it has dawned on me that a lot of the conflict in this comment section is because of a difference between the show and the book.
Book readers and Show only watchers are getting two different versions of a story. This happens regularly with adaptations to screen so it’s nothing abnormal but it does explain a lot of the XL fandom in the comments who are living via the novel version of XL/XY which wasn’t adapted as clearly in the series version. The show version has played it much more as a one sided unrequited romantic love so people are seeing it thru different lenses.
You can empathize without agreeing. It's NOT about "infantilizing" women. No one said FFYY didn't deserve it.…
XL is presented at the beginning as a villain and does some cruel things but yes HE is a very complex multidimensional character who starts with a limited moral compass exhibiting more cruelty but his heart and conscience seemed to always understand the difference between innocent and not innocent people….. He I can find much sympathy and understanding for through the growth in his character.

We are literal internet strangers with anonymous accounts and I’m a LONGGGGGGG TIME MDL commenter who DOES love complex characters. No need to be so defensive. please touch grass.

yes and I disagree with the empathy and idea that she is a victim. Yes, I agree it was an injustice that she was punished so harshly in comparison to TH. That is without debate. I’m quite clear on what empathy is and I have empathy for many characters. FFYY is just not one and I find it to be infantalizing to claim she was TH victim rather than a person with her own agency who was a full and willing accomplice in evil.

her character arc is utter trash. This isn’t nuanced. a few episodes ago she literally wanted to MURDER JING who is a completely good innocent person and she murdered TH wife.
I see a lot of FFYY sympathy here which I find….. odd? She was perfectly fine with TH torturing TSJ and assuming him dead. She was perfectly fine manipulating him into thinking he slept with and impregnated her. She was not just perfectly fine but the MAIN one who wanted to murder him when he was sick because his death was taking too long and TH actually stopped her and said just wait for him to die. There is nothing to feel sorry for. Maybe FFYY in the book is much more nuanced with much more development but on the SHOW she is a villain with zero conscience until the very last moment she is caught. Let’s not infantilize women and remove their agency as individuals. She’s an evil immoral demoness and it serves her right that she did all that for a man who doesn’t even love her. TH is a demon but she’s no victim not of him or anyone.Billions of women choose not to become evil despite whatever circumstances they are in. she’s just a bad person period.
am i the only one that doesn’t like TJ for XY? he acts a little cowardly to me. like he doesnt act like a protector
he was not cowardly as YE Shiqi to the point that he walked right into the Chenrong Rebel Army camp and took on like 30 soldiers by himself and was ready to fight XL right there.
Thhere is a clip of an English dubbed scene with XL & XY and its awful and terrible but at the same time I feel like I now want XL with a British accent 😂
ME lol they starting lessening the gray a few episodes ago even when he was still sick. make it make sense lol
I know that new hair can grow out with color at the root if stress caused the gray and then stress is reduced but I’ve never seen or heard of gray hair once turned gray going back to pigment without dye? once it’s grown out gray it stays gray despite the new growth growing out in color? no?
