There is a disconnect with her character. She is not a bad character but after 30 episodes, it’s harder to connect with her again. So even if she loves him and shower him with love, I’m not emotional to any of the scenes.

There is a very huge disparity in her writing and everyone else. I think it shows when you compare her to the side characters. Even though Nan Heng wasn't honest with the Nightwalkers, they took torture, they almost sacrificed themselves and they believed in him and trusted him. Then you get female lead were her sacrifice looks small in comparison. I know it's not a competition but for a female lead like her, she needs to be competing on a much higher level than this. She stood outside for a day or so and wrote a couple pages of his actions.. then she gets mad that he never told her and it's like the only scene that supposedly redeeming a quality of hers.

It's not the first time the show does this weird writing with her. Male lead took whips after whips for her and for her dad. He had to stay on his knees multiple times. While the things she does is minimised or she is just complaining about. That's why I feel like the show is propping her as an accessory for the male lead when she could be more than that. She could have been deeper than this.

What you said is so true. Usually cousins suck up to the princes to get favours. I blame the emperor. He also favoured him because he wanted his family power to back up the Eighteen Prince and he knew that military wise, he was almost an equal to Nan Heng except he got military command on silver platter because of his dad AND was a shitty leader who didn't know how to navigate an issue which is why he ended up pleading for Nan Heng then getting mad that he didn't rescue them.
