Yes, more natural features would be a welcome change from the currently fashionable “white-face”. It’s one of the reasons why some of the older dramas feel so much more “lifelike” and engaging.
I really don’t care if there are lines or blemishes on an actor’s face, for as long as they are able to use said face for acting. They are supposed to be actors, not models. It’s a point that many C-netizens don’t seem to get, hence the excessive use of filters.

Yes, I think there will be different trailers released in the run-up to the broadcast that look at the story from different angles.

Jeremy IS one of the three leads in this drama and if you are familiar with the story you will know that Pei Yan is a very important character in it.
Moreover, this is Jeremy’s last drama, so I don’t think it is any disrespect to the production team (or anyone else) if Jeremy fans are anxious to see more than a 3 second shot of him.

I cannot say that I’m happy with this trailer.
Despite being one of the leads, Jeremy’s part is reduced to one line! What is the production company playing at?

I don’t think there is one. The person who started it on NovelUpdates gave up quickly.
I have done a the first five chapters and may do a few more passages relevant to Pei Yan to share with friends, but I’m not planning to do the whole long novel nor to make the translation public.
With AR’s army of fans, I find it hard to believe there isn’t one Chinese speaker to undertake this…

Admittedly, I was quite tired, but their “sweet moments” in ep. 3 and ep. 4 were sending me straight to sleep. Picking up in the middle of ep. 4 again, hoping the pace will improve.

I agree. I have always defended him because you can be thin and wiry with as much strength as one of those bulky people, but I really don’t like how tired and worn out he looks in this.
I know he is ambitious and a hard worker, but right now less work and more food/rest may be urgently required if he wants to preserve his health and keep giving us more dramas to watch in the long term.

If you ignore the precedent versions then this one is no worse than any of the recent dramas that all score 8+ ratings despite frequently abysmal acting. On the contrary, I quite appreciate the fact that this one has many roles for middle-aged actors which improves the overall acting level.
It does not seem fair to punish a drama (and all the people associated with it) because it isn’t the first time we see the same story.

Some actors need a strong acting partner to give a good performance.

What are they playing at? It feels rather unfair to just drop this with zero promotion and then expect LYX fans to do all the legwork.

I watched two episodes so far. It’s ok.
Unlike the trailer, the humour turned out fine, the acting is ok, so far I would consider it entertaining,. The writing feels like we need to switch off any logic and knowledge of the laws of nature.
And you’re right, the 8.7 rating is probably due to LYX fans giving their boy a boost.
Who knows, it might pick up as the story moves along.

Yeah, the stupidity of the writing reminds me of “And the Winner is Love” and not in a good way. Hopefully there won’t be a horse to bury this time.
I know this is supposed to be phantasy, but it also requires solid suspension of disbelief regarding the laws of nature. The underwater scene was already mentioned and life plants going up in flames within seconds from a single torch is another annoying oddity.

Legend of Heroes or if you like something a bit more intellectual, try Heroes (2024). The latter isn’t really a wuxia, but it has some brilliant fight scenes.

Yep, not enough idols is a mortal sin for any drama here on MDL.
Other than the odd cinematography there is nothing much to moan about in the first two episodes.

I don’t understand why it is so low. Normally dramas start high and then gradually drop.
Does he ML look too manly for some of the teeny viewers?
