But the contract was for FIFTY episodes, not forty. 😄

I still maintain - and will to the absolute bitter end - that TK and JH are brothers. But, what do I know - I'm not watching and only reading MDL comments, lol.

S2 wins for the fight and action scenes but the cinematography, plot, script, scoring etc etc are so far still…
I never watched Season 1 while it aired and breezed through it several months ago. But this is my impression:

1. It was almost impossible (but they finally did it) to get all of the original cast back together for a Season 2 because many were heavily involved in other projects AND there was definite negative publicity (the word was "scandal") about an "alleged" bullying incident involving Cho Byeong Chu. Yes, probably bogus, but Korea entertainment world has its unwritten rules that require "cooling" off period from scandals.

2. Filming for S2 began in October (or November?) 2022 and ended in April 2023 - that left only a handful of months to do the CGI. One big disappointment is that we don't get enough of the flying leaps of S1.

3. S2 hired one of the premier martial arts directors in Korea ("Squid Game") for the action scenes. Episode 8/9 action scenes (hotel and cargo container) were epic from my viewpoint. More promised for the finale (Episode 12) http://osen.mt.co.kr/article/G1112164915

4. Since I came for In-soo and will remain for In-soo, I just want to watch a n awesome scene where the character of Jeok Bong shows the power and strength of the webtoon Jeok Bong. In-soo was juggling many other projects (Good/Bad Mother; Sunshine in Psychiatric Ward; You did Great) during Season 2's 6 month filming schedule, so perhaps I am wishing for the impossible.

Yoo In Soo interview describes the character of Jeok Bong:

"[Jeok Bong] is a new counter who joins the existing team. It’s a “newcomer” that we’ve experienced or will experience at some point in our lives. Everyone has a time when they are immature and inadequate. We want to do well, but when things don’t go our way, we whine to ourselves, and we do things differently than we intended. I hope that some people will sympathize with them, and some will be comforted. You can’t be good the first time or everything is perfect.

From the magazine "Luxury" - great photos and much more of his interview at the link

oh... you're so gonna hate this...I think based on the trailers there's a glimpse of both the main leads being…
I know there is some "past history", but I'm hoping it has more to do with the curse on the family and how the curse will be "lifted" (through the book of spells) rather than reincarnated soulmates.

On Destined with You Aug 24, 2023
First two episodes stablished (1) main characters, a bit of insight into their life and history; (2) introduction of "the curse" and (3) introduction of the "bad guys" - in this case, apparently some members of the construction company.

If well written, then all three elements will (1) be explained further/expanded upon in the future episodes and (2) weave back-and-forth throughout the drama, gradually leading to a great ending of romance, elimination of the curse and punishment for the bad guys all at once.

if poorly written, everything will be delivered helter-skelter with a sledgehammer. It remains to be seen, but I thoroughly enjoyed the 1st two episodes and hope it doesn't involve reincarnation (one of my most hated genres).

It's been months since I set my alarm for an early morning Netflix release, but I'll be up on Wednesday and Thursday mornings with coffee in hand at midnight KST time for the next several weeks.

Was on my watchlist because of Ha Joon (From "Crazy Love"). I guess I will be setting my alarm to watch this when it releases on Netflix - it's been several months since I did the same for any other drama.

I will take a victory lap because since - oh, I dunno, Episode 31?? - I have always called her Granny Evil. 60+…
Oh well, we can say that Granny Evil "conned" you but in reality it was the writer that conned us, one way or another, with the different characters. For that matter, I really did believe that Granny had changed, but I wasn't willing to forgive her for 60 years of abuse simply because she began to adore TK/YD and the baby. Not good enough for me!

From my standpoint, the biggest con was Joon-ha because viewers were told one thing in the beginning (interviews, articles, etc) and stupid me had faith that it would eventually manifest on the drama. 😢😢😢

Not twins but adopted brothers? Wouldnt they be cousins?
Okay, sista from a different mother - I have always loved the idea, but did not realize you were a fellow traveler - I thought you hated JH more than the idea of twins. At one time (Episode 23? 24?) I was 100% convinced they were fraternal twins. Because of the close birth dates! When the lost baby Strawberry was introduced, I lowered it to 75%. But w/in a few weeks, I was back to 100%.

He might be the legal son of Granny Evil but I still believe he is somehow related by blood to TK. Makjang on Steroids.

Jung Eui Jae said we must watch to the end to know who know JH's family. This is the ONLY reason I continue to at least look at MDL comments - I want to know if writer-nim played us or stayed true to the original story plot.

