The love potion reminds me a bit of a placebo effect. It doesn't really work but if you believe that it works then it works. Male lead might already have been conscious of her before he knew about the love potion. Once he learned about the love potion he probably believed in the effect of the spell and thought "ah, so that is why I've been feeling like this"

This is something thats bothering me too. Like the male lead already wanted to break up before he drank that love potion but then he went and accepted her proposal like why all of a sudden??? Didn't you want to break up because you didn't want to hurt her??? Why are you accepting her proposal when you are starting to get feelings for someone else?

Probably the most ordinary love story I've ever seen. Just two guys who spend their summer together and one of them confesses his love to the other. However it feels more like he did it because the script asked for it and not really like he actually wanted to do it himself
