Is it true that in the novel Chang Yu Qing is actually the first male lead but they changed him to second lead for the show?

Agreed. The friendships in this show are truly some of the best I've seen. Even the friendships the main leads had with the supporting characters like Xuan Ying and the elder who made medicine were good.

I'll definitely be rewatching this in the future too, I'll just be skipping the villain's parts lol.

ikr. I didn't expect to feel so sad for him because he didn't have much screen time but I felt the emotions. I cried so much when Shuo Xuan unlocked the gift he gave her and finished the puzzle with her portrait on it 😢😢😢

Shifang's birthday party with him eating the noodles with tears in his eyes and saying he won't change at all made me cry 😭

And also when he wouldn't give up during his fight with Shuo Xuan 😭😭

I'm glad they haven't cancelled this drama too. I'm excited to see HYX as the main FL since she's been mostly doing support roles the past few years.

Yess, they're always protective of each other. I loved that flashback when Yue Qi saved Jinzhao when he was trapped in the cave and also when Jinzhao saved Yue Qi from the falling rocks 🥹 I don't understand people who say they lack chemistry lol

Bian Luohan is such a sad character. He got replaced by someone who looks exactly like him but who is better at everything. I have a feeling he's going to die.... 😢

And also Maiming. Even though he's a "villain", I do feel bad for him getting trapped for hundreds of years, never being able to leave.

I agree with this so much. I didn't see much romantic chemistry with the main CP (Tianhe x Lingsha). Like, it would've made more sense if Lingsha ended up with Ziying and Tianhe ended up with Mengli...

Sword and Fairy 6 is better when it comes to the romance. At least here you can root for the main couple and it flows better. Yue Qi and Yue Jinzhao are cute together.

Ziying is awesome. I've never watched a drama with Mao Zi Jun before and this one made me a fangirl. I'm looking forward to his future dramas 💕

It's been 2 days since I finished the show and I'm missing the 4 already 😢 The friendships between the 4 as well as the supporting characters are amazing 💖💖💖

Yep, I'm really disappointed we didn't get to see Lingsha wield the Wangshu sword 🙁

Great review. It captures what I thought of the drama. What I didn't like was how they had to cut to Ziying or Mengli's face almost every time the main lead couple had a moment. Even more so with Ziying:

1. Tinahe saving Lingsha from the fall during the sword riding test and carrying her. It cuts to Ziying and Mengli wistfully looking at them.

2. Lingsha and Tianhe on the boat. It shows Lingsha smiling at Tianhe while the scene ends with Ziying looking at her.

3. Lingsha and Tianhe hugging? The scene ends with Ziying turning around and having this sad look on his face.

Lingsha has this special moment with Ziying where she gives him a sword tassel which she says symbolizes her and it means it will represent them being together forever. I don't see her having such a special moment like this with Tianhe.

4. Lingsha comforting a crying Tianhe and hugging him again. Ziying turns around and the scene ends with the camera focusing on Ziying's back....

5. Lingsha sitting on Tianhe's lap while she caresses his face. It cuts to Ziying stumbling upon them and then turning around.

6. Lingsha looking at the moon with Tianhe and Ziying. The scene ends with Ziying holding onto the sword tassel Lingsha gave him.

7. And the very last scene... It ends with Ziying holding the sword tassel while he looks on Tianhe and Lingsha.

Likeee, I couldn't fully enjoy the Lingsha and Tianhe romantic moments because I was feeling bad for Ziying instead. I wish the writers gave more bonding time to Tianhe and Lingsha as well. I felt the main lead couple didn't have enough substance because all the bonding time was given to Ziying.

Overall, I would give it a 8.5 because I did like the friendships, grey characters, and the visual fight scenes. It just loses 1.5 points from me because of the one-sided loves from the 2nd leads.

I never had second female lead syndrome before but I did with this show. It made me emotional when Mengli hugged Tianhe 😭

I agree with this one hundred percent. It's like most of the emotional moments are given to Ziying and Lingsha. This makes it hard for me to root for Tianhe and Lingsha as a couple because they barely get bonding time like Lingsha has with Ziying.

The way Ziying looks at Lingsha throughout the episodes and when he looked away when Tianhe and Lingsha hugged made me feel bad for him.

lol the colors are throwing me off too. The chibi characters that are kissing look like Mengli and Tianhe.

The one on the left is wearing purple which is usually Mengli's color while the chibi on the right is wearing green.

Though I'm sure it's supposed to represent Tianhe and Lingsha since they're the only ones who have mutual feelings.

I feel the same too. She feels more like a supporting character. IMO, Mengli and Ziying have more backstory than her.
