Better finish that I could ever hoped for

Reminiscing about season one, which I only watched a few weeks before starting the second season, was an energizer in my day to day life so I had huge expectations about the following season and I claim therein this review that those expectations were met. Honestly it even went above all my expectations, that said I will be waiting for the third season.
For those who are wondering about whether is the first season a must-watch before starting this season all I could say that it is. Be reassured that those ten episodes will be as entertaining as it gets and there will be no time wasted.
Our hero, sure I can call him that, does not need an annoying cape floating behind him nor a grandious entree, he is one of the common folks whose aura alone outshines those of sparkly "superheroes". It is a story worth to be told and a hero made to be admired. That being said I must confess something: unlike in the first season I had felt less tension especially in the second part of the series mainly because I was "too" certain that he will overcome anything thrown in his way. However the plot being more intriquite and well-balanced so overall I can only admit that it had truelly won me over.
The acting was of superb quality, the characters well-planned out, the events well orchestrated even if the music was non-existent at bests and mainly a part of a valid background harmony, it is one series worth to be recommended. No need to be afraid of the world of banks and its mysteries everything is well-explained and no distracting plot-holes were present. I especially loved those "ball-crushing" scenes reminding me of a Napoleonesque stature.

Started this review with reading through a few more negative ones with the intention of sharing my dissapoinment about this series ,while checking other's observation too. I was surprised by the numerous negative points I had previously missed. First of all I decided to watch this series not because the overly positive response that it got but because I was curious about how well the story will transfer to the screen and how it will end all its lines. The story was quite intriguing, hearing about it first from one of my friends who highly praised the series.
Coming with a huge expectation of course I was let down by the first few episodes, it was getting harder to continue but having been made a promise to myself to finish it first before any bashing I completed it. I felt like the story was all-over-the place and started to hate one of the main characters to the core. I love crime thrillers and stories about serial killers but the forced melo really ruined it for me. Detective Cha's character was simply to annoying to bare and without any real chemistry between her and Detective Lee, her obsession only made her seem like a complete nuisance. I would've been happier and the story would've been much more convincing if she had never been ressurected from her death. But enough about her. Other cons.: the depicting of the whole police force as overly stupid or corrupt, the backgrounds of the villains were never truly explained or even mentioned, the ressurected victims were not really used to their full potential, the ending was missing its climax, the crime aspect of the plot felt like it never got its chance to shine.
One of the pros defenitely would be the soundtrack, I loved all the bgm music and the songs truly matched the whole aura of the series. I liked the transmission-concept however it could have been more defined and perfected . The never-giving-up spirit conveyed by detective Lee was heartwarming. The introduction of serial killings was a good choice to gain more interest but that faded away really quickly because it was wrapped up hurriedly. However the killing scenes were topnotch. The cinematography was especially mesmerizing, how they altered the colours and the camera movements when they were in the past or returned to the future was particularly intriguing. The acting was on point but that was expected by seeing the cast list, still praiseworthy.
To sum up it was hard to continue at times but it was worth to watch. I cannot call it a masterpiece because of the reasons mentioned above however I would recommend it, just not get your expectations up to high.

Deserves every praise

At the finish line there was just one regret of mine that kept bothering me, the fact that to complete this series took almost three months . The only excuse that I could give myself for this is that the first episode left a sour taste in my mouth, I was left dazed and confused about what kinda series I'm even watching. But it turned out just fine or to say greater than I ever imagined, that is not to say that I did not have huge expectations to begin with thanks to the remarkable screenwriter of the series.
It did not felt like a slow-burn, it had a constant flow and pace paired with decent cinematography, complex characters and an intriguing story. It changed the overused romance formulas and can be viewed as an excellent example of a balanced script. The tension was just enough to keep me on my toes. The business aspect was not too overwhelming, the hospital-trope was not domineering, the romance was just a slight breeze not a full-on tornado, not overly dramatic... A really conscious series that made an effort to be really distinguishable from any other typical "hospital drama series". A great watch.
It only lacked in the music department a bit. I usually very much like listening to soundtracks to reminisce of series however this one did not have one song that shined through or could be identified with... But that is not enough reason to give it a lower grade than it truely earned for itself.
I can honestly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a break from cliches and fluffs and/or genuinely wants to watch a more serious and complex story to unfold. (A real masterpiece just like Save Me 2 was for me but not that slow-burn psychological kind.)

This series was surely a one of a kind experience for me I cannot even remember if I've ever gave a try to something like this. The only series which I can compare it to is Garo but that's a whole another genre.
I liked the anime vibes it gave me with the live-action acting. The episodes were well constructed and well paced, the intro song was a bit a miss for this kind of a series although it's a good song. I was not sure how it would end and felt a little confused by it, but looking back again even I could not come up with a reasonable ending for this series, so this symbolic-ish finish was appropriate I guess. There is no need for a clear cut as an ending just like life itself does not have a clean end. I would've loved more gore and action and maybe a few more episodes. The jump scares always got me so as a horror it succeeded still quite a light series. Recommend to even the weak hearted viewers as kind of an introduction to the genre.
P.S. I was quite cautious not to over-share so it may seem like hazy but that was my intention.

