The saddest part about that is that Uk would have been engaged to Bu Yeon as the oldest Jin daughter. Our poor Bu Yeon gets thrown in the river left to die by her own father. Spends 10 years in Sari village then gets sold off to a brothel. Saves both Uk and Naksu multiple times. Is strangled to death by her own mother. Has her body become the vessel of a zombified deadly assassin who then suicides herself.

This kind of nuance is lost on a lot of people who seemed determined to make viewers disappointment into some kind of commentary on the actresses personally or some kind of competition between the actresses which is ridiculous. You are watching the same show most of us are and your conflicted feelings are the normal rational reaction to what’s taken place. If other people are not conflicted and feel fully satisfied that’s great! But most people feel like you do and feel very conflicted and unsatisfied.

Now we can only watch and see how it unfolds because season 2 is already halfway through filming. Hopefully it all works out well!

I’ve watched an absurd amount of costume Kdrama’s and they have a formula they typically like to follow where the first 1/2 -2/3 is very fluffy and then takes a major heavier turn in the last 1/3.

Tale of Nokdu is a perfect example f this. It has a much better balance of mixing the elements but it’s also a much simpler story.

I’m not really sure why they decided to extend and draw out the Uk-Mu-Deok arc for so long ago the point that they are about to get married only to rip all of that away which is traumatic enough for an audience, but then to add on top of it an actress reversal again.

Absolutely agree the story could be told in a much much tighter format. Hopefully it has no jumped the shark!

It had the same level of credibility as the first article about GYJ with the added citation of TVN PR confirmation so not sure why you think it was less credible than the GYJ article. I think some people just want to paint the outrage as some irrational fanbase acting out instead of taking it for what it is. A completely predictable rational reaction from viewers based on articles leaking with conflicting information and a story that remains unresolved.

Disagree. There is a reason body swap drama’s/movies do not film this way. This is NOT the typical way it is done for a reason. This way is much riskier. Not sure how old you are but I’ve watched an enormous number of body swap stories and this is not how any have been filmed in this format. This isn’t a 1 and a half hour movie where the initial actor is still fresh in the viewers memory and even in that shorter format they still strategically interchange both actors for a reason. This is over 20 hours, spread out over two months of viewers time. I truly hope they have a reason for choosing to go this route and that it works out well. But it is certainly isn’t because of some avoiding actress comparisons which is a silly notion. Contrarily it makes the audience grow attached to both and think of them as one person. It is used as a tool specifically for that purpose.

I’m just no longer ASSUMING anything is a given in this plot until it’s played out. Literally no one had Ice Stone barrier or cursed soul ejectors or Shaman Zombie Assassin Bell on their Bingo card and trailers have been notoriously deceptive all season so why would I assume anything about this show now.

She jumped because she looked at herself petrifying. I can only go by what I see and hear now and assume nothing that’s a “given” anymore. If she remember killing Jang Uk it remains to be seen. It’s certainly not at all evidenced at the cliff. So my overall stance is, I’m making no more assumptions since both Ice Stone gate and Zombie Bell Gate have broken all rules, common sense & logic in this story!

Couldn’t agree more. At this point of the story they broke too many of their own rules so now everything is out the window and it’s futile trying to rationalize with any logic. Whether it’s because explanations were lost on the cutting room floor or they just really didn’t care about it making sense…… it definitely does not make any actual sense now !!!

I think the same. That she may not even appear in her OG appearance until later, possibly even much later as all of the other drama with Uk unfolds.

The use of the bell makes her running wild situation incomparable to the previous people. They were not hypnotized.

He hypnotized her. Sent her to the cliff. She clearly has no memory of how or why she got there. Or why she was petrifying. So at least a PORTION of her memory IS gone.

If he could hypnotize her after the zombie killing rampage to then go suicide herself he could manipulate her memory as well. The entire point of the hypnosis is we have no idea what he did or didn’t say because part of it is offscreen. I have learned to stop using past situations as examples in current ones because this show makes up new rules, new X factors and nothing can be predicted.

Yes I know. But it’s not clear at all from that scene exactly what she remembers or doesn’t. It’s only clear she does not remember that she went on the rampage. It’s not guaranteed she retained all her memories before that. We don’t know what Jin Mu said offscreen. Most people don’t even realize he told her to go suicide herself. He could have said some other dumb s**** messing with her memory as well. As I said I do not think she ends up with amnesia but this show does love to use it as a plot device.

Totally agree. Naksu x Yul never happening. I CAN see Jang Uk feeling confused between unfamiliar faced Naksu and familiar faced Jin BY in the sense that he would do everything to protect them both.

Totally agree. The only problem is you can do certain things in writing with body swaps that work in a book but do not work in a TV Show/Movie. So you don’t just write for the story, you have to write for the medium (tv) that will tell the story.

As you said, Bottom line though is you can’t please all of the people all of the time no matter what!
