Ep 12 big spoiler so if you haven't finished this episode, don't read.
Worst ending. The way Jun Seo is consistently making some of the worst decisions while keeping his name in good grace. He was her accomplice for the longest time yet exempted himself from real accountability. Not only did he let the main perparator escape consequence of killing his friend. Dohyeok was a bigger threat than Ahjin. He have resources, he controls media, he manipulate the public to his benefit, he have money, network, media, ALL OF IT. Instead of bringing him down, he told him to stay out of it and chose to be his accomplice (HE HAVE MANY VICTIMS???? REAL VICTIMS WHICH AMONG WAS YOUR FRIEND???)
And instead chose to bring Ahjin down, who had nothing. The level of idiocy almost had me crashing out. Like at least take him down too???? Put his ass in documentary too? My problem is that he was telling her to "stay put and not interfere." He is drugging her and purposely triggering her to commit more violence out of the affects of drugs. No, she CAN'T FUCKING STAY PUT!
Now let's talk about his stupid ass "documentary" that he FABRICATED.
He brought in the bully as a witness (LMAO?????) who stabbed Ahjin, to let us know that Ahjin is the true evil mastermind here.
Ahjin = evil Sunghee = sweet innocent victim. Did you see the halo on her head when she bullied Ahjin, used connection, wanting to spread rumors that she was sleeping a teacher, used her family position to gain advantage and beat down on an orphan for winning 1st place and STABBED HER for MONEY? Truly an angel here.
Ahjin = evil Her dad = victim
Sad that he was gone after he killed her mom (that he knew was abusing his daughter) then proceeded to suggest to new wife that he wants to sell his 6-10 year old daughter sexual content and child porngraphy. His wife then proceeded to use her the power imbalance to drown/abuse her and later on, gave her dad her location to abuse her, he was in talks about how he wants to sell her off to human trafficking and sell her body to prostitution because she is a pretty teenagr, beating her up until she was unconscious for 3 DAYS and coercing her for money that she can't make. But oh poor him, a true victim from the monster called Ahjin.
Ahjin = evil Ingang = her victim
The grandma is allergic is cats and died by accident. Ingang is severely depressed and couldn't handle the heavy emotions he was feeling so he took his own life. He was victim but she didn't kill him. It was just a shitty breakup. Sunjeo was begging her to break up just for him to blame her for doing that. Same with that entertainment leader who wanted to ruin her life even though she wanted her to leave Ingang. So for the brother to be a witness about how she didn't visit Ingang funeral... Like...
Ahjin = evil Boss = victim
He chose to forgave her so he made the CHOICE to forgive and is cheering her own.
All of these Junseo was an accomplice. He didn't even mention how big of a role he played in all of it. Just for him to attempt a double suicide (without her consent) the jooookeeees. So glad she survived and climbed her way out of that car to the top.
Ahjin biggest sin is not allowing her father to kill her because at least then, the viewers would have sympathised with her than view her as a evil monster.
What part makes her a monster? Is it the part where she wanted her abusive, child trafficking dad to die? Because…
Someone being diagnosed with sociopath or psychopath doesn't mean they will be a monster. Making this assumption that they are the same is simply ignorant.
What part makes her a monster? Is it the part where she wanted her abusive, child trafficking dad to die? Because…
You are making the wrong type of comparisons here. The boss was willing to beat the stalker when he attacked her. So he was okay with attacking him and delivering a fatal blow when it's a stalker who was going to kill him but apparently, the attack being the father changes? They both attacked her and he was making that choice out of self righteous. The decision to strike was still his. The only thing that changed was the attack was someone else. It's doesn't the fact the ATTACKhappened and it was done of out righteous to save someone! If I went by your logic that you applied here, it's saving someone from drowning. Does knowing WHO you saved change the fact you wanted to save them??
"She’s a victim who became a monster to survive" fits more than sociopath that writers claim. Or Sociopath…
What part makes her a monster? Is it the part where she wanted her abusive, child trafficking dad to die? Because it can't be the so called "manipulation". She just simply asked for help and they ran. These men made those decisions, these men had a CHOICE. Y'all hated it that the choice benefitted her during her time of suffering.
Ooh this shitty ending... I already liked Junseo the least but he is truly the worst character in the show now. The last few minutes of the ending... Deserveddddd. I'm going to make a longer post on why I hate him.
Now for the Choi Jeong Ho, I would say he is the only one who is actually a victim. Although I didn't like the…
I already said he is the only one I see as a victim here. She didn't manipulate everything, she did have a stalker, would it have changed if we replaced the father with the stalker instead? Would it change the way you see the outcome?
You guys are right. The dramas airing now are pretty enjoyable. The entire year, it was just slow and the dramas are whatever. I've been watching cdramas the most almost all year long yet I saw everyone saying the ones airing now are pretty good so I gave Spirit Finger a try. It was a very cute, youth, kinda cringe but also really good romance - slice of life drama the more it progressed.
