i can wait for tteotm as long as it presented with its best outcome to the audience. it's a xianxia. cgi vfx takes…
Agree. I just had a look at the trailer for "The Journey of Chong Zi", another xianxia that I was waiting for, and the GCI it is truly gruesome... π± It's so sad when everyone's hard work is ruined by that one last step of the production.
How bad is this? That quack Avenue X won't even be bothered to mention this drama in her videos.
Well, she did an extra episode just on this drama... Comments were very positive on the production and the fact that none of the actors were dubbed. She did, however, complain about terrible line delivery from both MLs (especially SWL) and wooden acting from SWL. Also, due to the many cuts of the more BL-type scenes between the two main leads and the lack of any other couples, or engaging cases, she found it rather boring. That's apparently the reason why she forgot to mention it in an earlier video.
I don't necessarily agree with all her points, just summarising the assessment here so the more sensitive souls don't need to watch the video. Therefore, please don't address your complaints to me.
Not sure about the drama as script-writers sometimes take a lot of liberties, but the novel has a happy ending.
Not in the book. She has courage and she can fight! She even got into trouble in her sect for being a bit too badass π But with script-writers nowadays there's always a risk that they'll turn her into a moron who keeps falling over her own feet...
I don't think that every with 40+ episodes is necessarily draggy. Some stories actually need a few more episodes…
Yes, I agree with that. The Rise of Phoenixes was the first C-drama I ever watched. Whether it was slow-going or atmospheric is a question of interpretation. At least it wasn't filled with the usual filler-tropes.
Chinese courtesy names or style names are given on adulthood (usually age 20) and is typically how peers address…
I'm amazed and impressed by how much care is taken in naming a child in this culture. It is such a contrast to over here in Europe where children's names usually say more about the trends the parents were following instead of actually fitting the child. Just think of all the poor children that were named Danaerys before GoT was even over.
Nicely paced and there's attention to detail. I hope this is a lesson for C-ent to invest in short, more compact,…
I don't think that every with 40+ episodes is necessarily draggy. Some stories actually need a few more episodes to tell a decent story. Just think of The Rise of Phoenixes. The problem is that even stories that could be told in 20 episodes are drawn out with the usual fillers. A bit of common sense instead of dogmatic rules would help everyone π
Started this as a light-hearted "filler" while waiting for new episodes on the other dramas that I'm following. On ep. 6 now and so far it's quite entertaining. The ML role must be the one with the fewest lines in any drama I've ever watched... it almost feels like a non-speaking role. All he has to do is stand on the side and look pretty π
Your comment says a lot about how women are portrayed in xianxia/wuxia/historical C-dramas. Not a normal woman…
Yes, there are a few dramas where the FL is sort of ok (i.e. The Rise of Phoenixes, Legend of the Phoenix, My Sassy Princess, A Girl Like Me...) but still far too few. Even when the original novel calls for a gutsy female who can stand her ground the script-writers turn her into a squeaky-voiced moron who permanently needs rescuing.
I'm curious to see how they will mangle Legend of Shen Li. She is such a wonderful badass heroine in the novel!
