I recently started watching alchemy of the soul and the ML is pretty hot blooded and impulsive and indecisive…
I haven't seen this drama yet but I'll tell you exactly what the problem is. The male leads that are mentioned in this thread do not face real consequences that badly reflects on anyone else except the male lead himself. For AoS, I don't mind it. For Big Mouse, that's the biggest issue I had with the show. Male lead suddenly makes sure everything sails smooth. None of the risks he takes every takes a bad turn. It's why dramas with male leads that make bad decisions get some burn too. Of course, female leads get way more hate as usual. I blame it on writer for create the imbalance.
It was blackface though, the actual actor looks nothing like that including his skin tone, and even aside from…
Finally someone said. I just watched this today and hearing people call this blackface... y'all brainwashed by social media or something? He wasn't even dark! Everyone lying hardcore. It doesn't even pass as a tan. I can't believe people believe they are correct on this matter. Herd mentality is crazy in here
Am I mean for saying Gong Ji Hoon should be Big Mouse because he is built like one? Lmao like I love this actor but this drama made me realize he looks like a mouse. I'll walk myself out for this one.
I did not see a problem with it per se. Songrim is not a military academy, Most academies in fantasy settings…
True but most of the show, they could tackle it to reinforce it's world building otherwise what's the point of making only the villains the threat? With such power, more people are likely to be corrupt. Even the Jin family were collecting items so deep it had it's own place and needed more than 2 hours to explore. We could have missions or come across people who uses these items for evil or even for personal reasons. (Which might create funny, entertaining or serious cases) The reason why this have many love lines because the writers wants to fill space. They had many opportunities to create a subplot but they didn't. It's definitely a flaw when you realize how much it could have strengthened this story.
I wanted to write a review after I confirmed my observation was correct, however, I sill haven't watched episode 14-20 yet. I liked your review because it's pretty spot on what I've seen so far.
This show lacks proper world building as well. It feels like Songrim, the academy, purpose is pointless? All these students spending 20+ years learning for what exactly? The series have no threat outside of the main villains and they, (villains), are trying to keep a low profile most of the show so what exactly is the purpose of having all these alchemist? That's what I wanted to confirm. If the show will give these characters missions and threats outside that give these student a purpose on why they are learning. Please let me know if they do, otherwise, you might want to add this in your review LMAO
I'm here just to give a headups up. Associating comments about being a bad actress to being a woman is also misogynistic as well. Saying things like, "You hate successful women" isn't the compliment you think it is because people who dislike their acting them are associating it to their performance while y'all associating it to their gender. You are free to defend them, however I am letting you know the message isn't coming across the way you think it is.
I watched about 6 episodes of this Kdrama and even though I havent watched the rest, I can absolutely assure you,…
I saw a clip online where the girl feels some type of way over the guys arm lmao so I instantly liked it from that clip alone and was waiting for binge it as well. I doubt it will end in a cliffhanger that I care about. It just gives off the vibe of it doesn't need a second season. Most dramas set in modern setting don't need it.
I was going to start this once it finished airing but now I hear there is season 2? I'm not a fan of this new trend. It feels like k-drama are now going to "intentionally" make some stories unfinished so they can make another season when they had many opportunities to conclude it in one season.
Your comment is contradictory. You're not reading a manga. You need to understand this is a different media, you…
Doesn't seem to be a "me problem" when others have expressed the same dislike. Like I said, they could expand on him beyond the romance. And I don't think it's awful to point out that I want more of his other qualities expanded on rather than this.
The only other Hong sisters drama I've watched is "Hotel del Luna" and I absolutely loved it.
I have seen Hotel de Luna, A Korean odyssey, Master Sun, Big, You're Beautiful. 3 of the dramas I seen were 9 years ago+ so it's hard to compare but this is better than Hotel De Luna and Korean Odyssey.

I meant to say this season(not including season 2) is like 25 episode because each episode is over an hour long which gives it 5 more hours than the average drama. It not about taking the romance away completely. It will not be enjoyable if all of the romance is nonexistent. And no, it's about Yul being a perfect character. Way to overlook such a massive oversight. It's about reducing his whole character as if he have no other qualities the writers could expand on.
I gotta say the two sisters outdid themselves with this drama. I have not liked a single drama they written until this one. This is pretty good even though I'm not a fan of how they pushed aside some of the plot progression for romance. However, the writing quailty is better than 80% of the dramas that aired this year. I said what I said.
This is a fun drama, but it's so slowwwwwwwww, by God. We're 70% done and Naksu hasn't regained her power yet,…
This made me laugh. I feel like if the love triangle between the main characters didn't exist, all the other side romance would be appreciated and the plot would progress really well.

If you read their comment carefully, you would realize it's not about telling the story using ONLY crucial points. It's more than that. This series is technically 25 episode so 25 hours where the show isn't progressing in a good pace because of the dragged love triangle they keep writing that takes the progression from other potential plotlines. I like a detour to build some of these characters but the whole UK, Naksu, Yul is getting stale, boring, uninteresting and pathetic because Yul knows she doesn't love him. Building his whole character on a one side romance ruins his character for me who LIKED him at the start.
Hope they better stop this dragged love triangle. The stills look like they're still going on and even worse...A…
I'm in the middle of ep 8 and yea, Yul, Uk and Mudoek love triangle should end asap so it won't turn more stale. If they want more romance, Naksu soul shift to a body (I'm guess that's what part 2 is for) and Bu Yeon gets her body back. Then new plotline and romance for these girls.