Now I see Dear X and it's something different than usual. I'm going to watch The Manipulated and then Dynamite Kiss because people are talking about these two as well. I'll also give Moon River a try and, of course, Taxi Driver (I've seen the first season, might as well catch up since I already like it)
Honestly, there's too much left to wrap up in two episodes. The CEO's arrival serves no purpose, in my opinion.…
Agree. Feel like the CEO didn't get to play a pivotal role yet they introduced him super late. I feel like the ending will be messy and rushed because I'm used to Kdrama not having proper endings.
Funny how some people are saying that Ah Jin is pure evil when her father and Jun Seo’s mother literally exist.…
Watching the fandom treat her like the worst person while NOT saying about the actual abusive and evil people in the same show...
But I'm not surprised. I've been in many fandom where fans struggle to sympathise with female characters for saying something insensitive ONCE. You will suddenly see them among a list of pedophiles, murderers, nazi, child abusers. I think the fact they are not attracted to women makes it easier to judge FLs. While with men, they overlook their crimes by analyzing "why" they are like that and doing mental labor to fill in the gaps. I'm not against this because I enjoy villainous characters regardless of gender but I can't stand it when it's more obvious that's it's misogyny.
Pretentious and edgy in the worst way. It’s the kind of show that appeals to immature audiences and to women…
We got the elitist here. Are only specific types of shows allowed to exist and everything else shouldn't? There are variety of genres existing so it appeals to different audiences. You don't like these edgy shows? Let me tell you a shocking discovery that there are more than a 100,000 shows that came out the last three decades that are NOT edgy. You are welcome to go watch them.
Finally caught up to the latest episodes and boy is he foul for purposely triggering her memory of her father's death. He had that clock not work right at the estimated time of death when she killed him. I heard he is crazy and I'm invested to see how crazier he can get. I hope she beats him at his own game and if it doesn't happen, I'll welcome her downfall too. Both conclusions are entertaining.
Now for the Choi Jeong Ho, I would say he is the only one who is actually a victim. Although I didn't like the…
I give you my round of applause. Like yes, exactly! She doesn't have the luxury to care about others because she wants to be free without being a criminal! So her option was to make someone else the criminal. And if the boss came for revenge, I understand but he chose to forgive her and understand her.
Most of the people she is surrounded by always try to bring her down or sees her a bad person. Jun Seo is a good…
I really like you analysis, it's really well out together and hit the nail in the head. She is a danger for herself but she was also clear what she wanted; she wanted her father gone because she knew he will get away easy. She is an extremely bitter and vengeful person. But it also comes from the fact that she became an adult yet she still doesn't get the option to live a normal life. That's why she told him she doesn't want him to be the one to do it because she knows him well and she doesn't want to be the person to hurt him.
Exactly. They both kinda unhealthy to each other. In a way, it's a good fit but in another way, it's not because he wants to change her life while she wants something specific. Either way, I like the way you think.
It definitely needed more episodes to delve into the other characters, but the pro was that the misunderstandings…
I didn't mention it in my original post but the family dymanic actually broke me. I applauded Udol when he nailed it in the head by essentially saying the dad is a loser at work so he can only feel manly by asserting his authority at home. I loved this kid so bad and I was crying because none of the children can do much about it. I'm glad they all gained the courage to stop that stupid dad. I wanted an apology from him.
I really enjoyed the fact that both brothers, who are considered the prize of the family, were on standby, watching their sister gain courage to have a real conversation JUST to get destroyed by her mother and later, by the father while all they can do is watch disappointedly by what's happening because they too need to gain courage to do something about it (which they did at the end) It really shows that even though they don't interact with each other, they love each other. They are just stuck being victims of the family power dynamics.
I really enjoyed the dynamic of the overconfident male lead who never doubted himself while the female lead overthinks and gets swallowed by inferiority complexity. Even though the male lead annoyed me at first, I genuinely started to love him by the midway point and envied him. It's was a really enjoyable show. Unfortunately, I wasn't digging the side couples. Some of them didn't have a good resolution.
Most of the people she is surrounded by always try to bring her down or sees her a bad person. Jun Seo is a good…
How are you using the actress interpretation while ALSO acknowledging that the actress is having a hard time actually expressing the character feelings? The viewers mistake here is relying on the visual aspect. I'm not looking at the facial expressions here. I'm looking at the way the writing was set up. You need to read the dialogue and know why it's being said and what's the current context. And also, I don't need to read the interviews nor will I do because I can already tell the actress is struggling to even understand how to show what the character is feeling (because victims of abuse and trauma responses is hard to interpret because most people here never had a mother or father like that!) She is doing her best though.
I'm going to applaud you for understanding Junseo. Because you understood his writing. I just find it interesting how you are unable to see why she gets annoyed with him. And why they are NOT a good fit together. Also he is not as innocent as everyone makes him out to be because he have the choice to simply just walk away. He chooses not too.

I was thinking I would be Grey Finger. Or if I went with a color I'm drawn to, maybe Bubblegum pink.
