Fu Yao is one of the better in it's genre. The leads of Fu Yao are the forefathers of RoP, in the novel they have left a book passed down for our FL in RoP. There's still great martial arts and magic in the lands of Fu Yao, where as the magic has passed in to legends in RoP as you know.
Fu Yao is a grand drama, an epic. The ending, they are together, but it's not angst free. They go through a LOT because of their identities, they aren't simple at all. But the love story is one of the best.

I have to say I've seen a terrifying amount of drama series. That drama is one of few where I've fast-forwarded because the dialogue is so bad ,and the FL isn't being portrayed charismatic enough to forget that Neo is just a pretty face. This drama far surpasses in every way, which was a huge shock to pretty much everyone who picked it up.

I would say everytime she surprises him somehow he falls a little, and she does surprise him time and time again and you can see him fall a little deeper. Like how she confessed that she tried to die while in the hands of the fox demon-- XL probably tried to die in the arena too. The more she shares of her raw self, the more he wants to be in her sphere. They both have a very raw connection.
Every single time she gives a reply he didn't expect, you can tell his heart thuds a little extra. Like at the arena the second time ''Let's make a bet? Who of us can inspire HOPE in this child?'' And then he just comes unglued, his heart jumps off it's hinges and he's dead man standing. He couldn't possibly love her any more than right then. Untll next time she surprises him...