Oh also i remember the argument being made here that old bat can't be denied a relationship with the rat bastard…
I will take a victory lap because since - oh, I dunno, Episode 31?? - I have always called her Granny Evil. 60+ years of terrorizing her family and abusing others because her son managed to marry into a wealthy family w/only one daughter and therefor she got rich while the Jangs got poor? I wasn't one of the crowd that said she was suddenly their favorite character because I have always hated her and she was never redeemed as far as I was concerned.

Not twins but adopted brothers? Wouldnt they be cousins?
Since this drama has become makjang on steroids, there are several possibilities, but I am still going to hold out to the bitter end for fraternal twins (same mother/same father),

Since InOk has mentioned many times about her pregnancy with TK, # 1 possibility is that she had twins; JH either declared still-born (a lie by evil doctor or whatever) OR the father demanded taking one of the boys. That scenario is the absolutist makjang ever and at this point, I don't believe writer-nim would dare. Or would he???🤣🤣🤣

#2 scenario - Same father, different mothers (half-siblings) and InOk lied about TK's father "dying" before he was born,. That would be epic twist,

#3 scenario - InOk lied about being pregnant with TK and she somehow ended up with TK. I think writer-nim would never write another drama if he pulled that this late in the drama.

The One Major Fact that will either be vitally important or totally forgotten is that TK and JH were supposedly born w/in a month of each other AND they are The Only Two Characters for which we have a supposedly firm birth dates.

The Only Two. No other characters have a birth date - not even Han Beul iirc??

(Sorry about the caps).

I never watched Penthouse - primarily because I've read comments like yours regarding the craziness, but was tempted a bit when so many of the cast members apparently ended up on S**tting Stars. Maybe it would be worth a watch w/heavy finger on the FF button???😊

I love Lee Si Woo but it kills me to see her play such a crazy obsessive stalker character 😭. someone has to…
She's very young - and very versatile. Playing this role won't hurt her any more than playing the teenage daughter in Money Heist hurt her.

Min Hyun can act decently, but his character doesn't require much more than being himself. Lee Si Woo and Seo Ji Hoon are both very versatile and have breathed life into characters that - for now - are not that sympathetic (since they both want to break up the Main Couple).

Six episodes left and here is my rant. I think there are four fundamental problems with the drama.1. Characterization…
"I think the key problem is that KJH was written as such a terrible person in the first place. That was quite unnecessary. They could have written KJH as some one who makes some mistakes out of a lot of passion and a bit of jealously,"

From Jung Eui Jae's mouth before the drama began: “He [KJH} has a persistence and tenacity. The downside is that [he’s] a little overflowing with that tenacity, so . . [he] gets caught up in various incidents.”

And: "I think it [some of his actions] is because [he's] hungry for love [“affection”]"

This was the original plan and even through Episode 31 or so, the viewer could catch glimpses of his personality and motivation. But all was erased in Episodes 32-42 and even when the viewer is told that he was kind-hearted as a child, the next instant writer-nim brings out the monster once more.

Same thing with Se Jin - early scenes showed how absolutely evil the Grandmother was to her and her mother and provided some context for why she wanted to marry into the family.
But then instead of even some minor redemptive actions by SJ, Granny's 70+ years of tyranny and abusive behavior is forgiven because (1) she lost a daughter and (2) she became a fan of Baby Han Beul, YD and TK.

Trash writing.

Review King the Land
A few minutes ago, I was updating my watchlist and realized that I had not completed this drama (primarily due to family emergency but if and when I had time to watch a kdrama, I went elsewhere). I put this one on hold - thinking that I would try to finish at some later date but after reading your review, I see that for all the reasons I didn't bother watching/catching up (no plot, "shallow cardboard" characters, etc.) there is no point in continuing. So, it will now go into my "dropped" folder with a mediocre 5 Star rating - primariliy because I really enjoyed the first handful of episodes. Thank you for taking the time to write this - very helpful to someone like me who has limited time for kdramas. 😊

I'm still patiently waiting for the character development of Na Jeok Bong. Gosh, I had to skip so many times in…
They provided his back-story: country boy, naive/innocent, devoted to his father and willing to sacrifice himself to save others.

And then decided to ignore that rather charming story and reduce him to clown. His web-toon character was far more insufferable (conceited, etc), but webtoon Jeok Bong also showed strength and power in addition to his ability to smell evil.

I also hope that he goes through some sort of ttansformation but w/only 4 episodes left, not very likely.

I'm only here because of Jeok Bong (Yoo In Soo). I was happy that they provided Jeok Bong a rather charming country-boy personality who is devoted to his father and is self-sacrificing. Unfortunately, for comedic effect, they have erased the character's web-toon strength and power. I was hoping we would see more of the Park Dang-gu charm and scenes with Mo-Tak.