Started to watch the series cause I needed some dark themed action-filled crime drama cannot say that I did not get what I've wanted. I love stories about serial killers both fictive and real ones so I had expected that this series would fit me quite well and it did. The soundtrack could highten or lower the impact a series can give me and I was very satisfied with this OST, it matched the series well and I could listen to Son Seung Yeon's song on and on. One of the serial killers in this series particularly made me feel amazed (bank teller). The revenge plot only added to the series. Still I cannot say that this series became one of my favourites of all times simply because the story wasn't so exceptional and I would've loved to see more of the crime squad member's personal life not just the main character's. Detective JCM's character was missing its behind story, it felt like he was abandoned by the writer. It would have been great if det. Woo would've been a little more vicious at times after all he is supposed to be the "real bad cop". My favourite scene was the one when JHM fell and I expected him to die on impact but he seemed like he had supernatural powers and risen from the dead too many times. I can understand that his presence was much needed to continue with the plot but still enough is enough, he was like a damn phoenix and the shows effect of credibility suffered because of his repeated revivals.
I did not watch Luther nor I intend to do so so I could not compare the two series.

Truth hidden in bones

I can only praise and recommend this series which was able to aid a little bit in my own ongoing self-healing journey.
Such a prescious gift was for me that I am not feeling the usual need to nitpick on those faults or small misses.
The concept is truly wholesome, the cinematography remarkable. The music is floating around, featherlike, heartwrenching realities depicted in this wonderful series. The victims of gruesome, senseless murders getting a period of calmness before they must go on their way towards the never known final destination. Their souls can heal a little bit before starting off on another journey.
Really hope that we will be blessed with a second season in the future.

The cinematography, the acting and the cast were the main good points of this film. The colours were amusing, the presentation of the dead bodies were naturalistic, the mode of killing and the motivation behind it was well constructed so it surprises even me why I feel that the story itself with its nonsenses could bring down such a good movie to this average rating.
According to my knowledge gained by watching crime documentaries there were some points that simply does not made sense at all: while completing the autopsy of the body it was not tested that the parts were from one single body or not, during the trial of the culprit's sister death a second autopsy was not suggested to solve the pending questions of the family, the evidence could not be fabricated or changed that easily. Especially if the forensic scientist was so respected and capable like it was shown in the film, he would not be that careless that he would skip checking wether the DNA collected from all the pieces of the body were matching or not.
It felt like the environmental issues mentioned were put aside really quickly even though it seemed like the culprit was extremely obssessed with the "Venus concept" of that river.
P.S.: Yes, I am obssessed with crime documentaries especially with serial killings.

One of the classics of gangster themed movies. I was pretty hyped before watching but that slowly turned into waiting for the next fight scene or trying to get emotional over the character's life choices. This film sure created some difficult to judge characters and that is a good point, complicated and complex characters can ensure the movie watcher's curiosity till the end. The music is legendary, I had heard it even before watching the movie and that is what made me watch this film. Personally I was not satisfied with the fight scenes, there were not enough close-ups and gore in them yet it is supposed to portray the extreme violence present in the underworld.
It was a story worth telling and with the help of amazingly talented actors it was sure to become a classic but classics tend to dissappoint me(Old Boy) of course there are exceptions(The Man from Nowhere) but not this one. I wanted to see more scenes involving Hyung Bae's character, the real mob boss, his past and his journey of self-accomplishment. The ending scene created tension and the possible chance of taking revenge and I would've loved to watch that. The conclusion we get is that entering the criminal underworld would always ensure a bitter end and the one who does the betraying part will be the only one who will get away.

To start I really wanted to watch something that I can binge on and Kim Nam Gil is in it, that was the plan when I was going into it. The first ten or so episodes were quite an easy watch thanks to the humour and easy-peasy story line full of romantic cliches: hate to love, love at first sight, the unreachable happy ending -feeling, humoresque episodes between the leads plus there was the time travel aspect to give more fun to it. It does not felt heavy at all even the dramatic parts were low key presented.
Then it became boring and I started to skip more and more mainly because the leads romance bloomed and it was cringeworthy and over-the-top mostly. The villain was quite pathetic, did not added anything to the whole show and I became disinterested in how it will end. The annoying tone of the male lead was particularly disturbing to me. At the end it failed to keep up with the first part of the series. The music was goodish.
To sum up I was glad that I even reached the end and had gotten over it. Not on my recommendations list.
