I've endured 10 messy, often illogical (even dumb, the scriptwriter seems not to age well, the plotline and dialogues…
hahaha as someone in a similar boat, I commend both of our patience. I do think the businesses won't be an issue now because we are now entering the palace politics arc. both the first and fifth sister's partners are either already or will soon be closely linked to the kingdom and thus my prediction is we'll move on from the more local, domestic issues.
I practically watch her and Iβm happy DYX will match her character very well. She deserves to be happy
honestly, same. since day one I had eyes for her only idk maybe I feel an eldest child kinship or something haha. but I'm so looking forward to her future.
She's also the one DYX was initially ACTUALLY intrigued by regarding the whole poetry gathering, they just kept…
I forgot about this! you're right. even with the wedding preparations she went above and beyond to make sure everything went well. I also love the symbology of the beaded curtain thing because DYX will win not once but twice as the curtain was hers too
I also really like Du Yang Xi's relationship with his mother. It's natural to be ambitious and competitive in youth but seeing him immediately choosing to do the right thing at a moment's notice after his mother told him how he might be wrong was refreshing to see. I really like Madam Du too, she's also wise given her age and effectively stopped the two other Mamas from publicly arguing.
Both of them are so far so good. I really hope the coming episodes don't make them unsavory and vengeful, that would be quite disappointing
I have so many things to talk about I don't know where to start. First of all, shout out to my best girl Qiong Nu for being a true ride or die for the Li girlies!
Next, I REALLY want to see more scenes of Shou Hua in the episodes to come (which I'm sure will happen). She's one of, if not the most interesting characters for me right now. Her reasoning and approach towards handling everything was mature and intelligent, and I wish she got her deserved flowers too. Since day one of Li Mama try to set Kang Ning up with Du Yang Xi, she would constantly check up on her sister and ask her if she was making the right decision. And it didn't change till the end, even if Fuhui got involved and called her "the enemy camp" haha. Also seeing her at age fifteen hugging her little sisters as their house was ransacked really put into perspective the responsibility that has been on her shoulders since such a tender age.
It was good to see the cousin show some maturity. Why do you say "toxic masculinity" to describe Chai An. The…
toxic masculinity isn't just for Chai An. it's a recurring theme here. but because most of it comes through his character it's easy to focus on him. for example, he would go around coaching his cousin how to "tame" his wife and "make her obey" so it was nice to see the cousin point out the flaw in this way of thinking and reminding him that it's okay for men to "kneel" too. it doesn't lessen his masculinity at all.
episode 10 was LOVELY! Like Fan Lianghan, I too felt vindicated seeing chai an get a taste of his own medicine!
the wedding was beautiful and Wang Xing Yue and Lu Yu Xiao's chemistry shined through here! Excited to see this couple go through married life together.
ha, I knew it! it took all of five minutes for chai an and his mother to get in line. super funny how a single fruitful conversation was all it took. so much for character development being a long, tedious journey
also, pleasantly surprised to see the cousin come in clutch TWICE this episode! once, while info dumping all the relevant Li family history to our boy and next when he called him out on his toxic masculinity, in front of the donkey to boot! respect!
episode 9 and that scene in the snow took me straight to the rain scene in pride and prejudice. even some of the dialogue was borrowed word for word. Loved it! This conversation was really needed and I hope Chai An learns from it.
Saw s/o say they didn't expect this screenwriter to write sth like this but then I remembered The royal feast…
yeah and I'm all for "accurate historical depiction" but ffs don't put a dreamy filter and quirky music over it to romanticise what's happening. that's all I ask for. Dramas like this and Royal Feast are really just a big self-insert fantasy circle jerk for the show makers notorious for treating their actors like shit
and it's without any reason because everyone knows all these two smart people need is to have a single uninterrupted…
yeah, I said it too. it's not happening. it was just a joke. but with all the times they've met and talked on their own (I'm not counting their chaperones because they'll always be around) makes it very much possible for two smart people to have a civil conversation which this drama obviously won't. it's so funny when comments like this are all about what was right and customary in the era but within the same breath will say things like, it's just a light romcom don't take it too seriously and suspend the logic.
idk about character development but we definitely saw his character regress today lmao
i think you misread my comment because most of what you said is exactly what I've been saying. only place I'll disagree is you saying I want a perfect ML. I don't. it would be boring. what I'm saying is he can be cunning and manipulative without putting the people he loves at risk and actively harming them to get his way. he can be smart and even have a mean streak without treating his loved ones like dirt on his shoes. that's all.
I came here because of this amazing fu ling x chong zhao edit only to find out they're not the leads π makes sense honestly, I've never seen a pair like this be the main leads ever. I know I'm in for heartbreak but should I even bother? or should I just stick to the edits
