it will be good for him to take a break from costume dramas & try some genres to show his acting range... some…
That’s why I’m not into them too… the balance between romance and plot is so weak with modern drama. They rely heavily on the actors chemistry to make them last and Idgaf because the writing is so weak. I haven’t seen any of the ones you mentioned but I’ve seen Filter. The ridiculous plot really saved that show from being boring and kept me curious enough to finish it.

Are they kidding me? Costume genres done him nothing but a disservice. He been getting the ugly allegation because of them. And unfortunately, the hair has been too pulled back and the first impression made them overlook his acting.
I’m not into modern shows so I hope for him to act in more costume (of course for next year) so this is a bummer for me but I’ll give modern shows more of a chance for him. He needs to shut people for sure.
Liu Yuning is roll. He knows how to pick his scripts. I usually hate modern dramas but I heard we won’t be seeing him in costume drama for 2 years so I might just give modern drama a chance just for him alone.
Hmm not sure if I’m going to watch this one. At some point, I was going to give it a watch because of Ao Rui Peng. In Moonlight Mystique, his performance was nothing exceptional, I didn’t care for him but when I saw Love Never Fails, his acting was pretty good and I was a little bit impressed even though I dropped the show. He had a lot of potential so I was going to give this a try. The summary though… it’s giving nothing 😭 it sounds like something I don’t like so I’m wondering if I should skip this or if there is somehow more to this plot than what the summary is giving.
What a satisfying ending. It’s been a while since I watched a show and didn’t think its ending was whatever or straight trash.
Song Yitang wishing men can get pregnant, I bursted out laughing. She have always been ahead of her time since the beginning of the show.
And the fact we have all the character suddenly speaking in modern lingo was such a great touch. We know our girl Xiao Yu taught everyone this. Shangguan He is in a hurry to birth the “next female lead”, the moms divorcing, Mr. Song saying they need to chase the wives because of the “they need to hold onto them before it’s too late” trope. Like, everyone speaking funny and it works so well with this show.
What a sad rule. The male lead need to always save the female lead… so in every alternate scenario, he has to die before her and Xiao Yu had to witness everyone dying before she kill herself too. It’s curse for my girl!! She has to go through all the brutal endings to give everyone the happy ending.
Happy ending I said.. happy ending my ass. Shangguan He, DEAD. Nan Heng? DEAD. Song Xiao Yu/Yimeng, DEAD. Emperor and 18th Prince? About to be DEAD. So the only happy ending I should expect is in the modern day.
Everything happened so fast, I didn't even process anyone's death, just disbelief. It was a grand finale for the script. You know what? I loved the scene were Xiao Yu took a sword and fought like Nan Heng .Wish it was longer.
I have to say, they drew a strange parallel between Xiao Yu and the script writer. Just like Xiao Yu, he just saw them as fictional characters, like she did. It took her 30 episode to reach that point of acceptance. The script writer doesn't care about half of these people so for him, they just characters. I don't get why she followed him (I know she did it to save the song family and Nan Heng) while acknowledging these fictional characters will take their own fate... Because in the end, we see it that these characters made the choice to die for their own fate while she finally realized it at that end that it doesn't matter what she does, she should also take matter on her own hands instead of relying on the script.
Omg, what in the hell happened? I was gonna say CGH officially like a villain but nobody is surprised. He has been delusional for at least 15 episode right now.
I haven’t spoke about the bodyguard at all since I’ve started this drama but I had my ending thoughts prepared for ep 40. I was going to say, I’m going to miss Jixiang , our cute bodyguard who always lowkey judging 18th prince every scene, probably rolled his eyes a few times from his antics but would never allow anyone to disrespect 18th in political scenarios but now he is just DEAD?????? I held my head. I should have expected costume dramas need to kill every guard/servant in the show. I should have never forgotten this rule.
On top of that, they succeeded in breaking Nan Rui as well????!!!! Oh my god. He was so adorable and sweet when he was trying to peel tangerine for his dad…. Awww,. What have they done? The positive, he called Heng his brother for the FIRST TIME! I was listening to him say “gege” because at that moment, he is the only one who defended and trusted him.
Nan Heng knows his situation better than anyone. He had to rely on himself but this time, he would help his brother and basically, forced him to STAND UP and take responsibility. 18th kept saying he was dumb but this situation, he needs to lead and help. He can no longer be naive. The brotherhood scene was so well done.
Changing the iconic scene comes with a price???? What is this foreboding feeling? I'm sure it will be like a Happy Ending so I'm worried but like... In a way, it makes sense. I think the reason why he is pushing so hard for Shangguan to marry Yitang is so he can change the iconic scene and cause a big price in the story because originally, she is supposed to marry Nan Heng. So the script writer is basically having Nan Heng face the backlash through this change
probably in 1-2 episodes time from then. not a long wait.
Thank you. This amnesia plotline really making it hard for me to go through the episodes. It feels like a quality drop from the beginning so I wanted to know when it will be over so I can finally push through.
