Trulyyyy, I am currently watching TSL too. OSTs are definitely better in Chongzi, my favorites are "Life and Death…
Yes, CZ character in the first arc is definitely childish (and not much better in the 2nd...), but the visuals of TJOCZ aren't all pink and sparkly like a Disney production aimed at children.

Try watching Warm on a Cold Night. It's a lot more fun!! The ML is also a bit gruff and cold in the beginning but at least he isn't boring and overall the drama feels a lot less childish than TSL.
Warm On A Cold Night seems to be a crime mystery drama set in ancient times with yokai cases. chinese title seems…
Describing the ML as a werewolf is not quite correct. In werewolves the transformation is usually triggered involuntary (either by the full moon and/or strong emotions) and often means a loss of control over their actions, whereas this Qi race is able to control their transformation at will. In the drama they are described as shapeshifters, which seems more accurate to me and also avoids any association with the werewolf-genre as depicted in some Western dramas.
Some extra comments: Despite being (Qi) 60 yrs old, in the recent eps, it really does feel like Han Zheng is just…
Despite the genre the way people (especially group dynamics) are shown is quite realistic. They managed to avoid a lot of the usual clichรฉs both regarding the tsundere ML and the prejudice that people have towards anyone not like them. I think this is part of what makes this drama so refreshingly different.

I don't like the CGI in TSL at all. The quality may be better but the colour palette and all that sparkle just scream "I'm a 15-year-old-who-still-plays-with-dolls".
I mean he is supposed to be "boring" because he cast all his emotions aside, but what makes him different is his…
I didn't say that the CGI is bad, but that it is kitsch. The colours (mainly pink and turquoise) and the sparkles make it look like the decoration on a 15-year-old's fantasy poney. Maybe that was the target audience? I get it that there is supposed some development to his character, but just looking at that boring face of his gives me the urge to fast-forward all his scenes.
Started watching this because everyone seems to be raving about this drama... Well, after 4 episodes I can say that it is rather silly for a xianxia, not really funny enough for a comedy and the CGI is looking at kitsch in the rearview mirror. The story is quite interesting, but the ML must be one of the most boring ones I've seen in recent years, just looking at him makes me sleepy.
It seems this show has better music than The Starry Love.
Not only that, it also has the better ML... he may be a bit stony-faced in the early episodes, but at least he is interesting! I had a look at The Starry Love because everyone keeps raving about it and OMG that ML is so BORING!
Itโs too bad. Iโm watching another drama rated 8.6 and Iโm enjoying this one more.
The rating on MDL isn't very reliable... plus how much you like something also depends on personal taste. I have really enjoyed quite a few dramas with a rating below 8 and there is a good number of dramas with a rating of 8+ that I've dropped because either the acting or the writing was so bad that I couldn't finish them.
Why are the scoring in here dropped to 7.7 now..... That's just insane... Imo
Sadly, not enough pretty-boy fan-girls around who vote up any ol' sh*t no matter how bad it is. Just compare this to (for example) Legend of Yun Xi, which had equally bad writing, massive plot-holes, an annoying, obsessive SFL and a card-board-like ML yet still managed to score a rating of 8.1. or the equally overrated Blooms at Ruyi Pavillion where the whole story relied on the idiotic premise that nobody could recognise the SML when he was wearing a half-mask (without changing his hair, clothing or voice)!
Also, I presume, the people who actually stick with this drama will only give their rating once they finished all the episodes, so the score may go up a bit again (I hope!).
hello BftBers....i've joined because i am sooooooo looking forward to this adaptation. Having seen Who Rules the…
She annoyed the hell out of me in WoH!! I understand that this is the way the character (playful and immature) was supposed to be in WoH. Based on the novel the FL in BFTB is very different, she is headstrong and wilful but she isn't stupid or immature. I hope that for once the script writers were able to resist the urge to turn every FL into a moronic dumbwit who keeps falling over her own feet.
There is romance, but it is in between the lines. It doesn't use the usual tropes of lingering glances or FL tripping over her own feet to be caught by ML.
Can we talk about how incredibly cute they were in the shared dream? Not me rewinding and watching her play with…
Overall the writers have been very creative in this drama. They managedto avoid many of the usual tropes and instead came up with lots of cute ideas to show us the romantic connection of the couple.
Chinese's censorship really sucks. I've seen so many dramas lately with so many cuts and editing that degraded…
Quite honestly, I don't think the sloppy editing and the massive plot-holes can all be blamed on censorship. A lot of it is due to the screenwriters changing some bits of the original material without thinking things through.
The ML became soo annoying when he lost his memories but i'm enjoing it till now
Really? I thought he was hilarious! Every time he says "Princess" with that stiff face I'm already on the floor laughing. He really did a parody of his film character there, but it may have been a bit too subtle for some viewers...
I am rewatching and consoling myself because want to see Jeremy badly because in his ongoing drama TJOCZ the Fl…
I'm doing the same ๐๐๐ I need consolation "food". It's painful to see this wonderful actor in such a badly written drama (TJOCZ). Maybe he should insist on only pairing with grown-up actresses in the future.
Must admit I have had a bit of a crission lately, not being able to bump into much drama I really liked. On contrary,…
I feel with you... there have been quite a few dramas recently that I had been looking forward to for a long time, only to be sadly disappointed. This one I discovered purely by accident and I'm enjoying it so much! I get a feeling that a lot of the high-profile dramas have been messed up by poor script-writing, incoherent editing, excessive cuts and idol-boy acting. Maybe because the producers think that they will draw in the crowds anyway. On the other hand, some low-profile dramas like this one or My Uncanny Destiny manage to bring in some fresh ideas with decent writing/editing.
I think this is part of what makes this drama so refreshingly different.
