It's just a fictional country.
Ah, not that it makes sense, but it does fit. Thanks.

and I am checking out the LIEOD. BTW, was it supposed to be AGE instead of Edge? I am starting a support group for fans who are distressed by the titles as translated from Mandarin (we will create our own titles as a part of the healing process 😂😂😂

Yes. Torturing for display. And the lack of mobility was not the resulting problem (even if it was problematic) but the attempted display of wealth - not being able to walk meant being carried around and that required manpower and resources (we are so rich my wife does not have to walk). It had nothing to do with small, cute feet (you can imagine the smell of decaying toes before they fell off due to cut circulation). But then again wife was for political and connection purpose, the concubines to bear children.

I liked it at first but now (ep 19) it's rather soap opera thingy (the bgm is soooo tacky) and lost its fun edge. TBH it went from 8.5 to 7.5 and still going down

I thought that Tang was before Song and actually Tang had different women's rights highlighted than Song which (toward the end of it) came strong with said Confucian patriarchal nonsense incl. binding feet. Not to be a pest for historical detail but Tang had more inheritance of husband's property and freedom to remarry by widows than Song and Song had more inheritance by sole daughters from their fathers' wealth plus freedom to work or run business outside of home. They were both patriarchal and women were 2nd class citizens in both

For me this is an actual documentary of what shamans do and what is out there that we do not perceive in day-to-day life. We as material life do not exist from the string theory and quantum physics, so even though it tags as horror that might be at some point our bread and butter.
Would love to see a series showing the working cases for the two shamans.

When I woke up this morning and check out this place. It smells like stinky tofu and of course I see Hunter2022…
SHen Li and Hunter 2022 are probably the evil twins 🤣

this is a place to respectfully share opinions and impressions from watching a series. We are all entitled to…
I hear ya. I ignore fools, they are humans, and we are one. I don't need to interact with them to have a good day and their opinions do not shake my world. Agree to disagree. Let go move on. Giving Shen Li attention is giving energy that is going to perpetuate the issue.

I am always perplexed by how the ancient judicial system worked. I am terribly spoilt by the current/modern protocols and shake my head at futility of some of these c dramas portrayal of what it was like to fight the legal battle in the past. Starting with almost inability to bring things to the court: drumming at the entrance more often than not got you in a hot water and even if you were allowed to file a complaint in your search for justice, if you were a woman - you had to take 20-30 lashes if the case was not accepted and you had to be backed by a man. Then the cruelty of interrogation (basically you are beaten within an inch of your life and sometimes forced to put your fingerprint on whatever they wrote on "confession") and ridiculous trial in the court where your social position counted more than anything else coming from someone on the lower wrung of the ladder. And even witnesses could be dismissed by the virtue of being of lower class and the evidence was something regularly dismissed if it did not fit the magistrate's theory of the culprit.
So this series (which I watched with many pauses because of lackluster content) was rather dull and blah except for the friendship among the 4 of them.
