Stories about characters striving to achieve their dreams are always special. When done right, such shows can be both eye-opening and deeply motivational. Typhoon Family is exactly that — a brilliant blend of likable, relatable characters, consistently realistic storytelling, and timeless themes of determination, perseverance, and hard work.

Set against the dreary backdrop of an economically unstable Korea, this drama is on a clear path to becoming one of the year’s best.

The main character is as good as it gets — smart, charming, youthful, kind, and undeniably handsome. I could go on and on about Kang Tae-poong, but what truly stands out is how perfectly Lee Junho embodies him. Tae-poong often finds himself in over his head, yet he’s never afraid to ask for help, never afraid to fail, and never afraid to try again. He’s resilient and optimistic, but even the strongest have a breaking point — and I’m eager to see his. Still, with his passion, sharp instincts, and strong support system, it’s hard to imagine him not succeeding.

Our female lead complements him beautifully. She’s intelligent, dutiful, and far more than just a romantic interest. She’s a fully developed character with her own struggles and obstacles to overcome. The supporting cast also contributes meaningfully, each serving the story effectively in their own capacities.

Typhoon Family is very much a character-driven drama rather than a plot-driven one. The characters shape their own destinies, and their choices naturally move the story forward. Themes of ambition, greed, trust, perseverance, and the balance of risk and reward are woven neatly into the narrative, delivering powerful life and business lessons along the way. I know I’ve personally learned a thing or two.

I was once asked why I watch K-dramas when I’m so particular about solid plot writing and complex characters. The answer is simple — every once in a while, a drama like Typhoon Family comes along. A show so well-crafted that it can rival even the best of Hollywood’s productions. And honestly, I wouldn’t want to miss it for the world.

amazing is a bit of a stretch, don't you think?😂. it doesnt really take that much range to be whiny and annoying.

is it possible to have such a cast and still have such an empty drama? nothing is going on it's crazy. Is it on…
its rare to find a romcom with substance these days. i just watch cos it's kinda funny. i cant even get mad at the SFL cos her character is so tropey and I've seen it a billion times. she'll serve her purpose and get outta the way

people are allowed to support a drama however they feel like. what's meaningless to you may be meaningful to someone…
i question it because I don't understand it and I'd like someone to explain the appeal. but I'm not expressly telling them NOT to like the second leads. I'm just asking why they do. how did I shit on them😂. i literally complimented their individual characters

am I the only one wondering who changed the SFL out of her clothes? she was clearly too drunk to do it herself, and the idea that the SML did it doesn't quite sit right with me

why are you making a war of couples?😂 Support the drama in general, don’t make meaningless discussions..…
people are allowed to support a drama however they feel like. what's meaningless to you may be meaningful to someone else. just focus on sharing your own views rather than criticizing someone else's 🙃. arguing about seemingly petty things is fun, and they're not hurting anyone.

one credit I will give the the secondary couple is that their conversation about morality and privilege was quite important and deep. if the writers are smart, they'll work with that to give them both character development.

it’s a forced like ,they just want to pretend they have more chemistry than the main couple
i think its about their visuals. they're obsessed with the SML's looks😂. he IS good looking

i wish Meri were meaner when speaking to her ex in-laws. i get that she's just a naturally respectful and peaceful person, but I wish she could treat them just half as bad as they treated her.

i keep wondering why everyone likes the secondary couple so much. i personally feel like their personalities dont make them a good match. i like them as individual characters, though. normally, i would dislike a character like Jinyeong for overstepping, but she seems genuinely concerned about the ML wellbeing. Also, Mr Baek's morality dilemma makes him by far the most interesting character in the show.

no matter how critical of this show I get, I can't deny that it's hilarious. does her ex actually think he's better looking than the ML🤣🤣🤣. How does Meri being a visual stan work in his favor. And the scene where they discuss the ML feelings for Meri🤣. Jung So-min 's facial expressions are so on point.

i'm not said the story is bad. but it's just not trendy enough (outdated feel), hence why it's not popular in…
a lot of well written dramas don't get the recognition they deserve because people prefer what's "trendy". i started this show cos of Kim Minha. i loved her in Way Back Love. i believe this how isnt popular because it actually has substance- complex characters and a realistic and coherent story, but the majority of the kdrama crowd prioritises visuals and vibes over an actual story. i wish it were more popular, but what can i do.
