It takes so long because of the censorship process. The initial script has to be approved, then the filmed product has to be approved, and if it's not approved, they have to re-film parts and submit it to be approved again. If actors have scandals, then their parts may need to be re-filmed with different actors. If the censorship guidelines change, then the whole thing needs to be approved again - and they may need to make changes and get re-approval again. Business rivals can call on relationships with government officials to slow down the approval process, or take out or water down scenes that viewers would enjoy. Then the film producers have to call on their own relationships with government officials to get those scenes approved again, and get the approval process moving again. It's an extremely convoluted and slow process, not to mention all the normal things that need to be done to finish and broadcast a show.

I think this could be replaced with a kiss that BLY doesn't realize is being witnessed, or perhaps recorded. He can get mad about not being trusted and being lied to/set up. This puts it in much more palatable territory. They can even make it a forced and blindfolded kiss in some public place while BLY protests and tries to figure out where they are, and it would still be better than the original plot.
I've noticed Chinese BL novels have an extremely violent and inaccurate idea of what anal sex is like. They all seem to think it's inherently painful, bloody, and causes injuries. I think this misconception has led to some cross-over between people who like BL and people who like rape fantasies and S/M.
Granted, I haven't read very many, so this could be a false generalization.
