Title Black Summer
please watch it, it's my all time favourite film and the saddest thing I have ever seen. For some reason the long…
It is nowhere near my favorite, but I do like this film a lot and am glad to have watched it twice now. It is heartbreaking. I found on second watch that a lot of those disjointed scenes made sense to me in a way they did not on the first go-round.

Title Black Summer
Why does this movie have so few viewers? There are far larger chunks of shit floating around in the BL Ocean that have been seen by hundreds of thousands. Shoot me, OK?

Watching this flick for a second time reminds me how true it is that I have to see any film that touches, moves me, remains with me, whatever AT LEAST twice, maybe a third time before I've actually seen it at all. There is always so much I miss the first time around, so many connections, allusions, little touches, whispers, hell, even sometimes shouts that I just don't catch on first viewing. So seeing a film, allowing some time to pass, then seeing it again, is often like seeing a completely new film. I spend half my time going "oh, oh, oh...THAT'S what that was about," and similar other many revelations that I never would have had the first time around.

I really like this movie. It is sad, contemplative, probably contains too many long scenes of people smoking and thinking or singing and crying, whatever, but man does it pack an emotional wallop, at least to me, and make a huge statement about the corrosive stupidity of homophobia and how it destroys all kinds of lives, not just those of the ones immediately effected.

I don't really buy that the younger of the two lovers, as his character had been presented to that point, would really have allowed his older lover to take all the responsibility/blame and hang him out to dry like he did. That is cold, man, and that kid did not strike me as that type. I felt that he truly loved his BF and would have insisted on facing the situation together. Nor do I really buy that the older one would just casually walk out the door that morning, say what he said, and do what he did, leaving the younger to wallow in self-blame and guilt for the rest of his life. Except that now that I think about it, wasn't the younger one sitting around the apartment with the others AFTER the major incident, and he didn't seem all that shook to me?

They were from similar dysfunctional families and unconnected to them; they could have gone anywhere they wanted to go together and started fresh. No need for such heroics. The contract guy should have taken the $$$ from his dad so they could take off together.

It's also sad to see once again how the homophobia and hatred that keeps gay men in the closet destroys the lives of the women they deceive in their attempts to live a "normal" life. Extra sad was how long all four were willing to carry on the charade after they would have put two and two together, even before the video. Fear can freeze us in place.

All else aside, that monologue on film near the end, performed by the younger, was spectacular. Wow.

The acting from the two leads was superb, as it was from the supporting cast. I think it is the style of film not too many people are going to get excited about, but I find it very moving and will watch it again another day.

Thank you for watching my movie and giving me a detailed review.
I just felt guilty for the negative things I wrote, now knowing that the film maker had read them directly. I guess I think of audience comments just going out into the audience echo-chamber for discussion, not being directly read by people who made the film. If I were an actor or other professional in the industry I think I'd have to stay away from comment boards. I am way too sensitive and would take every slightly negative statement to heart. :)

Wow, I guess. This was so well and stylishly done that many times I just enjoyed all the detail, design and great acting, regardless of the narrative. I dont really enjoy watching you-know-what happen one time, let alone 40 times, so I actually got a little bored during the long climax. i kept wondering what the point of it was, and I never figured that out. Glad I watched it and Id recommend it to very specific people though.

I watch lots pf other series but dont save my comments just for the ones I like. These people are professionals whose work has been put out there to critique like any other form of entertainment.

Reading this tomb-like comment section makes it clear once again that parents and friends of the actors, and the director's mom, along with paid shills posting their thoughts, just doesnt cut it.

EP 7 is excellent! One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in any of the many series I've watched, BL…
It went from great to terrible...thats why no one's watching. Sad AND boring are not good qualities for a successful drama.

Do you work for the company that produced this multi-car pile-up/train wreck?

Title The Yearbook Spoiler
What a sad disaster. Flashbacks and voice-over narration explaining stupid choices recently made....nothing but a rehash. Bogus reasons for not telling Nut what was happening that no reasonable person would ever give. "I was going to tell you I have cancer over shaved ice, but you walked away so I blew it off. No biggie."

"I was going to tell you goodbye that morning but, oh well, I didnt. I didnt want to hurt you or make you worry, so I disappeared without a trace for four years." SO stupid.

WHY the hell hasnt Nut been with Phob this whole time since the operation? The sister gave her big speech about putting Phob in Nuts care and then...she took Phob home with her again and Nuts been sitting in front of the computer reading Phob's thesis on how to be a horrible friend, boyfriend and person.

And to think I had slight ITSAY feels in the first three eps. lol...not so much. Its gotten so bad that even if the worst happens, I wont really care. The narrative is a joke so the situation doesnt feel real enough to get upset about.

Lost track of who was f**king who and eventually didnt care. Ive never scene so many badly-acted soft-core porn scenes in a legit film in my life. All the over-wrought frantic pumping and fake passion became sort of hilarious by the end. And if butt sex feels as awful as the gritted-teeth gasping of the bottoms indicates, no one would ever do it. Also, whats up with all the penis-ectomies in this mess? Ive never seen so much blood and sex be so boring.

On Long Time No See Aug 28, 2021
MILD SPOILERS

I liked this a lot, actually, but there were many implausibles and nearly impossibles built into the narrative that I kept rolling my eyes. And the silly little Internet fan girl we met at the beginning wetting himself over an anonymous Internet crush is also a ruthless killer trained in the martial arts? No. And the other asassin just happens to chow down at the fan girls sisters restaurant? On and on it went...BUT...the MC chemistry was great as was the acting, and the fight scenes were great. I just keep wondering though why no one just pulls out a hand gun and finishes it. To hell with this body and knife fight bullshit.

As always, more nudity and sex would have been nice. And Flying Dagger should definitely have killed his "savior" at the end. That shit head will be back to stir shit up in Long Time No See 2. And who else was waiting almost to the last second for someone to knife on of them in the back on the way out f the warehouse.

Anway... I liked this more than not, I just dont get sloppy writing that leaves big holes and eye-rollers in the narrative.

Whilst this is a fair point, it also doesn't meant they're excused from chopping out a lot of character development.…
lol No chance of that. I do give Guns lips a 10 though. They would havene better to just do eight episodes of close ups Guns lips and Boats arms. :)

Odd little film. I liked it. Admirable determination by the son and loved how Max, who is extremely handsome, was simply THERE for his BF, whatever he had in mind. Cute. Mom is crazy af. lol
