Is it ever explained what Wu Xin is in the end? I don't think it has been answered in season 1 or in season 2.
What I wanna say is, if we speculate. They do talk of the Heavenly realm, and how the monkey king has run havoc there. What if, what IF, Wu Xin is an immortal, from the Heavens, and he's been cast down, into the mortal realm, to be punished, shit, he could even be a Monkey King kind of figure. He is doomed to sleep, and forget his past lifetimes, and he wanders the world aimlessly, forever. He must have been naughty.
Now had the female lead, not become, what she becomes, she too would be lost to time, but she is essentially the constant in his life, and he has forgotten, who she once was to him. Question is, will he ever remember who she really is, and how long she's walked beside him.
This will never reach Chusen, or Journey of Flower potential, due to there not being enough episodes. This is the female lead we've been waiting for, her power-up isn't taking long either. Everyone is capable, and convincing. Nothing annoying about FL, how rare! I'll prob. watch almost anything with this actress, how nice to discover someone new.
Another thing I absolutely love about this dynamic, is his moments of vulnerability. ''Why does she want to leave me?'' I don't know about you, but when I see a man like this, it brings out the inner dominant woman in me, and I want to steal his breath, and render him unable to speak. I think, inside that hidden part of hear heart, that's what she wants too. She is in fact forcing his hand, on something they've been dancing around, for ten long years. She has 10 long years of frustrations, resentment, although she could still leave him - at this point, but if she opes that lid, even just a little, she's already too far gone. She has no wish to expose herself to him, it's not safe to do so, because things could get too real, too fast. He is fuelled by his well fed narcissism, which is why , it's just a little bit, just a little bit, easier for him to throw caution to the wind. He can also tell himself, he's not 'all in', at any point, and give himself an exit.

This gaslighting, rather abusive man, makes her come to him.
Them going their different ways, would have been a far better ending, maybe growing up a little, and meeting down the road again - but no.
The oftentimes shit dialogue, her childlike persona throughout, his constant lying and gaslighting made for a hot mess of a bad story.

This is their second drama together, but they can't fulfill their love destiny in this one either. I need a drama where they have actual love destiny, because their chemistry is truly great. This drama proves, Ashes of Love wasn't just a one off.
