I heard that Xie Queshan got stabbed today… does anyone have details?
I see now what was meant, it must be the part where Xie Queshan is injured and recuperating in Xiahou Jun’s residence. So it seems that this is what they filmed today…

I don’t think there is much to worry about with this drama. So far everything that I have seen, from the costumes,…
Yeah, some tropes are hilarious, like the ceremonial falling off the cliff. It feels like an initiation ritual for costume actors 🤣 Last year was a very bad year for C-dramas and I have dropped stuff like never before. I’m currently watching The Pursuit of Jade which so far is relatively trope-free and the cinematography is beautiful. Passing the time until a Jeremy drama gets aired…

While I agree that censorship is hindering certain storylines, I think it is too often used as an excuse for sloppy writing. When they fill a drama with tropes and dumb down the plot it can hardly be blamed on censorship.

Well, repeating the same tropes that worked in another drama is the no. problem with scriptwriting for Chinese dramas. It’s like:”Oh, they love rebirth, let’s give them two dozen more dramas about that.” Or, “that Lantern Festival scene at the night market was so romantic, let’s include it in EVERY costume drama from now on.” I absolutely hate it when they take novels that have close to no such stereotypes/tropes and then try to put in as many as possible in the drama version. It’s as if there is a competition between screenwriters. So, in that sense, it may not be a bad idea to have a newbie, with hopefully fresh ideas, work on this script.
That’s a serious decline in the level of acting skills for this highly renowned IP.
