Yes, the writing is very important. If you’ve seen some of my posts on other dramas, you will know that I constantly rant about the screenwriters ruining top source material and taking the audience for idiots. Many of the issues with scripts arise because there is no finalized script before filming starts, but this doesn’t seem to be the case with this one. Based on what I have heard, Tan Jianci rejected the initial script and only signed up once he was satisfied with the modifications. I think we can trust his judgment. BTW, ending of LLTG is a prime example of a rushed, unsatisfying ending (while the early episodes were dragged and repetitive). Not really a reference for good writing in my books. The success of the drama is owed manly to the actors.

It is inevitable that there will be changes in a novel adaptation because what works on paper doesn’t necessarily work on screen. In novels we learn about the thoughts and feelings of one or several (depending on the narrative style) characters. In a drama, making characters “think aloud” cannot be used to the same extend. The director has to find ways to let the audience see these things. Some scenes are fine on paper but would be very boring to watch because they are too static.
It’s in chapter 26 (the first time that his character appears): “A tall and well-built man got out of the carriage. He was wearing a Qiren winter coat. He was Wanyan Jun, the brother of the Qiren Prime Minister, Han Xianwang.” I also don’t think that any of his actions were motivated by lust, but rather by wounded pride and a will to dominate/humiliate those who once looked down on him.
Haha, you will need to revise that image. I think he was described as tall and handsome in the novel and based on the storyline he shouldn’t be much older than the princess.
Is the number of ep being 32 is confirmed? I just saw a post in x saying that there is scripts for ep 33 and 34…
Many dramas file for 40 episodes to have some flexibility even if they are only planning on having 30 (which sometimes leads to rumours about “cut episodes”). I don’t know how many they filed for for this drama. Anyways, the final number of episodes will only be determined in post production and then they still have to get through the review.
