I actually dislike the way they’ve made the link feel too ambiguous. I would have rather it been a clearer near telepathy where he can both feel AND see what’s happening rather than this vague sometimes emotional link that sometimes is there, sometimes isn’t. I think it weakens the plot they way it’s played out. It would have been interesting if the link got stronger clearer the more time they were together /the closer they got. Instead it’s just this hazy thing that we are supposed to accept

I also felt that this reminded me of The Crowned Clown. So much so I actually wished Jin Goo had played the ML in this because he would have killed it. That said, it is a masterpiece and I share all of your sentiments on the other points. I will definitely be rewatching as well’

I hope it’s something like this. We need to get going with more reveals so the plot can move forward at this point. For 6 episodes not much new has been revealed and it’s feeling stagnant but I like the general idea of where you think it could be going.

Gye Won + Namsang are hottest/father son pair btw. Just needed to say that.

But you are missing the whole Queen Dowager component. He was ready to go to the suburbs and retire. Had she followed him Lee Tae doesn’t enact his scheme, the Queen Dowager refused to leave and give up her power. Gye Won can be the good guy at that point all he wants but the monster he created in the Queen Dowager was now out of control and he’ll bent on maintaining her power, which the new queen was a direct threat to, this isn’t about how compromising GY was, it’s that his monster wouldn’t compromise so Lee Tae had to do something.

He had to find a way to depose her especially after she tried to kill his new queen. Exactly what was he supposed to do? nothing??? He had no way to bring her to justice. His plan was intelligent because it allowed him to see who would remain loyal to him and who would betray him.

Yes like together they would be the best rulers.

And the people who died died because they refused to listen to the plan and made their own choices putting them in danger. Siwol died because he came back. The maid died because Yoo Jeong sent her out with the letter. Those deaths aren’t on the King sorry

My issue is Yoo Jeong is being a little too self righteous. Her friend died in part because she sent her into the lions den. Lee Tae’s plan was setup before her arrival and he never wanted them involved and begged her to leave. She insisted on staying, allowed her friend to stay and even spy, it’s not his fault she died. It’s the concubines fault and her own fault!

In my head there is another version of this story where it’s Gye Won & Yoo Jeong who were in love trying to battle a tyrant king that I would have loved to watch lol
