Will anyone explain me about this drama, what's this all about, action/romance or what?
If you don't mind 'spoilers' I will summarize:
Basic plotline: Daimyo Ieyasu of province Mikawa is often in the frontline during the Warring Staates period (Sengoku Jidai). Had an awful childhood (dead father, became a hostage several times) and later on has many obstacles in his quest for power (Takeda Shingen, Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Ishida Mitsunari and Azai Chacha).
He participates in many battles: Okehazama, Anegawa, Mikatagahara, Nagashino, Sekigahara and Siege of Osaka (Osaka likely won't be shown) on this show.
He is a bigamist so if you want a monogamous daimyo Ieyasu is far from it. Several concubines will be added throughout the show. Arimura Kasumi's character Sena is his legal wife and in this portrayal Ieyasu's and Sena's relationship is not bad in the beginning but will crumble more and more and end in disaster like always (google Tsukiyama incident).
As for the important children: Nobuyasu - Ieyasu's oldest son with Sena (Arimura). Main kid in part 1 of the series. Yuki Hideyasu - cast not announced yet, Ieyasu's son with Sena's maid Oman. Becomes a warrior. Hidetada - cast not announced yet, Ieyasu's son with concubine Oai (Hirose Alice). Main child of part 2 of the series. Becomes the second Shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate, thus the child of a concubine wins. Kame - Ieyasu's daughter with Sena (Arimura), becomes important before the Battle of Nagashino.
He also has important and famous retainers like Honda Tadakatsu or Ii Naomasa who have fans.
Ieyasu's end aim: becoming the most famous and most important Shogun Japan ever had founding a shogunate that lasted 200 years.
It’s good his character didn’t flop. It would’ve been less exciting if they made the 3rd ml to be just a…
I think that he is precisely the comedy character so that you underestimate his fighting skills. This rift regarding his double life also makes his interactions with Hong Ju more interesting.
After episode 13 I have to say that they are really improving this Taiga, it‘s quite enjoyable, the really interesting plotlines will come soon, even the wardrobe is improving right now. Next to Kanbei, Kirin and Seiten one of the good ones in the recent years.
Already annoyed that they brought a second damsel in distress female into this. 🙄 We all know where that going…
You mean that Ban Ya character? Yeah it's obvious that she will think of herself as Kang San's 'lover' but he will think nothing special of her but she will still be in the way of the main ship.
There are only two outcomes: If she is evil she will end up alone.
If she is redeemed she will end up with one of the other two heroes.
Lol sageuks only have two types of kings: it is either the benevolent but encumbered by evil ministers one or,…
It‘s always either the puppet king or the tyrant king to make it easy for the main characters. In the first case the evil ministers or evil Queen Mother etc. have to go and in the latter case the tyrant will end up dead. It‘s rarely in between.
Obviously the FL will surely end up with the prince because they met as children (people were chasing him, he…
Either the prince is Kang San and they will end up together which since she knew the prince is more likely now. Or the prince will be Yooha he will offer marriage but she will still choose Kang San.
1) true ML will be ryeoun's character kang san> he is the gruff martial artist guy who wants to protect his family;…
Totally agree.
Ryeon‘s Kang San character is the Hak like character (Akatsuki no Yona) or Tamahome (Fushigi Yuugi).
Kang Hoon is the childhood friend who like childhood friends most often do is too late and he will end up with someone else.
The 3ML lead scholar Jung Gun Joo is pretty surely the prince since they are keeping him way too hidden and due to the scene you mentioned. I think the choice the FL has to make in the end is to either marry him once he is one the throne or end up with the main male lead Kang San.
I really liked the show. The ending was fine to me since the FL got the opportunity to breath in the end once everything was done. The main villain Yeon Jin was a terrible person throughout. She was even given several chances to end this by Dong Eun and also her husband by facing her crimes but she refused every single time. She deserved hitting rock bottom. I am also glad that Yeon Jin's daughter stayed with the father who raised her.
Definitely a Taiga I plan to watch when I have time. Good cast (Matsu Takako, Nomura Mansai etc.) and the era…
Managed to watch it. This Taiga has such a great cast (Matsu Takako, Mita Yoshiko, Ichikawa Ebizu, Kusakari Masao, Mansai Nomura, Yakusho Koji), a theme that isn't covered often (Onin War) and is much darker than usual Taiga (this is absolutely not a time you want to live in but the theme is incredibly cool).
Many say that this is one of the Taiga with the best acting but it mostly had low ratings back then due to the theme not being that familiar and since it is darker in tone.

Kang Hoon‘s character is described as a friend since they were young (these characters often do not end up with the FL).
The third character the elegant scholar is still the one that you can‘t predict yet.
As for Lee Seoul the son of the former crown prince:
I think one of the three male leads will likely be Lee Seoul in disguise.
The series is well cast and most people resemble their manga counterparts a lot.
The future second season that was greenlit will feature the arcs that have never been adapted so far (Iemochi for example).
An excellent adaption.
