable to defend himself. He already knows that hallucinogenic drugs were involved, so why would this suicide be his mistake?

The incident at the industry conference as described in the novel (vol.1, chapter 4) is much more touching and makes a lot more sense because the death of the patient (his wife) was personal and he felt guilty about this already because he knew that he had made a mistake. The mistake wasn't made during her treatment, but in a seemingly casual situation between the couple which resulted in the destruction of her "heart-bridge" and her subsequent suicide. This is the kind of trauma that would be much more believable for destabilising even an experienced therapist and since he feels guilty, he will indeed be unable to defend himself.

I had the impression from some earlier comments that people were quite disappointed with it because it wasn't what they had expected.

Maybe it didn't attract as much attention as they were hoping for and now they want to quickly get it over with so that they can push out something else...
I absolutely love this drama and especially the way it was filmed, but it seems to somehow fall in between all the popular categories (not really a BL, not really a suspense thriller, etc.)
I regard this more as an art-film where the mood and the visuals are more important than the story, but that may not be everyone's cup of tea.

Argh! Not for me then... 🥲 Hopefully it will appear sooner or later on one of the subbed websites.

This movie played an important role in the 2nd volume of the novel series. I haven't read that one yet, but most of the cases that we see in the beginning of the drama (the model, the rich dandy, the restaurant owner) are all taken from that 2nd volume.

Personally, I don't care much about spoilers, but I know that some people are very sensitive about this because it will ruin the experience for them.
It's such an insignificant "effort" to keep everyone happy, so why not do it?
