Iām so confused. I thought at first that each of them had a second chance at life. Zhao got hers after she was strangled to death. YanLei got his after he whatās whipped to death. But then, how does he survive to kill her then-husband? So heās lived more than one life? He obviously didnāt have the skills when he was whipped to death, but had them to kill Xun. So he wakes up in Life 2 and works his way to the Generalās side so he can repay her kindness to him in Life 1 by protecting her above all, then kills Xun. Somehow he has to have died to be back by her side for her Life 2. Or he managed to stay alive in Life 2 and somehow everything just rewound when she started her Life 2 the day before her wedding? So confusing, this part.
Also, how do they leave child Emperor alone in the Capital to go in this quest to see the General when his life is being threatened and her standing is being jeopardized- then somehow YanLei just trusts his brother and gives him her token? like he wonāt use that to compromise her further to get what heās after- which Iām not quite sure of yet- does he want the throne or revenge for his sister?- I mean, the Emperor IS his sisterās son and therefore his blood nephew. But weāve seen court politics not care about blood relations so often, that Is question the logic in trusting this person whom they KNOW is powerful and clearly has a secret agenda).
Yāall. Iāll say it again. Donāt skip the after credit scenes. Episode 3⦠Iām lk into BOTH stories- the drama theyāre filming and the āreal lifeā one. I really like this concept quite a bit. š 5 more days to wait š«š«š«I need to know what happens next
For me, I lost faith when after her rebirth, the first thing Chun Zhao shouts to Xiao Xun is, you killed my father,…
That part! Like, you have a SECOND CHANCE! Why blurt out to the villain that you know heās a villain and hip him to the game? A wise person given a second chance to change their fate (or even a once-foolish person given a second chance) would think first before acting. Yet sheās supposed to become this military strategist (from what I understand in the comments below)? Not gonna buy it. But Iāll stick with it for now and give it a few more episodes.
if you turn off auto play in viki, it doesnāt skip them to go to the next episode :)
Thatās what I was doing until your comment. It was still skipping- at least a few seconds of the after credits in episode 1- until I turned off the auto play. I found the auto play option in the āā¦ā menu. Happy Happy, Joy Joy

ā¼ļøš”Fam. Youāre a real one! Many thanks š„° It was driving me crazy. I donāt remember turning it on so I thought it was just how the app worked, but Iāve had the app for years so I probably did because I got annoyed with how I had to keep indicating that I wanted to go to the next episode, then conveniently forgot it was a settingā¦.Ill probably end up turning it back on in the future for the same reason, then forget itās on again. š
I actually rewound the after credits scene- the facial expressions on each of them as they asked/answered the reporter. First time around I was casually watching it but then at the end I was like, āwait! What happened?ā and had to watch it again- 2x to focus on one person at a time, then after seeing each, again to get the full picture. So 4x? Itās gotta be my fave scene from this episode.
Zhen Xin already caught them feelings and not quite ready to admit it. In the beginning (flashback 7 years ago), I think itās just wanting to repay a kindness or curiosity on how someone could remain content after having your umbrella taken for someone else (after credit scene from episode 1). Then he feels some attraction upon the second meeting and especially after that audition kiss. Heās bold yet not quite ready to fully embrace his attraction to Zhang Zhen. As they live and practice together over the 2 weeks, the lines blur even more, yet heās still not quite ready, I donāt think. Itās with how he asks his girlfriend to visit him. Either heās trying to snap himself out of his growing attraction or heās trying to confirm itās more than character immersion for him. That train is barreling down a hill with no breaks though. When they do the role reversal scene, we see more of this attraction coming out. This chemistry theyāve built on top of his initial interest (whether attraction or just good will) and these somewhat repressed feelings bubble up when Zhang Zhen takes the initiative he hadnāt taken the entire half-month before. Lines become more blurred, even the director can see it.
For Zhang Zhen, heās grateful for the opportunity but lacks confidence in himself. He has hubris and a dream, so heās willing to stuff most of this deep inside when necessary, but a bit of that tidiness peaks through until the camera rolls. Or he becomes inebriated. Heās in the heavy denial phase of his attraction, held back by societyās belief that man-man is an oddity and not something either of them would actually pursue- both having girlfriends and all. But the chemistry is there and the feelings are hard to separate from the character. I mean, itās their bodies.
I think this is why BL sells so well and people ship actors so much. It can be difficult for viewers to separate reality from fiction when such intimacy plays out in front of you. And I think thatās the point of this drama- other than in the story, the guys actually catching real feelings. We have seen on-screen couples insist they are not couples but are or became close friends, some blurring the lines for fan service or to market their couple (especially with Thai couples), and those who actually become couples. Being a BL fan is a daily mental struggle to not believe everything you see during promotion lives and other materials meant to promote the dramas.
Nevertheless, I digress. I really liked episode 2 - not for the reason youād think. Itās they way he looks out for and doesnāt let others bully Zhang Zhen, like the rich kid, the hungry predatory actress, but especially the after credits scene when he stands up to the reporter for Zhang Zhen; this was peak for me. Iām glad I scrolled through the credits and found this. (And just as an aside, Ollie in long hair is š¤š½š¤š½)
Iām looking forward to what they give us tomorrow, though I may need to hunt down the novel with an English translation to get more of the details- and to satisfy my greed for an all-episode at once drop. āš½
Just as an aside, I really dislike how Viki doesnāt let me watch the after credit scenes all the way- no settings fix this. The āwatch creditsā option still cuts most of episode 1s acs. I have to go to Gaga for that. Itās just that Gaga requires a VPN and takes forever to do the 10 sec skips on my phone. But it is what it is. Just a mild irritation.
Finally a Thai BL I can enjoy (so far). Iāve been dropping after a few episodes lately because I just canāt get into them (only Thai ones). Something about fresh faces + unique storytelling and good editing really hits different. Iām looking forward to next week!
What are you talking about? Heās the one with glasses⦠You sure you saw the right drama? I found it on YouTube and he most definitely is in the drama. Since itās been a year since your post, Iām gonna hope you discovered the right drama as sometimes Dramacool can have the wrong videos attached to the name.

Anyway. I just needed to share because why not? Back to Episode 1 š.
