This drama has everything. The smaller romantic subplot is immersive, simply because it's all in the eyes of Leo Wu, and now I'm a fan. You really do believe every word, and it is really immersive, the fates of most lives in this drama, become something you care about. This drama isn't afraid of doing what it needs to do, in order to push everyone towards where they need to be.
The ending has a beautiful undertone, if you know what you're looking for.
This drama suffers from post production, I don't really believe it was intended for 45 episodes, and it seems a lot of the personal relationships were edited short. China did decide some months back, that really long dramas need to be reduced, too much fun, I don't know, but here we are.

Great Ruler is corny and camp, this drama completely lacks those elements. Leo Wu is incredibly emotive, and now I have hope for his generation of actors.

He looks like the man who found him at the beginning. He facilitated DN to join the sect, and took him in the carriage to meet the sect leader. He's likely last man standing, of their little band of 'traitors'. He was a leader of Two Storied Building/house. He's the only one to remember them all, and what those flowers on that wall stood for.

Everything they go through, it's like 3 lives, or 3 lifetimes. Pre-death, his human life, and the thing they cobble together after. There's a reason why they go through so much, it glues them together, without it, it just wouldn't be believable.
