I just watched episode 35. I'm almost done with this flop, thank goodness.
Shang Yi Zhi has got to be the worst male lead I've ever seen. First, he says he's going to kill the empress if A Mai wants him to. Then, he says he's going to kill all the women in his harem if A Mai doesn't like them. And to top it off, he says he's going to kill Chang Yu Qing and Tang Shao Yi if A Mai has feelings for either of these men. He succeeded in killing one of them too.
Those flashbacks that were shown with A Mai and Tang Shao Yi were more meaningful and heartfelt than all the times she ever had with Shang Yi Zhi.
That clown of a male lead has such a disregard for human life. I hope someone overthrows him in the future. Too bad that ending scene with A Mai and her soldiers storming the palace and killing him was just a dream.

sad π With the way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if A Mai doesn't even meet up with Chang Yu Qing at the end considering the screenwriters already removed her love for him and gave her love to that buffoon Shang Yi Zhi. I'm viewing the novel as the canon story and the drama as a weird fanfiction.
We only have 6 Episodes left till the end and I have no idea what kind of ending we can expect but for sure rest…
Yes, I've seen comments on Weibo from people who read the novel and they're really mad. They say it shouldn't be called "A Mai Joins the Army" but "Shang Yi Zhi Joins Politics" lol. They're disappointed the male lead hasn't shown a trace of growth the past 30 episodes and I have to agree. He hasn't done much to show he's a good leader.
So after watching a drama about the ML rise to the throne now we're going to spend the last episodes watching…
Sigh so disappointing. I'll probably do a lot of fast-forwarding. I don't want to see A Mai deal with palace drama.... I don't want to see her get into a fight with the prime minister's daughter. Tired of the "jealous woman" trope that causes problems for the female lead π€¦π»ββοΈ
I am getting tired of these trouble causing mothers, nearly in every single drama, itβs veering right away from…
Totally agree, that laugh the male lead does is cringe and not funny at all. And the background music to show his scene is supposed to be comedic is cringe too.
In episode 30, Shang Yi Zhi really said "I fought for the throne to protect the one I care about."
Is he for real? It was all thanks to his mom, A Mai, and the previous emperor that he's on the throne in the first place. Everything got handed to him on a silver platter π€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈ
And that romantic music when A Mai and Shang Yi Zhi hugged.... The writers are really pushing A Mai to have deep love for Shang Yi Zhi when she didn't in the novel π
A Mai is better off with Chang Yu Qing and I hope the drama changes the novel ending by having him go with her.
I feel bad for him too. Might as well call him a minor supporting character with how little screen time he gets.…
lol yeah, I thought this was supposed to be A Mai's story but it looks like she's just a support character to strengthen the male lead and help him become emperor... disappointing tbh. Their "romance" scenes aren't even good. They look like buddies with 0 chemistry.
I don't think he knew the guy he killed was Chang Yu Qing's brother, they've never met before even A Mei who knew…
Exactly π―. It doesn't matter that he didn't know that was Chang Yu Qing's brother. What mattered was how he reacted to accidentally killing somebody. He didn't even care. He didn't check who it was. That person could've been an innocent civilian but he didn't even bother to look.
Who the heck was that guy at the end of ep.24 who wanted to be sent back to Beimo by Prince Kang? Also, Iβve…
I feel bad for him too. Might as well call him a minor supporting character with how little screen time he gets. He's been gone for 4 episodes now π’
Shang Yi Zhi finds out his father was responsible for the killing of A Mai's family and what does he do? He plans to keep it a secret from her forever. That's two strikes against him now. The first strike was him killing Chang Yu Qing's brother by shooting an arrow through his neck and not having a care in the world. I can't stand this male lead π€¦π»ββοΈ
I tried but the FL ruined it for me, she wasn't my cup of tea.
I watched 7 episodes of this and I couldn't continue because of the FL either... Nothing against the actress, it's just that the character she was playing made me quit.
I hope we get the alternate ending one day.
